  1. Thanks for the help Steve,I haven't tried getting any discount yet so that could be an option. I'm amazed that no one else has had this problem before, my car as only done just over 51000 miles, I thought a Lexus would go around the world before anything broke. I will let you know how I get on, but in the meantime the car is running perfectly and I'm not in any hurry to spend hundreds of pounds just to put a warning light out. Cheers Steve
  2. Thanks for reply Steve, yes the local garage did reset the ecu (twice guessing that it would come back on)they figure that a reset very rarely cures this problem on any car. Lexus Cardiff also reset the ecu again the light came back on within 3-4 miles. I appreciate what you are saying about if it's wrong it's their problem, but the difference between an £80 universal and £40 labour is a big way off £406 from Lexus. At the moment the car is performing faultlessly so I'm not rushing into anything yet. Cheers Steve
  3. Hi, I put this thread into the engine and transmission page back last week, I've not had one single reply to it yet. Did I put it in the wrong place, or doesn't anybody know the answer? I have since been to Lexus Cardiff, got charged £63 to confirm the reading, they then told me they would have to order the sensor and for £343:00 they would be happy to fit it for me. So with the code reading and supply and fitting it would cost me £406:00. are there cheaper alternatives? Hi all, I've got a 52plate 300 Sportcross with the engine management light on, to it to my local and trusted garage, their expensive SnapOn code reader didn't even have Lexus in the menu, luckily they had a cheaper EBay version that did, which tells them " bank 1 sensor 2 " which they believe is cyls 1-3 after cat. They have so far tried 3 different aftermarket sensors, all of them wrong, and their suppliers tell them it can only be supplied by Lexus, surely not? They are unwilling to spend to much of their time chasing one of these sensors, so does anybody out there know A:- is this the correct interpritation of the code and B:- where can I get one of these sensors right now and for how much? Cheers Steve

  5. Thanks for warm welcome folks, I hope to be a fairly active member here because I think that I have finally found my ideal car. I read a lot on here about MPG and was worried about how bad it could be, well second day of owner ship found me driving 110 miles up the M4 to the Mother in laws, if the gauge on the dash is to be believed, an auto 300 with the cruise set at 75 was doing between 30 and 40mpg most of the way there and back, methinks I can definately live with that! of course it will drop on normal a-b drives, but I'm not to heavy on the right foot anyway now.:winky: cheers Steve
  6. Hello everybodies. I've taken the plunge and gone and bought myself an is300sport cross today, still trying to find out how everything works, the dealer has apparently "lost" the handbook and the full Lexus history, he does however promise to trace and or replace said paperwork a.s.a.p. Very happy with my first impressions (although impressions are not my strong point) will look longer and harder in the cold light of day tomorrow. Will keep you updated. :winky:
  7. Hi everyone, I'm looking to trade my much loved SLK230 for a IS300, only choosing a 300 because they seem to use auto boxes more, can anyone please tell me what I need to be looking for in a used model, by the way I quite like the looks of the Sports Cross. Is there anything with the keys, with my Merc I had to ensure that I had the master key! Is ther anything in particular I should be looking for? Looking in Autotrader it seems like I'm looking for something 02ish, are they all the same spec? Lot's of questions from a newbie, but I don't want to make a mistake. All replies gratefully recieved. Cheers Musky
