  1. So I popped in today to the local Lexus garage, as I discovered an odd buzzing noise; it happened when I pressed the start button to turn on the engine and only lasts a second or so. It also happens when I open the drivers door to get out the car. Lexus thought that it was something to do with the speedo/rev counter, only for a Technician to state that it is actually the steering lock engaging/disengaging. The service manager took me round some demos including a brand new 250 auto. And they all made the same noise. So there is nothing wrong with it after all - just a 'feature'. If a bit loud. Anyone else noticed this?
  2. Folks, Can't find the link to the LOC Store Anyone help? Ta
  3. Tinted by Richard at 'TintR' in Nottingham using Llumar film. The rear is 22% VLT & the front tint has 35% VLT, but if you use a light meter e.g. Tintman you'll find it's less for both as the OEM glass already has a light tint. The film is used in your area by TintTech. 35% is enough for me. Your car looks the biz.
  4. Cheers - what percentage tint is that front and rear - looks about 20% rear and 35% front?
  5. Folks, Getting the rear windows tinted at the weekend - 35% tint as per my old IS300 - £150. Does anyone have any pics of their vehicle having been done, so I could get a quick look beforehand. Mines is Argento Ice with Oakham leather, so hopefully it wont look too dark. Ta
  6. My car insurance is with Admiral - Fully Comp. Protected No Claims - £212. With a total £150 excess.
  7. Hi, Where can I buy the chrome Lexus brake caliper stickers? Has anyone put them on the 250 yet? Ta
  8. Hi all, not been on the forum for months, but thought I'd log on to tell you of the new car. Traded in the IS300 and bought a used IS250 SE Multimedia Auto. So far so good. Totally different car to drive and much more 'grown up' and well built. Having shown it around, the positive comments just keep on coming. The whole MM just cant fail to impress. And such good mpg! So its going to take a while to get used to all the new bits n pieces - does anyone have any tips on the car and MM system which I probably havent worked out yet? P.S. Thank god I didnt go for the Audi or BM option - dull. Its good to stay with the brand. Cheers!
  9. Hi all, Anyone got the new Honda Civic TypeR? What do you think? Thanks
  10. Ok, I messed around with the fuses and hey presto! Its still knacked. I dont get the Error 3 message anymore, but the CD's seem stuck.
  11. I know, but I'd prefer to keep the original look to be honest. I will probably be getting rid of the car soon (when a properly priced 250 comes up), but its now annoying me.
  12. Hi, Its been a while since I've been on the forum, so bear with me. You guessed it, the CD Player has my CD's stuck in it and it now produces the dreaded ERROR3 message. Can't believe it. I have read through all the forums for advice, but nothing to date has worked, although I havent actually removed the unit yet. I was on Ebay and saw a company with good feedback, stating they could repair the Lexus head unit for a sum of £220 inc. postage (still too expensive if you ask me). They state they are well experienced in working with the faults. They are MAPLE AUDIO, 4/5 Hayes Place, Bear Flat, Bath, BA2 4QW. Does anyone have any knowledge of this company? Also, has anyone tried their luck with Lexus GB on this matter - surely this is an inherent fault with the system? Thanks
  13. Hello all, A friend of mine has a 'V' plate IS200. In the morning, when it is cold, his central locking wont work. His remote batteries are all in good order. So he has to use the key to open the door, which sets off the alarm, etc etc. He called Edinburgh Lexus, who he stated were extremely unhelpful and couldnt assist. Does anyone have experience of this problem and a resolution? Thanks Murray
  14. Hello, I have an Ipod and obviously make use of Itunes I like the way it plays back on the PC and crossfades the tracks, which makes it sound better. Unfortunately Itunes doesnt allow you to burn these mixed tracks can anyone recommend some FREE software that I can mix tracks and then burn them? Cheers
  15. no you must be right the fact glass`s guide has a seperate section for lexus must mean they are nothing to do with toyota the fact that up untill last year they were made in a toyota factory by toyota, the fact that all lexus models were known as toyota in japan, the fact that you buy spares for lexus at the toyota spares outlet, the fact the spares come in boxes marked toyota we will just ignore them facts then in fact vauxhall are really opel :P Its a ridiculous debate Saab is GM Fiat own Ferrari Lamborghinis are originally tractors Audis are Skodas Rolls Royce are Beemers Lexus are owned by Toyota Only those that are jealous about the Lexus brand mock the Toyota ownership. After all Toyota are the biggest car company in the world and are the most reliable - since then was that a neagtive attribute? Who cares?
  16. I had a disaster this evening. I was fitting some new sidelights, the Led type. I was thinking they seemed kinda loose in the holder when I fitted them - you know where this is going.... I fitted the offside and all was ok. I fitted the nearside and 'clonk' - b*******!! The led light had fallen out the holder and was now lying in the bottom of the headlight. How was I going to fix this without it being expensive?? After much panic and wondering how to remove the headlight and 'melt' open the seals, I hatched an ingenious idea. I threaded a thin piece of wire into the headlight via the hole left by the sidelight - this took about an hour, I kid you not, it wasnt easy. Attached to the end of the wire was some 'Araldite'. Carefully I placed the end of the wire onto the LED and let it sit for half an hour. Then hey presto, I gently pulled the LED from inside the headlight. No need for expense, no need to bake the headlight in an oven at gas mark 4 for 20 minutes. In case it should happen to you..... :winky:
  17. I had exactly the same and still do, slightly - I got them changed 18 months ago - so it cant be a settling in issue - I always wondered what it was.....
  18. it is probably even more illegal to drive and take photos with your camera at the same time........... joking......
  19. Don't forget folks, the Yorkshire Ripper was caught on a routine stop by traffic officers...........
  20. apart from reversing lights then??? :duh: yes, reversin lights, rear number plate bulbs, interior light...........
  21. Just spoken to the 'horses mouth' so to speak and the above rule still applies - NO RED TO THE FRONT OR WHITE TO THE REAR. I think the classic example is during Xmas time when van drivers/taxi drivers have small illuminated Xmas trees on the dash. They can have any coloured bulb they like but not RED. Anyway, in relation to inspecting motor vehicles. Only an AUTHORISED officer (depends on the Force, not everyone is authorised) may inspect a motor vehicle - the driver should adhere to any reasonable request made by the officer and the officer himself may drive that vehicle for the purposes of a test. In general folks, don't fall out with the police. They'll be the first people you will call, when you really need them.
  22. It is not an offence (as Mr Fibble stated) to have the blue sidelights. It is an offence to have red ones. The rule is - NO RED TO THE FRONT and NO WHITE TO THE REAR. thats it fullstop. The only blue ones that you are not allowed are those which flash or rotate as if to replicate an emergency vehicle. I have absolutely no reason why they have asked you to go to the local police station - it is totally bizarre!!
  23. Nice - I notice you don't have the headlamp washers on the bumper - you need these to meet EU regs. Contact your dealer and get a new bumper for free!! The stonechips will be gone instantly!!
  24. I recall my local performance centre telling me exactly the same thing - buy a Mini One, upgrade the ECU and a Sports Exhaust, and you had the performance of a Cooper. Apparently...........
