  1. I wouldn't advise touching the other front sensor, you don't want to start getting an error 32 as well.
  2. You have to remove the wheel arch lining to get to the connector. I have a feeling the part is expensive to replace.
  3. 43 is the deceleration sensor. This is no where near the ABS sensors so not really sure what is going on there. This error is only produced when stopping from above 30mph to 0 so maybe that error is a previous one that has never been cleared. As the ABS error came on before the vehicle was moved then it is probably detecting a open circuit in the wiring rather than a misaligned sensor. Try clearing all the error codes - Using the same procedure to obtain the error codes, DLC1 short Tc and E1 and remove the shorting pin, press the break pedal 8 or more times within 5 seconds.
  4. If this is a series I GS then the transmission is near built proof. Why was the fluid changed? It doesn't have a replacement schedule here in the UK. Was Toyota T-IV fluid used? Was the fluid just drained from the pan or a complete flush performed?
  5. the sensor is either damaged or not installed correctly. If it is misaligned it will not detect the wheel rotation correctly and produce an error. Have a look at the attached for troubleshooting the wheel sensors. ABS_sensor.PDF
  6. I believe the master is black even on the Mk1. If it is a genuine Lexus key then a master will lock/unlock the glovebox. It would be possible for a third party key to be cut as a master key but not programmed as one, if that makes sense. The Mk1 has a UK installed alarm system rather than being integrated into the engine ECU like the later models so it is not as difficult to get new master keys.
  7. Looks like you can obtain the error codes being produced without a diagnostic tool. Follow the attached procedure and let us know what codes are stored. GS_VSC_diagnosis.pdf
  8. Don't think it would be a fuse. I'm guessing a damaged sensor/connector Look at page 3 of the attached for wiring diagram. 046VSC.PDF
  9. and if it's a Mk2 pre Oct 2000 facelift then you cannot get another key programmed without a master unless you also change the engine ECU.
  10. the warning light should go out itself after there have been 3 complete ignition/system tests without a problem, however the error code will still remain in the system unless it is cleared by diagnostic equipment or the ECU is reset by pulling the correct fuses or disconnecting the battery.
  11. Hi, I would post on the US forum as they have more experiences with this issue and auto transmissions in general.
  12. I thought that the US's "premium" was basically equivalent to our standard grade petrol, and that they also had a lower grade on sale. Yes that's correct, their 91 premium is our standard 95 RON. They do also sell 92 PON in the US but also lower grades that haven't been available in the UK for many years now. With the lower grade fuel in the US, why are many of the Lexus engines tuned for more BHP than in the UK Not much different on the IS300, 215 compared to 211 but on the old GS430 there was 20bhp difference.
  13. The hybrid batteries are just standard Ni-HM rechargeables so they will self-discharge over time but that normally takes several weeks rather than just one.
  14. They actually have the same fuel than we do in the UK. They don't use the RON measurement they use PON which is why the numbers are different.
  15. It's unlikely to have multiple faults. It the series III is like the series II the VSC warning light will come on with the engine light whether there is an actual VSC fault or not. It may be that when the engine is not fully working that VSC etc is disabled which is why the warning lights come on.
  16. It is the biggest cause of disc warping on Toyota/Lexus models. Uneven tightness is the real problem rather than the exact torque. When the disc heats/cools and you have inconsistent tension on the bolt points around the disc, it will bend or warp.
  17. make sure you tighten your wheel nuts to the specified torque settings then they will not warp.
  18. Apparently the VVTi versions of the engine are interference. Had the cambelt recently changed on my RX after 105k miles, the old one looked new and would have lasted many more miles but would recommend you stick with the 100k miles service interval or at least get it inspected for cracks/wear.
  19. I one off isn't a problem. You should avoid running in N because it will overheat the transmission.
  20. may not be a stuck calliper, just a worn one that tend to knock at low speeds.
  21. Toyota/Lexus use the same codes on all their vehicles so yes they would cover the GS430. Please be aware that the list isn't complete however.
