  1. Sorry I can't answer your query regarding the 450. But can you please advise where you got your running boards for the 400 from? how much they cost and are they easy to fit? I like the idea of them preventing annoying door dents which I've recently fallen foul of, but I want to make sure they are not to outlandish or cheapen the appearance of the car!
  2. I just got an update from the service manager at my local Lexus dealership who has been checking my battery. After talking to him at length about how the vehicle was used prior to the flat bettery, he diagnosed the drain on the battery down to me leaving the doors and boot open for several hours whilst I was loading the car up when returning from holiday. I didn't have the keys in the ignition and he said the interior lights and doors illumators would be enough to drain the small auxillary battery if left on for as little as 30 minutes !!! He admitted his embarrasment on this issue and said that he has had this conversation many times before with 400H owners whom have used power without realising and not having the ignition key in the ready position. He said "Always, always leave the ignition key in the ready position" when using any of the vehicles systems radio/CD/DVD or even stationary with the doors and/or boot open - Lesson learned! I even asked him about the battery size on the new 450H and lo and behold Lexus now fit a bigger auxillary battery to this model ! so I think that speaks for itself.
  3. In Feb my battery went flat on my 400H (although I was able to open the driver door with the key). The RAC came out, jump started it and then recommended I contact Lexus who asked me to bring the car in for a battery check. They diagnosed the battery as faulty and replaced it with a new one. All was well until last Friday afternoon when I experienced the same issue again, flat battery. This time the AA came out and jump started it and today my vehicle is back in at Lexus for I presume what will be another new battery. I'm using the vehicle everyday so can't understand how the battery can fail like this in only 3 months of use? I must say this isn't the Lexus experience I was hoping for when I bought the car. Overall I think the car is excellent but this battery issue is starting to wear me down, okay I can just about live with this while I've got the extended warranty support and breakdown cover but beyond this I can see this becoming a costly exercise re batteries and will force my hand to change the vehicle and move away from the Lexus brand. I find it frustrating that the dealer pleads ignorance on this issue, surely Lexus HQ must know about the number of reported battery problems on the 400H? has anybody tried contacting them on this issue ???
  4. Thanks for the reply, however given the complexity of this I decided to called DentWizard instead rather than risk any further damage to the door!!! The DentWizard man came out to my work place and did the job in about an hour. Interestingly, he didn't remove any door components, instead he used the hole that sends the cables throught to the rear door, and pushed the dent out from behing there - clever!!! Good as new and good value I thought, defintely recommend them.
  5. Some nice person has dented my drivers side passenger door on my RX400H. I wondered if anyone has any experience of how to take the door interior off so I could have a go at the dent from the inside and push it out? I can't see any screws, it looks like the plastic trim "clips on" to a runner but I don't want to force it just in case. Any help appreciated.
  6. Hi, I've got an 07 RX400H SEL which I've had for about 2 months and I've experienced a similar issue. A few weeks back the missus popped in to a shop while I waited in the car. I had turned the engine off and was listening to music but also had the display set to the map. After a few minutes my screen went on and off a few times and then eventually went off - similar to how you described it, but my engine did restart okay. I thought nothing of it at the time and we just drove on. Then about 2 weeks ago I went out in the morning to drive to work and went to unlock the car but nothing happened, the battery was completely flat. My Lexus Warranty meant I had RAC cover so they came out and jump started it but they recommended I give Lexus a call. I called Lexus and they asked me to bring the car back for a battery check. They said the battery cells had failed and replaced them free of charge under the warranty. So it could be that you have a battery fault like I had. Regards, Rick.
  7. Hi, I bought an 07 RX400H SEL a few weeks back. :) Yesterday I noticed the front right tyre looked a little deflated so I drove to the local Morrisons Supermarket and tried to use their digital air hose. I set the PSI to 33 (as the handbook says) but when I put the air hose on the valve I noticed it didn't fit very well at all and you could hear the air escaping. The machine tried to fill the tyre but I think it could sense a losing battle and displayed and error code on the digital display and gave up. The net result was I lost more air than I was trying to put in!!! Also, each wheel valve seem to have the same problem??? not just isolated to one valve. The machine was working because I observed someone before and after me use the machine without a problem. Anybody else experienced any issues with valves on an RX and filling up air from Supermarket digital machines???
