  1. Just wanted to add, I posted this question on Tezzaworld and got a great response. Just incase anyone else has been having the same problems!
  2. Ive just checked the dipstick and the oil level is about 3cm above the max fill level (where it says hot). Could this be the problem as it has been overfilled (I know very little about transmissions unfortunately)?
  3. Ok so I have been driving the car now for a few days and something is just bugging me with the semi auto box. Having only ever had manual cars before I can't make accurate judgement on this so wanted to ask your advice. Basically, it feels to me like the clutch is slipping slightly. As an example, I'm doing 80mph on the motorway and I take my foot completely off the gas. I press it back down again (not heavily) and the revs go from 3.5 to 4k. Then after a few seconds, without moving my foot at all they will drop down to about 3.75k. The car has not changed gear. This happens in every gear, even when at low speeds. It sounds to me, particularly at low speeds that its almost like the clutch hasn't fully engaged? Another explanation would be its almost like the engine is providing a small boost of power which cuts out a few seconds later, but this might be (and I imagine is) complete bollocks!! I can explain in much more detail, but didn't want to over complicate with the first post. I think it may just be me getting used to the car, to be honest the extra revving sounds great at low speeds, but if this could be a problem I want to get it checked out.
  4. Slightly off the flow of this topic but there is a 2001 Altezza for sale currently near where I live (Radcliffe, Manchester). I actually sat in it to have a look but to be honest it was not a credit to the previous owner. I couldn't see any differences that would make me part with the added cost, but I did however REALLY like the digital clocks! Heres the info (but no pics)... http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201001349816514/sort/priceasc/usedcars/postcode/m261uh/page/1/keywords/altezza/radius/10?logcode=p
  5. Cheers for that Matt, now I know these are standard ISO connections on the back I will stop being lazy and remove the head unit out of the car!
  6. this might be the wrong forum so apologies, but I just wanted to ask the question. Basically, I purchased an Altezza recently and in the boot was a head unit. The bloke removed this from another car when he imported it but thats all I know, well apart from that he forgot to take it when I picked the car up! Its an OEM toyota head unit, model code KNN-5175 or 76001. It has NAV/ TV/ CD etc and seems a really good piece of kit, but it does have some Japanese on it so it could turn out its not suitable for UK. I also can find barely any info via google which is never a good sign. Anyway, I want to test this unit but wouldn't have a clue how to go about this. I don't fancy removing my head unit from the Altezza unless absolutely necessary (plus the wiring could be completely different), so wondered if there is a straight forward way (eg hook straight up to battery?). Thing is, with so many pins on the back god knows what goes where! I know its a long shot but you never know!
  7. Just want to say +1 for Meguiars Plastx. Had a go this afternoon and it worked a treat, not perfect but loads better. TV/ DVD unit removed, just need an original dash tray (would love a flip one) to replace bracket (placed request in wanted thread) Heater does blow hot/ cold, but it is definitely this motor making the noise. Maybe on its way out but will have a proper look at the weekend.
  8. Cheers for the replies. I would love the flip tray, but know they are pretty rare to get hold of. I have just bought the car and the pic shows what it looks like at the moment. This was done so an LCD screen could be attached which I have now removed from the car. What I want is to remove this bracket and replace it with the original tray, so I can have it back to standard. If you have this bit I would be very interested in buying. Cheers :D
  9. Hi, I need a centre dash tray unit that will fit a 99 IS200/ Altezza. Its the one above the centre console Cheers
  10. I am now the proud owner of an Altezza! Ok so first thoughts are excellent, car drives and runs really great and no glaring issues, plus how good do the clocks look at night!?? Only issues so far: Strange intermittent servo noise coming from passenger footwell side of centre console. I'm not entirely sure what it is, i'll have a proper look when it stops bloody raining. Any ideas? It also has quite 'cloudy' headlights, not sure if on inside or not yet. Couple of added bits: It has an AVIC-DR2000 NAV/DVD/TV thing installed with a removal screen in glove box. No remote for it though, plus being from Japan probably wont work anyway in UK so thats getting ripped out asap! Head unit is aftermarket also, aDMZ435LP by ADDZEST. It is outdated (has a minidisc slot) but looks ok for now. Sound in this car is excellent.
  11. Will do mate, cheers for that.... A Plan were over a grand!!!
  12. Actually, just wanted to add something on insurance. After owning and running some really powerful cars, I am genuinly surprised at the insurance quotes I am getting on this car, especially consiering it is (I am informed) group 15. Best quote I have had so far is from Adrian Flux at £715.00. I am 32, no claims/ convictions, live in Manchester and have 5 years no claims so this sounds waaaay off the mark.....or is it? I know imports cost more, but this seems excessive. I did get a quote of £233 from a company called suredirect which I initially jumped at, but after doing some checking these guys can often do some very dodgy dealings so the advice has been to steer clear. Any other recommendations? I plan to phone A Plan this afternoon. Cheers....only 3.5hrs to go!
  13. Ok thats great, I am officially now happy with the price. To be honest I am literally bursting with excitement at the moment and being sat at my desk watching the clock is not helping much! I pick it up at 5.30pm, so I will post my initial thoughts later!
  14. Ok thanks for this, I thought this would be the case but I suppose sourcing an original fob is probably more expensive than having an alarm fitted! Thats reassured me a bit on the price, any more comments welcome!
  15. Hello all, Today I placed a small deposit on an Altezza RS200 and I pick it up Monday. I drove the car around for a good 30 mins today and everything seems to be ok, although I was hoping for your valued opinion on whether this is a good deal. Details are 99 'S' reg Altezza in white, Z edition semi auto, 70k. Unmarked bodywork/ wheels, excellent interior, imported start of this year by seller. Very clean engine bay, Cambelt just changed, loads of japanese receipts but nothing more really for SH. 12 months MOT and tax end Sept. Price was £3295 but we agreed on £3k. Does this seem a fair price? Be brutally honest! Can I just also ask, this car does not come with a remote key fob, just toyota standard keys. Do all these cars come with remote locking as standard? Thanks in advance and I look forward to contributing! :D Attached is a pic of the car...
