  1. It's not as fast, smooth or quite but handles slightly better being a smaller car and is cheaper to run.
  2. It's the key with three buttons, lock/unlock/boot release. I will try and find the procedure.
  3. You may want to try posting on the US forums. The ES model isn't sold here in the UK http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums
  4. Up to you if you like it or not but you will get less trade in for it when you come to sell it.
  5. The layout is different between CD and DVD based systems which is why it looks different.
  6. It's not £9k difference. If you had the Nav to the SE (yes bluetooth and reverse camera are included) the difference is £2.5k
  7. The solar sensor (sits on top of the dash) increases the fan speed/cooling to compensate for strong sunlight heating the interior.
  8. I think there are sport ones available as well. It may be that Lexus change suppliers and therefore the design changes. Best to speak with Chris S
  9. if it doesn't state in the owners manual then you don't have to.
  10. It is illegal to leave a vehicle running unattended on the public road. Companies sell turbo timers because they you should stay with your car.
  11. You need an existing master key for the new ECU.
  12. Having to check two forums. If you have a problem it is much better to post on the public forums as there are many more people to answer.
  13. You will probably find Denso will not talk directly with the public, certainly on Toyota products.
  14. Lexus use Navtech map information which they combine with other info so a normal Navtech disc will not work. Aisin and Denso make the sat nav system and only Toyota/Lexus discs work. The JDM nav unit is different from the European versions. People have tried putting a UK disk into Altezza, Aristo, Soarer and Harrier and it doesn't work - so there is no reason to think it will work in the Celsior.
  15. Yes I believe you need a new nav unit to get navigation to work in this country. Even then I'm not sure if the heating controls etc. turn into English.
  16. Sounds like a mechanical problem rather than electrical - the brake pedal doesn't need to be pressed to shift from R to P. Possibly dirt stopping the mechanism from moving correctly which is causing it to jam. Worth trying to lube the shift lock solenoid pin etc. if you can strip it down.
  17. It doesn't have an airflow meter, it has a MAP sensor.
  18. The MKIV LS400 (1998-2000) also had 5 speed transmission, Standard Sat Nav and in some countries air suspension
  19. Does that include Turbo timers?? :duh: ← yes
  20. I don't think it will be a problem. The RX300 is mainly FWD and so will wear down those quicker anyway.
  21. 1 - sounds like the pads or caliper moving - if it's the pads then you can apply copper grease to stop it. The link below shows the areas to apply the grease http://www.alldatadiy.com/alldata/AFI~G~C2...063452/82905304 2 - possibly a heat shield rattling at a certain rpm. I guess you will need to put the car on ramps and check it whilst it is making the noise.
  22. looks like a MKIII. To get sat nav working you need to swap over the nav unit for a UK one, but as the LS didn't have nav in this country you could only use a 1998 unit which may not work. Haven't heard of anybody doing this so there may even be other parts that need to be replaced. Best find a scrapped MKIV LS400 and try swapping parts. Would cost you £2000+ it you got new parts from Lexus.
  23. Yes they are that reliable. I would try and test drive both the 400 and the 430 so you can make up your own mind. Personally I would have the 430, a major change over the MKIV LS400. Worth posting on the US forums to get advise, UK doesn't have that many LS owners and you can get better advise about specifications (as they vary from country to country) and the price to pay etc. http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums
