  1. My OSR had seized and the disc was only half getting clean. I took it off, applied some heat to dismantle, cleaned up the rust and re-lubed. Not aesthetically pleasing, but they now work a treat.
  2. I've never been able to find much info on this, but I think the flywheel and release bearing are different. If I keep mine for another year I will try getting a flywheel from Central Europe for about £450.
  3. Are the pipes to the pressure differentialvalve/monitor clean or dirty, giving a false reading? EGR /Intake clean?
  4. This will send your car into Limp mode - I've tried it. I can vaguely recall a connection to dump valve pressure and so the solution is more complicated and involves divertin fresh air into the valve rather than blanking.
  5. Your DPF is full of soot. Soot doesn't burn off. Get it cleaned. You did well to get to that milage - mine went at 81K.
  6. I think there are several contributing factors: 1) EGR dirty 2) Intake Manifold dirty. (likely if EGR is). This will be harder to clean and will cause the mixture to be rich (ECU thinks there is more air than actual from the MAF) 3) DPF clogged. This cloggs at around 80K depending on your usage and oil. Will need replacing or cleaning out 4) Pressure differential sensor to DPF may be partially clogged giving false readings and causing frequent re-gens (lower mpg) 5) Dirty Injectors. A de-coke(>3500 rpm for 6-8 mins) session with additives may clear this and cause a DPF re-gen 6) Stop-Start motoring - it's a heavy, powerful car. My motoring has changed from urban(22 mile commute) mixed(40 mile commute) to mainly motorway (90 mile commute) and the fuel consumption has increased from 38 to 42 and is now at 48-50. It was built for the motorway at speeds of (indicated) 75 mph or more in 6th gear. Lexus have even defaulted the dials to turn orange when this happens! ;-) Lol
  7. Can you just physically block the 5th injectors fuel line? The electronics would then tell the valve to open, but fuel would be injected. The pressure diff sensor would presumably never give a high difference (blocked) reading with the DPF guts taken out?
  8. I'm pretty sure the Avensis DMF fits but don't want to be the first to try!! It's half the price. The clutch will be different though or at least the release bearing, if not all.
  9. There are direct injection kits out there but they are expensive. Some can split the proportions so that, say 10%, is petrol and 90% LPG so you are running your petrol injectors all the time and don't fry them. Be careful, there are lot's of cowboy LPG installers out there - I know from bitter experience!
  10. Sounds like it's the DMF on it's way out. Try altering your driving style so that instead of just lifting off the accelerator immediately, you level it out - i.e. keep the revs flat for a 1/2 sec and then press the clutch. (e.g. accelerate to 2500 rpm then hold it there before pressing the clutch). Make sure you lift off the gas then press the clutch - the arrangement of the pedals makes this more difficult than you would think. Examine and analyse this. Sometimes you press the clutch before lifting off the gas due to the pedal arrangement (clutch is high and gas is low!) I believe it's the worn springs not reacting to the massive abrupt change in torque. If you do the above then it handles it better (has more time to adjust). Please let us know if it works for you. It has for me, but ultimately it's a DMF change and possibly a propshaft gasket if you get the cruise control resume 'thunk' too.
  11. Probably the DPF (D-CAT) is getting full or the pressure differential pipes are clogged
  12. The clutch noise is actually gearbox resonance or worn DMF me thinks.
  13. Head gasket failure as you suspected - exhaust gasses leaking into coolant system and over pressurising.
  14. 500GBP sounds far too cheap. Do you mean a Single Mass Flywheel conversion? I'd be a bit reluctant to put one on.
  15. BuyPartsBy.co.uk I often wonder if there is any difference between the IS DMF and the Toyota one for the same engines. Guess I can't find out unless I get one and check the plate fits.
  16. That's good! I bought mine from a Toyota Garage and found that they and Lexus Derby and Sheffield were all saying there's nothing wrong with the DMF even though they deemed there was enough of a problem to change the 3-part clutch! They've been told not to admit there's a problem - when the Tech drives it, they make sure the take their foot off the gas, pause, then press the clutch(this gives the worn/failing DMF time to steady itself). You wouldn't notice unless you know or think about it afterwards. However, analysis is my game!
  17. MOT failure if removed and it's debateably illegal.
  18. Makes perfect sense, but the DMF is expensive and Lexus seem to not want to replace it unless it is scrap. If it is failing then it's a struggle to get them to admit it - they would rather blame your driving style and alienate you and dismiss your custom. Replacement of DMF when replacing the clutch and there have been reported problems should be mandatory in my opinion and experience.
  19. My DPF died a couple of months ago, strangley enough not long after a service! Anyway, I have a Toyota Used Car Warranty and so was able to get a new one after the Toyota Garage explained to the warranty person that a DPF is not actually a consumable filter but a DPNR! It costs over £2K! BTW Lexus said it was NOT covered under their warranty due to it being a revised DPNR (08). I have since found out that cars equipped with DPF MUST used low ash oil and so you must check this next time you get your car serviced. Ash is not combustable and so will block your DPF. If I keep the car and it happens again, I will 1. Undo the hoses and clear them and the ports 2. Connect the hoses together so that the Pressure Differential Sensor is not telling the ECU it's blocked 3. Run at high revs. Although this didn't work last time and it's scary when you suddenly lose power. (passive regeneration) 4. If all else fails, I will take it off and blast it with a Pressure washer until it flows freely again I am NOT paying £2k for a new one! Modern diesels! - New block, new DPF, dodgy DMF! Not been impressed!
