  1. Would second Steve2006 in it might be the suspension. I had knocking from the back on my mk3 when accelerating sharply which was caused by a worn n/s upper wishbone.
  2. Aren't they just and most cars, especially from the same manufacturer, all look like they have come out of the same mould. I like the fact that the LS has very distinctive styling that means that it can't be confused with any other car. (or to me anyway)
  3. I had this and on inspection found that the sensor had melted and was an open circuit. I just cut off the damaged sensor, twisted the wires together and taped it up. No more warnings and manually inspect the pads every so often, or not so often as I avoid using the brakes at all costs anyway.
  4. It depends on the force of gravity over coming the force at the driven wheels. My LS will creep forward on the flat, hold on slight slopes and then roll back at varying speeds in line with the incresing angle of the hill.
  5. My LS400 pulls ever so slightly to the left, never had the tracking checked as just assume its due to the camber of the road? I think all the cars I have had have done this.
  6. I renewed a few weeks ago with Bell (part of the Admiral group) for £600, which was less than half the price of my previous insurer Aviva. Other than Bell, Admiral and Elephant all the others on the comparison sites was over £1000.
  7. Been looking out for LSs since I started this post and not seen a single one yet! I wasn't refering to a bike at all with the 'plastic pig', was actually refering to the Reliant Robin.
  8. Was thinking the other day that as a biker, we tend to aknowledge each other in passing and can remember back to before I passed my car test and had a 'plastic pig' it was a similar story. I can remember being aknowledged on the road once by a fellow mk4 driver to which I returned the gesture. Due to nature of LS owners being enthusiasts of their cars is it not time to start a wave or flash of the lights to fellow drivers on mass?
  9. Just renued with a much more sensible price of £600, which is with Bell. Bell are along with Elephant, are part of Admiral and these three companies were all the cheapest on the comparison sites for me. Atleast another year of LS motoring for me which is very good!
  10. My insurance is up for renual in a month and all the quotes I have had so far are for over £1000. That is with 6 years NCB, never made a claim, clean licence and now reached another age milestone of 30 (I like to think of it as 29 and 12 months though) I don't understand why these cars are so expensive to insure, they might have a big engine but its hardly a boy racers car. My bike on the other hand is very powerful (R1) and that was £108 to insure.
  11. Just remembered I had similar movement on my mark 3 suspension and scrapped it because I expected it to fail. Was a shame as I was intending to get her to 300k miles before getting rid and was not far off at just below 290k. Although I done about 14000 trouble free miles in it and only paid £350 from ebay.
  12. Took my MKIV for its MOT and it passed with a couple of advisories. (slight exhaust blow and slight judder on front brakes) I always check over as much as I can and found movement in the NSR upper suspension arm and was expecting it to fail, I had even tried to source an arm from breakers with no luck. I then looked at the testers manual at motuk.co.uk and saw that movement of 2mm for a 12mm pin or 3mm for a 25mm pin are acceptable tolerences for suspension arms, so I put it through and hoped for the best and there was no mention of it at all!
  13. Just checked mine and there is some up and down as well as a little side to side movement, although on both axis the movement is between the steering column and the dashboard rather than the actual steering shaft itself.
  14. Thanks for the reply Mybikesacx500, I have ordered some of the cheap bulbs now.
  15. I have a blown HID bulb on my LS and have been looking around for a replacement and the cheapest original Phillips bulb I have found is £50, which is alot cheaper than the dealer prices. I then found a PAIR of bulbs for £20 on eBay, I know that they won't last as long as the expensive bulbs but my worry is could using them cause any damage to the ballast unit? Also could having the ballast unit powered without a working bulb while waiting to get new bulbs cause any problems? Many thanks.
