  1. Here is a picture of the transmission cooler (circled in red) located on the engine behind the water pump.
  2. Hi All, Serviced my car back in the summer of 2016 including the transmission and as promised I want to share some photos. Sorry for bad quality photos don`t know why they are so bad as they looked fine on my phone screen. It is not a how to guide just sharing some photos. Did a 1400+ miles trip 2 days after I serviced car and luckily everything was good, no problems.
  3. Thanks for the update, sounds not too hard. What position did you have the gearbox lever in and did you warm up gearbox before? Is the filter just a mesh that can be cleaned or it is more that that? 5L fluid was enough than? Sorry for too many questions just want to get ready for my turn :)
  4. Did you? could have helped you with that, I got a good deal at my local dealer Service manual only says 2L for changing gearbox fluid but it comes in 5L only so you will need to buy 5L Don`t know how much fluid the gearbox hold but you wont be able to get all of it out so 5 liters should be enough. Would you share you experience after you done?
  5. There might be a how to but not yet searched for it, My.is is a good place I prefer genuine stuff for my car so have bought Toyota fluid and strainer already.
  6. Thanks for the replies and advice guys, will do a report once I get to this
  7. Just found the part number 35330-30070 for the filter (comes with 3 gaskets and also confirmed by my local dealer so there is a filter (of course) on the auto gearbox :outforcount:
  8. Hi All, Does anyone here has ever changed gearbox oil and filter on the IS300? Not the drain and fill type by unscrewing only the drain plug more like a flush with removing the pan and replace filter? Did some search on other forums but getting mixed info, some says there is no filter some says there is? Emailed dealer as well but would be good to have first hand experience. Help would be appreciated Thanks in advance!
  9. This is not average miles from a full tank, that was my best so far over 4 years of ownership. Used to do a lot of motorway driving with 460-480 miles / tank (Glasgow-Dover via A1 on a single tank 2 passengers inc. driver + full boot). On a daily basis with short trips I`m happy to get close to 400. No magic :) car is well looked after, only have K&N panel filter, full stainless steel cat back system and lowerd with TTE springs. There is a member here who managed to drive 520 from a full tank with a sportcross?? if I remember right?
  10. Hankook Ventus V12 front and Falken FK452 rear, all 225/40R18 Dont think it would make much difference tbh
  11. Was doing a 265 miles trip last summer when I visited a friend in Europe and thought it would be good to record how the 300 does on fuel. Was just the car and me with a small bag traveling and road was 50-45-5% motorway - A roads - City driving. Didnt drive like a grandpa tried to keep to speed limits, also had the PWR switched on all the time for better respond when overtaking. Was a bit worried she wont make it to the petrol station I filled up before the trip but not just did she went over it as I stopped at a different fuel station closer to where I stay. Didnt fill the tank fully so dont know the exact mpg. Here is how she did, my best one so far out of a full tank: Managed to drive (on A roads) 86.5miles when the fuel indicator got to the first big mark
  12. Hi, Not sure which one I changed (B2S1 or B1S2) as it was years back but if you planning to diy and dont use car every day just take it out and you can get the part number from the sensor itself. Good luck!
  13. If you have rear parking sensors fitted it also beeps (ones) when you put it in reverse
  14. Thanks for the advise I`ll see what they come up with price wise next time
  15. Sorry to hear that, hope it turns out ok at the end Let me tell you my experience with insurers. 2 year ago we had high winds for couple of days so i decided to put cover onto car for overnights. I know I shouldn't do it on public roads but didnt bother me at the time. You see on pic below what happened by the time i woke up so rang my insurer to tell the story and they advised me to take car to a body shop to get it repaired. They recommended a place but never took her as it was not serious damage but could have been if I didnt put cover on (been repaired since on my cost). When my policy came to renewal discovered I`m being charged lot more than before so after lots of phone calls I found out its due to this incident even when there was no money claimed back from insurer. They put a note to my case as "information only" but that does not help at all when trying to get new quotes from different companies. Sometimes they wouldnt insure me because of this So what I see if you are recorded to the books you`ll be charged more what ever the case is but I could be wrong and this is just my bad luck.
  16. Acceleration feels faster in almost any diesel in its class (specially when chipped) due to high torque but petrol cars can keep up when get to rpm The 300 is not that slow as most people say but of course not the fastest either these days when there are turbocharger petrol engines in most new cars but how long they will be reliable?! Owning my IS for nearly 4 years now but still love it and cant wait to sit in and drive it off. Love the E-shift too
  17. My first try with LED SMD bulbs in fog lamps back in 2011, wasnt impressed at all as you see so still using halogen bulbs. I`m sure bubls have improved since then...
  18. yep thats me Only had a K&N panel filter against his stock bm. According to the http://www.chipexpress.com/products/154/'>Website he bought a kit from, engine puts down more than 500NM on max setting Fitted a full catback system on mine since then and still can keep up with him on motorways
  19. Just found this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m5VYgGi0BoE'>VIDEO, often get bored and make usless videos like this. Its really hard not to hit the accelerator pedal on a flat-straight motorway
  20. If I drive around town enjoying the 2JZ I get similar numbers :outforcount:
  21. This was on a 1450+ miles trip I usually do twice a year and normally get 460+miles out of a full tank. If I remember right as it was nearly 2 year ago filled up with 67L of petrol after the 500 miles but still dont know how I did that, I dont drive like an old man. Noticed if you drive around 80mph the car feels more economical and responsive than under, also I dont use cruse control when I care about fuel as the car uses more petrol (I know its hard to believe but true) check this out: http://youtu.be/YBKlo_sfmVE?t=4m34s All I had is an oil change w/filter using Castrol Edge 5w30 and OEM filter. My friend drives a 330d (chiped) and his engine rpm is nearly same as mine on motorway speed but he gets 600 miles less than 60L of diesel.
  22. you cant change trip reading between mile and km I belive
  23. My best out of half a tank motorway driving only with 2 person on board and fully loaded boot at 70-80mph IS300 On the same trip managed to get just over 500 miles of a full tank 85% motorway driving (not the same tank of petrol as the above pic)
  24. Not as bright as original halogen bulbs but still well visible in daylight
