  1. Thank you Kevin, the impression I'm getting is that it is normal for them to rust, unless I suppose like you say you regularly maintain them. Saw a used one for sale on ebay which was also rusted and googling 'exhaust manifold rust' also returns lots of posts/info saying that it is very common due to the material used and the high temperatures the manifold reaches for them to rust on all makes of cars.
  2. Thank you for your update, I'd be interested to hear if you get the same reply it would be reassuring if you did .
  3. I've just noticed this rust on the same part on my four year old IS 220D as well. Would I therefore be right in assuming that this is common and nothing to worry about? or should I be worried?
  4. Hi guy's Thank you for the tips so far. It's been back to the dealer a coupe of times and they say they couldn't see/hear anything obvious when removing the top of the dash or test driving but did add more padding, the rattle is very intermittant and can happen on any surface except very smooth new tarmac and seems to be worse the warmer the weather, it's frustrating. As for actually removing the shelf i managed to get step 1 (lifting the shelf from the bottom of the glove box) from the diagram done with a bit of effort, but still struggling with step 2 removing it from the side of the glovebox am i right in thinking it should just pull away?
  5. Hi There, I'm trying to investigate a rattle that appears to be coming from inside the Glovebox area of my IS. I've emptied the contents etc and the rattle is still there. Someone has suggested it could be something to do with the access panel for the Climate Control Filter at the back of the Glovebox, but inorder to check it out properly i need to remove the shelf. I can't see any securing points for this and have given it a little pull put it's still firmly in place. I don't want to get too heavy handed with it and was hoping someone would know how to remove the shelf without damage please?
