  1. I've heard it makes a hell of a difference. I've got some new fron lower balljoints to fit, so I'm gonna have a liberal spray around when I do them. Thanks Mike
  2. Not sure about your local dealer, but Lexus, Reading offer a 15% discount if you're a gold member on here. That would save you £23.40 on your lower balljoints, which goes a long way to covering the cost of membership :) Thanks Mike
  3. Hi Ricky, Welcome to LOC and nice car :) Mike
  4. Hi Jason, Welcome to LOC and good luck with your search. Mike
  5. I also have a MKIV and I always thought that the second press enabled the deadlocks? Your problem could be the bonnet switch or something. Thanks Mike
  6. Yeah, checked mine and hoses should be the other way round and the bracket bolted to the head. Hopefully you can see from the images below, although mine is not as clean as yours and my BB takes "not so good" pics. Thanks Mike
  7. Bloody hell mate, they sound like right cowboys. Sorry about your run of bad luck and I hope they sort it for you. The thought of someone "joyriding" in my LS would really p*ss me off so I can understand how you feel. Let us know how you get on! Mike
  8. I'm hoping the quality is reasonable. I'm not expecting OEM parts, but if I can get 20k out of them, I'll be pleased. I'll let you know once they've been fitted and keep you informed as the miles roll on. Mike
  9. Welcome to LOC and good luck with your search. I've always fancied an IS300 too. Mike
  10. Hi, I too have a 98 MKIV and have just today ordered a pair of lower balljoints as one of them was an advisory on the MOT back in November. I paid £49.99 with FREE postage on Ebay for a pair (item no 320629288585). Dealer price is about £150 per pair. Top wishbones are available on Ebay (item no 320585663972) for £67.49 each. Yes, they are common faults too :) Thanks Mike
  11. Hi, Lexus, Wolverhampton on Bilston Road are listed as a participating dealer. I would chase them about this. I receive a 15% discount from Lexus Reading and to my knowledge, that's how it should be. Thanks Mike
  12. Yep, that's where I am. Second hand set I bought were no better than the ones I removed :( Mike
  13. Welcome to LOC, That's a great looking car! Mike
  14. I bought the £66 battery from the main dealer as my '98 LS was getting a bit lazy during the cold weather... I would go with the Lexus dealers recomendation as they should know which battery is required. I must admit though, it does look small (physically) for the car, but I trust the dealer. Thanks Mike
  15. Thanks and welcome to LOC Mike
  16. My insurance company raped me too. My insurance for my 3.0 MV6 Omega was £510 and when I got my LS, it went to £1189. I shopped around and got it cheaper though :) I bet you are looking forward to Sunday :) Mike
  17. Welcome to LOC. To remove the Sat Nav disc, you slide the little slider under the disc slot and it will eject the disc (I think the ignition needs to be on for it to come out though). Can't help with the rest. Thanks Mike
  18. LOL!!!I don't think I've ever seen so many Mikes in such a short space of time :P Thought I'd best drop in and say hi then :) Glad the smell of gas was you and not the LPG system!!! Thanks Mike
  19. I too had this on my '98 MKIV. However, in my case, it was soon followed by lumpy tickover, lack of power and then a full breakdown. Turned out to be my alternator not charging. Try putting a multimeter on your battery whilst the engine is running and reading the voltage. You should be looking at between 13.8 and 14.7v. Thanks Mike
  20. Mike (Bluesman) I'm off this week, so PM me your address, preferred day and time and I'll pop down to see you. I can't do Wednesday before about 10am though :) Thanks Mike
  21. Regarding a meet, I've started the ball rolling in the meets section. Thanks Mike
  22. Hi all, There has been talk in a couple of non related threads about a Southern LS meet, with other models being welcome OF COURSE... I thought we should try and keep the forum tidy and bring it here. Has anyone got any ideas as to where and when we can meet? So far we have people interested in Reading, Plymouth, Essex, Basingstoke (that's you Rick) and Poole (Andy) so we would need to be somewhere central to those loactions. I know it's easy for me to say, but I would think somewhere around Swindon would be central (ish). Date wise, I'm easy..... Anyway, chuck your ideas in. Thanks Mike
