  1. There is a phone kit installed for a nokia (I am guessing a 6210/6310 interface by the look of it) ... were these standard fit for lexus ? Just checked the docs and its a may 97 ls ..... it's on the left side of radio on a bracket with a microphone appearing just above rear view mirror. (been tempted by a bluetooth adapter but the car needs more tlc first !) Pretty much full lexus history and there doesn't appear to be any "official" unoffical mods if that makes sense Trust me to get an awkward one ...lol
  2. While trying to clean my boot out I found the following lead taped over itself ... anyone got any ideas what it could be ? Sorry to be a pain but to this lexus thing and its certainly an experience ... my wallet learns something every day Many thanks Iain http://www.postimage.org/image.php?v=PqfPVmJ http://www.postimage.org/image.php?v=PqfPXRS http://www.postimage.org/image.php?v=PqfQ1R9
  3. It was done at a friends garage / bodyshop ... he assured me they supplied a "full seal kit" as well as the screen ... They taped the screen up after as is standard with a new bond ....
  4. It had all new seals put in as well .. which is why I think they haven't bonded it properly .. Almost on par with driving with the windows wound down a little if you know what I mean ... I wish people that didn't know what they are doing would leave well alone and let someone qualified do the job !
  5. Arghhhh is a good place to start ..... Had the bodywork sorted on my ls400 .. but the windscreen shattered on removal. A loveley Norwich based company who i won't name (i expect theres some rules about that anyway) ..lets just say they aren't as good as the name suggests ...have fitted another one which has left my lovely ls400 looking like a :tsktsk: cortina from the 70's ... a lovely bright green strip across the top of the window .. all I need now is my name stuck underneath and a pair of fluffy dice hung over the mirror ..... In addition there is a LOAD of road noise now ( I don't think it has been sealed properly) .. and the wipers haven't been realigned properly to they smash into the plastic base on every wipe. I won't even mention the state they have left the side trims in on the windscreen On speaking to the ower of said company I was told he can only get them in green stripe or grey stripe .... or bronze import eventually. So i rang lexus Norwich .. (fantastic people by the way .. very polite very very helpful) and got a very acceptable price on a genuine windscreen ..believed to have the proper full gradient green tint. Fantastic. Then i find out who they use to fit the screens .... the phrase in my head here is "over my dead body are THEY touching my car again).... So .. does anyone know a good, reasonable windscreen fitter in the Gt Yarmouth / Norwich area who will either fit a supplied windscreen or can get a proper ls400 screen (ie. full gradient tint - not a clevor trevor type stripe)? many thanks .... Iain ps sorry for wall of text - still calming down from earlier ....
  6. Hi, I don't think anyone has posted this before (apologies if they have) .. but if you have a good rummage (normally around the till area) in poundland / instore shops they are doing some battery cards .. these have upto 10 batteries on .. normally a mixture of cr2032, cr2016 and cr2025 .. needless to say they go for a pound :winky: Most normal shops tend to charge at least a couple of quid minimum for a battery .. I hate to think what it would be from a main dealer ...I for one am certainly too tight to find out Iain ps the CR2032 are often used as BIOS or CMOS batteries for pc's and CR2016's in laptops for the same thing ..so unlikely to go to waste!
  7. Used to have one of those fitted to my pajero ... its quite common to find them installed on import 4x4's ... Somewhere near the steering wheel you should have a round socket with almost a serated looking edge ... thats the master socket. If you have that key you can reprogram any key fob to your system (cough ..ebay ...cough) or indeed reprogram your existing remotes. If you have the codes for it (often on a credit card sized piece of paper) Cobra can supply a new one. The master key also works as an overide for when you work on the car and it decides to go off in your ear ..repeatedly :tsktsk: Iain
  8. I use gloves if I am filling up the pug (its a derv) ... and the lexus if I am working ... mobile IT tech for the NHS .. Doctor's don't like you smelling of fuel in their surgery Iain
  9. thank you ... I will give that a go as soon as its back form the body shop (scuff to bumper, graze on side and rust scab along windscreen ....bought like it i hasten to add) I feel a good shampoo of the boot as well to get rid of the lovely smell ... Is there any benefit to trying to seal round the lights at the same time ? Iain ps will try to get some photos up when its back
  10. Hi, I am based in Gt Yarmouth, Norfolk and have just joined the lexus club as it were with a purchase of a 1996 LS 400 :D The aerial mast + nylon feed is on order .. as are a pair of cd caddys .... Now to sort the wet boot out (both sides .. horrible feeling its the sun roof drain) and get the ls into the bodyshop for a quick touch up and removal of the rust scab on top of the windscreen ..plus alloys .... Fantastic drive though .. already had a basic oil change, etc on it ..very very impressed....may need to pop that rotten egg under the accelerator though to increase mpg and save my license ..... No doubt I will be asking for an awful lot of help shortly ;) heh heh Iain
