  1. Thanks, Guys. It does appear that they talk to each other! Result. Useful website that! Got all excited in the hope that it hadthe wiring diagram for the mobile dvd unit thats stuck under the drivers seat! Alas not, Onwards and upwards!
  2. I was wondering if the Iphone Bluetooth worked in the Lexus? My blackberry works fine so dont want to swap, if the Iphone doesnt. Thanks Neil
  3. I had noticed this. I am also a newbie, although I owned a GS450 previously. I have noticed that its much happier to run on battery with the heater/air con turned off. I am only getting 27mpg, but I have Yokohama off road tyres and these could have an affect. I'll swap em after winter!
  4. I have just purchased a 56 rx400h. It has had a Lexus dvd player and headrest screens fitted (from an SE-L I think), but they are not wired up. I have a been supplied with a bag of knitting sorry a wireing loom! This looks very complex, has anyone any ideas of how it should be wired up. Or could anyone recommend a good auto-eleccy in the North East. Suggestions greatefully received! I was going to photo the ends of the wiring loom, but there is lots of it! Surly it only needs 12v to the dvd, and an av out to the screens and may be a loom to the stereo!? Why so complex?
  5. I was lucky with my xtype. It had already lost 16k in its first 3 years and thats when I bought it. I ran it for 30,000miles and sold it for £1500 less. It was very cheap motoring. I think your attitude is spot on to remind yourself that it started out at 40k+. The Lexus is going to be very different running costs! I had not noticed the glass, but now you have pointed it out, it is weird. I have guessed that it is ok to change the PWR and Sport settings whilst on the move! Cheers Neil
  6. Cheers! This comes as one hell of a shock! I have been used to a 52 Passat tdi then a 05 Xtype 2.0d. Neither of which went near a main dealer. I was offered £3500 for the Jag at Available car, it wouldnt have made a jot of difference to its value if I had taken it to the Jag dealers for servicing! So I have to re-familiarise with dealers and prices. lol. The most I have paid for a service over the last 4 years is £140. I think I can find tyres for £170 each! Its a good job thatit has 4 good 'uns on it - not for long. At which point in its depreciation cycle, is it not worth servicing at the lexus dealer??? ......and you are correct. I will never have a diesel again! This is an unbelievable drive compared to the jag. Its different class.
  7. Cheers, Guys! Thanks for your comments. I have learnt a bit more about the Sat Nav. Or at least, I have found the Suspend navigation button!! I am bit confused by the way points, but as you say I will get the hang of it!! The disk is 07, so its not as good as my TomTom anyway. I guess I will have to be good at cleaning the beige carpets!! Still getting 33.3mpg. So tbh I am quite chuffed with that! I'll try std hybrid mode for the next week, see how it goes. Its great when I get in to Derby in rush hour, I can drive from the a38 to work on the battery! I'll ignore the TPWS and Voice Command!! but will grease the valve caps tomorrow! They are metal. I did buy it privately, and for what I paid, I carnt get too concerned. Any car can deal you a big bill. There is obviously more to go wrong with this, but reliability doesnt seem an issue. I am a bit worried about serviceing costs. Any idea what these are? Its got 16k miles on the clock, so its next service is 20k. Will price up tyres!! Thanks again... Neil
  8. Hi Post no 1!! I have owned an 07 GS450h for 5 days! I am impressed as this is a different class of car compared to my previous motors!! I have a couple of questions on which I would like to seek your advice! 1) How do I drive it to get the best out of the hybrid system. I do about 30k miles per year, so may be should have bought a diesel!! ;) Do I leave it in Hybrid PWr mode or std Hybrid??? I am getting 33-34mpg so not doing to bad! I am adapting my driving style and trying to lift off earlier to keep it in the blue!! 2)Is the Sat Nav in Chinese!! It might as well be. Any suggestions! I dont have the book, so am on a loser to start with! 3) What the heck is the Tyre Pressure Warning System and how do I find it in the car? Do I do anything with it or just ignore it? 4) Does anyone use the voice command? If so, what commands is it good at! I have found the help section, but it clearly struggles with a Northern accent!! Is there anything else I should know!! Thanks for your help!!! Cheers, Neil
