Thanks very much for that info. Does the dealer have the right to knock thousands off the original purchase price to arrive at a trade-in figure or should he use that original sum? Para 4 is not very specific on that. i can see us becoming a one Lexus family at this rate.

It’s my dad’s car and he realised after he bought it that it wasn’t suitable, being too low. There’s nothing wrong with his car apart from that. The dealer has said he will take it back but only offering a trade in value thousands of pounds below the price my dad paid. This makes it very difficult for him to make up the difference on another car. He meets the requirements of the 30 day scheme and expected better. The problems of having a two-Lexus family!

Does anyone know the “terms and conditions” referred to in the Lexus literature that mentions this exchange scheme? In other words can one exchange the car as being unsuitable? Thanks for any help.

Thanks for the replies. I was going to check online for the latest discs but haven’t had time yet. Otherwise it may have to be a TomTom which would sort out the maps and phone book in one go. The speed dial idea is worth a look, thanks. I’ll give it some thought over the weekend.

At last I’ve managed to find my dream car. It’s a 2008 LS600h in excellent order with only 40,000 miles covered. The satnav is obviously a bit clunky with out of date maps, but that’s something I can work on. The other thing is the Bluetooth which will pair with my iPhone 6s but won’t transfer my contacts. Has anyone got an idea why this is so? Otherwise I’m very pleased so far. Any help much appreciated.

My Rx is the same age as yours and I can't see anything as you describe behind the front wheel. Sounds like a trip to the dealer. Good luck.

This battery problem needs to be sorted by Lexus. My Dec 2008 RX 400h was recently left for nine days and the battery went completely flat in that time. I took it to Lexus Brighton and was told that this was normal by the same chap who told me when I bought the car in June that the battery problem was "largely confined to the IS series". They may think this is normal but I don't. The employees read these posts so I'm sure that they can work out my identity. The car is still under warranty and I await a phone call or email offering a free and permanent solution. Failing that I shall sell the car and go back to Mercedes. It will be Lexus's loss.
