  1. Standard south east England winter temperatures. So between 4 and 10 degrees recently.
  2. Yes, the light comes on. I thought to reset it that I'd have to turn it on and off in a particular order but nothing seems to be working.
  3. It was for something completely unrelated (brakes) but I think they probably disconnected the battery at some point because the switch to override control of the electric windows also seems to have stopped working. Also the radio had lost the station names, although their frequencies were still programmed. The clock was right though!🤷‍♂️
  4. Hi All Haven't been here for a while but my car was recently in the garage and now that I've got it back, the front demister no longer works as expected. Previously when I switched it on, the aircon would come on and automatically go to max. Now, the aircon comes on but at whatever speed I've got the climate control set to. I have to manually turn it up (and down again obviously). Any idea how I can get it to go to max speed automatically? 🙏
  5. Same here. Should've taken the advice I was given before buying it and gone for the 250. Wish I could afford to change it but just bought a house! :(
  6. The previous owner of my car had them done and was billed £90+VAT for each bulb and £180+VAT for fitting. They are not too difficult to fit, but there is a bit of disassembly required because there isn't enough space to open the bulb door. On the passenger side, it's easy - you just unbolt the windscreen washer bottle funnel and pull it out - this gives plenty of space to change the bulb. It's more difficult on the driver's side - the engine air intake needs to be removed, to get access to the bulb. Cool. Thanks. The passenger side's the one that's gone so good to know that it's easy. I know I should change both but If I can do the one that's blown at least I'm still on the right side of the law
  7. One of mine has just gone too. How much does Lexus charge to supply and fit them? Can I fit them myself? Is there a guide somewhere in the forums? Those Osram are on amazon UK for £122 so not too expensive.
  8. Yes, it's happened to me on a few occasions. I've had my neighbours knocking on my door to tell me that my windows were halfway down. I think I may have pressed the unlock button inadvertantly and it's a feature I only renectlt discovered.
  9. I've had my 2006 220 Sport for a little over 2 years and after the first couple of months of ownership I noticed smoking after sitting in traffic then accelerating away quickly. I do mostly urban miles and a stop-start 17-mile journey into the office every day. I'd previously been doing 30 miles which was stop-start, then about 10 motorway miles, winding country roads and a stop-start last 2 miles. I had numerous calls and garage visits to Lexus but they couldn't recreate or diagnose the problem. I even posted about it here. Eventually they followed me on a typical journey and saw the effect for themselves. I took it in and they said I'd need a new engine!! Fortunately, it would be replaced under warranty. Last month I had a stuttering effect driving down to Wiltshire but didn't think much of it. On Tuesday I drove from London to Manchester and it was more pronounced but I got there without any problems. Yesterday I was driving back from Manchester and 40 miles into the journey the warning light (check VSC), engine and traction light illuminated. I stopped, called Lexus Roadside Assistance (the AA - pfftt!) who advised that I do a regeneration. I literally drove all the way back to London at 3.5k RPM! I was getting a loss of power pretty much the whole way and I was surprised I made it home without the dreaded "Limp mode" I'd heard so much about. Car still not great on my drive into the office this morning but stil no limp mode yet. Now I'm beginning to think that the great plumes of smoke that I used to see before the engine was replaced was actually a good thing and my system was cleaning itself out! If I take this to Lexus and say that I think it was a direct result of the misdiagnosis and replacement of the engine maybe they'll fix it for free! (And pigs might fly right?) Anyway, does anyone know of anywhere in London (or counties to the N, NW, W and SW of London) that will reliably remove the DPF and do a ECU remap (or DPF emulation) at a reasonable price?
  10. Does anyone know anywhere in London (or counties bordering N, NW, W and SW London) offering the same service as PandP?
  11. I like the look of it with the minor exception of the rear reflectors. Look like they've been added as an after-thought. Shame I can't afford one!
  12. Thanks for your exhaustive research Matus. I'd like to know how this translates to a 220D Sport but I suppose there are some general common sense rules that we can follow. It would be interesting to know what revs you should change up at to maintain the revs you refer to at different gears for point 4.
  13. Got my car back this morning. Lexus had had it for a few days and guess what? They couldn't recreate the problem!! :duh: So I told them I'd drive it to work and let them know. On my usual route, in the same place that I usually see the smoke, there it was as bad as ever. I reckon it must be my driving style!! Getting fed up with this now. It'll be a while til I can take it back in but I think I'll call and arrange for someone to follow me so that they can see what it looks like.
  14. I'd like to know the answer to this too. My rear ones are in a right state from the kids dropping crap all over them.
  15. Forgot to give my update. Took it to Lexus a few weeks back and after having it all day they called me very late in the afternoon to say they could not recreate the problem. I went to pick it up and they asked me to drive it around myself to see if I could get it to smoke. No luck. I figured that, because I'd asked for my money back for their misdiagnosis of the problem (petrol in the tank) that they'd corrected the problem and didn't want to admit it. But anyway, they said that if the problem occurred again, I should book it in, they'd give me a courtesy car while one of their guys kept it for a few days to see if it was apparent when they were driving it around. I agreed. For a couple of days there was no (or very little smoke). Then it appeared again as bad as ever. Now what I noticed is that it is worse when the weather is cold. At below 5-7 degrees you will see smoke. The lower the temperature, the worse it is. The day I took it back to them was really relatively mild (11 degrees) so no smoke! Last week I put some BG44 in the tank as I've heard it's good, filled it up and drove to Leeds (from London) and back. No problem. This morning I was on my way to Birmingham and was doing 50mph in 4th in the roadworks between J10-13 on the M1 when I noticed huge great plumes of smoke behind me. It was cold again this morning but I'd never known the problem to rear it's ugly head on a motorway drive. The engine was also stuttering quite badly at around 2500rpm. I phoned Lexus as soon as I could and got it booked in for the end of the month so we'll see what happens. They said they'd keep my car for a couple of days but if they can't recreate the problem I might refuse to give them to courtesy car back!!
  16. I like your survey and have completed it but made a mistake. My total mileage is 49000 not 60 (I misread the question). I also think you should add a "Don't know" option for when the EGR valves were cleaned. The question about driving conditions could also be misleading in terms of giving an accurate indicator of fuel consumption. As an example, I use my car mainly to get to work. It's a 30 mile journey along mostly highway A roads, a short stretch of motorway and a B road. But for 10 miles of the early part of the journey to work along the highway A road, I'm actually in slow moving traffic and on the B road I can comfortably do between 40-50mph in 4/5th gear. I think that question could do with being a little broader.
  17. So Lexus appear to have spun me a line on the "petrol in tank" as the cause of the smoking. It's booked in again today. I'm waiting for them to call me to tell me what the real problem is. I reckon they'll make up some other excuse related to the "petrol" problem just so that they cover themselves when I ask for my £300 for them misdiagnosing the problem. I don't expect them to tell me that the problem is the particulate filter but we'll see. Is there a chance that petrol in the tank could have caused a problem with the particulate filter?
  18. I think U don't know much about VIP/JDM style? I love them, thats most important ;) You're right on both counts! :)
  19. Ooh do you happen to have the sellers details? I was about to lay down the reddies and get them direct from Lexus. It was Hills of Woodford Toyota. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like they have any left.
  20. I got some new ones from ebay. They didn't look like the ones in the picture you posted (more like the ones in the link above from knitware) and they only cost £20! Really handy with the kids
