  1. No thanks, it's helpful if you had the same problem. Think I might just change it and see
  2. Hi all, I replaced the switch on the side of the gearbox not too long ago to cure a starting Problem. I've checked it several times to ensure it is set up correctly, which it is. But the car still sometimes refuses to start and often will when I keep it around neutral. Some say the starter might be the problem but why would it still start around the neutral position If its the starter? Is there something else I should be looking at, like another electrical switch or Something? Its just replacing the starter is not a two minute job but I will do it if I think this really is The problem. Please let me know as its really starting to baffle me Cheers Ant
  3. Hi everyone, Since this website has been so helpful to me I'd like to offer something in return. If anyone wants any furniture-from oak dining, sofas, beds to high end Italian branded furniture, let me know and I'll give you a discount. Every little helps as some supermarket might say! Ant
  4. I've been looking into a new set of wheels for my lexus but the original alloys for these are a bit bland. While I always like to keep my cars as original as possible I wondered if other people had fitted different manufacturer alloys or aftermarket wheels to enhance the look of the LS400. If you think you have a great set of alloys on your LS I would love to see a picture Ant
  5. Thanks for the info. I took the car to the garage and explained the above. There was a few faults which I'm now looking into. Love this website
  6. Evening everyone, I took my car in to my local garage recently and they said they couldn't use their code reader equipment on the LS (1995). Is this correct or were they just making excuses? I'd like to buy one and have seen universal one's about, would these be any good or is there a specific type I'd need to buy? Cheers Ant
  7. I remember always wanting to date the best looking girl in class-until I did. Turned out she was as dull as dishwater. A similar thing when I recently drove an 80's Porsche 911. Was really looking forward to it and was quite disappointed. Hard to drive on the limit. Not as quick as I thought. Now off my wish list. What car have you always wanted, and may have bought and then thought it wasn't as good as the dream?
  8. Hi, Thanks for your messages. I have messaged Bunfur, actually had something from him before so here's hoping! thanks cruisermark for your link. Even if it did fit it is also damaged. The hunt continues...........
  9. Hi All, Anyone know of a black boot lid for an LS400? Reversed into a tree.......yeah I know, very silly. But is now creased beyond repair. Well beyond spending alot of money in a body shop Any help gladly received Cheers Ant
  10. Hi, Anyone know where there is a boot lid for a 96 ls400 preferably in Black? message me if you can help Thanks Antt
  11. Decided to fit a new neutral safety switch today and now car is fixed! One thing I'd say though is when I fitted the new one it still didn't start so decided to check the alignment and it was out. Aligned correctly and now it is starting every time! so maybe the original was ok after all. Also for anyone doing the same job I managed it without taking part of the exhaust off. With a bit of patience and care it is possible. Ant
  12. This is for '94 series two. Before you replace the switch check this: loosen the neutral start switch bolt and set the shift lever to to the N position There is a line on the cover Align the groove and the line and then tighten the bolt the groove is on the lower hexagonal below the fixing bolt, tighten 9ft.llb[13 n.m] This is the basic neutral switch setting I think you may have to remove part of the exhaust to replace the switch Great thanks for this. I will look into it at the weekend and advise! Ant
  13. 95 Lexus LS400 owned for 2 years-2 MOT's and not a thing wrong. Wish that could be said for my XJ8!!!!
  14. Hi Guys, I need to replace the neutral safety switch this weekend on my LS400. (1995) Does anyone have a few pointers on doing this....for example anything which needs removing first or tips on how to do it Anything would be appreciated Best regards Anthony
  15. I get all my paint from Sprayteq (01423 733356) I gave them my paint code and it was ready within 6 hours! £9.99 for a kit
  16. Hi everyone, Just bought a replacement neutral safety switch for my 1995 Lexus LS400. Has anyone done this job as I'd just like a few pointers or anything to look out for before I start. Any comments most appreciated Anthony
  17. After reading some posts on here about the starter I'm now getting worried haha. Hopefully it isn't as the job to replace it or the contacts sounds like a right bore ache! another day or two getting all mucky and messing with dodgy bolts I don't need!!
  18. Will be giving the LS a full machine polish very soon!!

  19. Hi All, Recently I've noticed my LS400 (95) won't start unless I move the gear selector about in park and then it starts. I had a similar problem with an XJ6 (X300) where I had to replace a switch underneath the gear selector. I wondered it this was a similar thing? Anyone else had this problem? Kind regards Anthony
  20. Great! Thank you for the information. regards, Ant
  21. Hi guys, Car went through MOT yesterday with only 1 fail. Front coil spring broken. I have been offered a complete strut with spring from a 2000 model. Would this fit directly onto my 1995 'N plate' LS400? Could save myself a job of removing the spring! On a good note-that is second year with no major faults or advisories. Shame I can't say the same about my same year Jag!!! Thanks Anthony
  22. Check the drains are clear on each corner of the screen for a start.. Thanks I will. I did see a bit of dirt and leaves around the corner today actually. Will check in daylight. Cheers Ant
  23. Hi All, Noticed yesterday that there was water in my glovebox. Any idea's what this could be? I haven't had time to really look at it but could it be something to do with heater/air con etc? Any advise on where to look first would be good! Cheers all Anthony
  24. I have always loved working on my cars-knowing that I am saving loads of money. But I was lucky enough to be driven in a new Lexus LS the other day and my god it is like the starship enterprise. Looking round the car it looks a daunting task to do anything on it. Not that I would on a new one but consider when its 5-10 years old. Are these new cars just getting too technical? Everything seems to be linked to computers-driving the car for us! It's the same for alot of new cars. Are we all going to have to keep our older models just so we can actually do something with them? Even changing a headlamp bulb in some cars is now a specialist job! Ant
  25. I always feel old and knackered but I am 34 with a bit less hair than the mane I had when I was 24 (maybe 14) But I love big cars. Never been a boy racer, when all my mates had XR2 and Nova GTE's I had a BMW 325i. Worked forever to addord it. Then BMW 525i, Merc S class and Jag Sovereign (but these were for a chauffeur business I had-kept the Jag when sold the business and only recently sold it. For nothing I admit. So left with the LS400 and a BMW 535i. Big cars rule! and the new king is the LS!!!
