  1. Happy Birthday Jason 92 Mk1 LS400!

  2. I had same problem and used this company to re-con my pump www.powersteeringservices.co.uk charged about £100 and been fine since....well until the alternator packed up a few weeks after and I had to have that replaced.
  3. Sombody is selling a great example of a LS400 on ebay. Have a look http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...2484653907&rd=1
  4. I went to http://www.car-transplants.co.uk/ a few weeks ago and they had a Mkiv in dark met blue in which is being broke (don't look for parts from front end !!) Maybe worth a try hope this helps. Ps - If you can find out where the Rover driver lives - pay him a visit with a few mates to say hi !!
  5. I've had my mk1 LPG for 18 months, 150 miles for £15 of gas - definatly worth considering. 5K for a mk1 with gas is a good price - look out for mine in autotrader in the next few weeks 5K with gas and private plate but had the major "leaky" problems sorted. Go gas - save money !!
  6. Do you really want leather seats ?? - they are the only thing about my LS400 I don't like (cold bum in mornings, slide off when going to fast, dogs claws are a pain etc etc). I love some nice velour seats for mine - wanna swop !
  7. Mine did the same a while ago - it was a fuse, but don't know which (was under bonnet though) - A friend of mine (electrician) fixed it - he's on holiday in spain so when he comes back I'll try and find out for you if nobody else can help in the meanwhile
  8. Didn't want to mention this before - well until I'd got all the parts I needed. http://www.car-transplants.co.uk/spares.asp This company have 3 LS400's for breaking, 93 LS400 Mk2 95 LS400 Mk3 98 LS400 Mk4 The details are not listed on their site, but give em a call. The alternator & power steering pump are still on the Mk2 (found these just after I'd had both mine replaced). - Don't go looking for the Temp/LCD display though ! Hope this helps sombody !! cheers Jason
  9. Mine as a gap between the seal and screen at the sides of the window - top fits flush. Why not try some masking tape in afew places to see if wind noise goes - if it does, then u know this is the problem - out with the silicone gun then !!
  10. To answer some of the above - Jason, Have you found that there is a significant drop in performance using LPG ? Does the car pull as much as before? Can you simply switch between fuel and gas, or do you get issues with it? How much did the full install cost for your one? @ 40MPG that's well worth thinking about ! (Sorry dont know how to do a nice box !) Yes there is definatley a drop in performance, 0-60 times suffer, but on motorway driving you would never know - the saving outwieghs this anyway "Normal" driving you would never know Flick between gas/petrol with flick of switch Never (touch wood) had any problems with the conversion (it was a proper LPGA approved one) Installation - the car was converted when I bought it. I was looking for a LS for quite a while (looked at loads that were all dogs) - this was a "well priced" dog with fleas, but I saw the potential (and saving from LPG) - I was told the installation would have been about 2K. I did fill the petrol tank once (£53.00) and run without LPG - what a shock that was I am now a LPG convert - Looking for a Mk4 with or without LPG - if without I would definatly convert it. Did sombody mention raising tax on LPG - NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Oh yes, my MPG figure are not actuals (as you point out) it is based on Petrol price to LPG price ie £15.00 of LPG gets between 175 and 200 miles Thank *** for Morrison's 29pence per litre. cheers ! Ps - Only 1 bad point - lost my boot thanks to LPG tank (it's a big-un!)
  11. I always get over 40MPG in my LS400 :P (yep, it's got a LPG conversion - well worth the investment considering the number of miles I do) On a run (motorway) 50MPG :winky:
  12. cheers stew ! I've been offered the comp for £100 + VAT - wether it is siezed or not ? pot luck I was told - it was still on an accident damaged car when I viewed it - looked like it was well looked after before bump. might give it a go - I know in summer i get p***** off when it doesn't work J
  13. My Air-Con compressor packed up a while ago (there is s post on here somewhere). I have found a reasonably priced replacement but it is off a 1994 mk2 LS400, where I drive a 1992 Mk1 Ls400, Does anybody know if there is any differences between the two - would it work on my car ?? Cheers
  14. I had exactly the same problem, it turned out to be the alternator - go along to a local "quick fit" or similar and ask for a free check - they can check the output from the alternator which should be approx 14V - I think you will find yours less than 12V (hence the lights comming on) - Get it fixed, straight away - unlike me - you ever tried puching one of these :shutit:
  15. still not got round to replacing mine - its amazing what a coat hanger picks up
