  1. unfortunately they took a deposit on the car this morning..... however they were not aware that the car required a timing belt - they said it was a chain! Hopefully the new owner wont get any nasty/expensive surprises (if it hasn't been done).
  2. Hi, a 2003 GS430 Sport (Navigator) has caught my attention but i know little about them. The car has covered 103k and is advertised has, having full service history. At this kind of mileage what work should have been carried out/parts changed and what should i look out for? What tax band are these cars? Cant really find others for sale to see if 4K seems a fair price? Thanks.
  3. I will remove, copperslip and re-fit the pads today if i have chance, and hopefully that will do the trick (thanks Ormi) if not i wil leave it to my brother to sort when the car goes in for a thorough service and inspection in the next week or so..... Thanks.
  4. I went onto google images looking for avatar and typed in "is200 speedo" and this was the first image of any merit i came accross, as you say it looks great (didnt even open the image and just assumed it was press photo or something)..... but i am surmising that perhaps you may know, or even maybe the photographer??? If so..... can i carry on using this fab image as my Avatar? Rich.
  5. Forgive me if this has been posted before, but i found it online and thought it might be usefull to some, if not all of you guys..... http://www.bahamutcars.com/workshop/IS_98-05/
  6. Not sure how long its being doing it, as its nothing you can hear with the windows up, but last night i put the passengers window down as i was saying goodbye to some friends in a pub carpark, and as i turned out and went down the road (with the window still part opened) i hear this noise that i can only describe as a light clatter or ratling (metalic sounding) coming from the rear nearside of the car everytime i went over an expansion joint in the road, there is no knocking or banging, and when the road is smooth nothing can be heard (apart from a faint noise that sounds like something rubing on a brake disk ever so slightly? Any ideas what this could be? Thanks, Rich.
  7. Are the seats not the standard ones that they all come with? i dont think the spoiler is standard, as it has a brake light on it (that works) but there is a brake light on the parcel shelf (that has been disconnected)
  8. Thanks guys.... Thw window tint in the flesh is actually a little darker than in the pics (something i am not to keen on, but if i took it all off i would imagine it would ruin the rear screen. Just got rid on my AERO HOT Saab Convertible (which was a hugely dissapointing car) but am looking for an old R129 Mercedes 500sl..... but i have been looking since april!!! I paid £2400.00 for the IS200 which has done 103K miles, but it feels very tight and has a nice ride (which i think is what i like about it..... it feels very German in its ride and quality) The car had recently had a cambelt change, new rad and new ball joints, and has MOT and tax well into next year, gear box is smooth with no bad 1st to 2nd gearchange, and i have already dialed into pulling away with enough revs to elliminate the very light clutch judder. My brother is a Garage Service Manager (not a lexus dealership) so he is going to take it into his work next week and give it a full inspection and service. And hopefully she will be ready to serve faithfully for the winter..... Great cars, these, i am discovering :-)
  9. Thanks chaps..... will pop down to the main dealer as soon as i get the chance.
  10. Well, its the time of year where i buy a car for the winter months, and this year i thought i would buy a lexus..... seemed to tick a lot of boxes and cheap enough to for only 6 months ownership..... Have to say though, i did just but this car as a run-a-bout BUT after a spiv (it was truly manky when i bought it on Friday) and put some miles down in the car, i reallly, really like it...... yeah, its slow but it just doesnt seem to matter, its a very nice car, and i am sure i will be sad to see it go come the spring. Here are some pics for anyone that is interested.....
  11. Hi Guys..... I have just picked up a 1999 IS200 Se (so this is also a newbie saying hi...) Apart from the viewing, driving and do the deal, i have not really spent any time with the car, that will come tomorrow when she gets a full spiv, and i have a laugh (I would guess) at how lame the navigation in...lol However strait off the bat, i have a bulb out on the dash that lights the latter part of the rev counter (where it meets the speedo).... Any ideas if its easy to remove the cluster and change the bulb? Am i liely to find the type of bulb needed at my local Halfords? Thanks in advance....... Richard.
