  1. I've given up on Adrian Flux - they've almost always quoted more than double what any mainstream insurer has provided me with for a number of years running.
  2. I had issues with logging into the multimedia system. Another member kindly posted that you need to have the key practically touching the power button for it to register. Worked very well for me - first time actually, once I did that
  3. They dont normally come with manuals. Can request one from the dealer or alternatively download the PDF from the website
  4. The real reason is that many people don't buy them Steven Eagell took my RX at £3k more than WBAC They simply dont want saloons that they have difficulty selling on. Its all about the SUVs nowadays and the saloons are having a depreciation crisis in comparison
  5. You dont need an immobiliser on the RX500h unless really wanted for extra security. It has an encrypted canbus so it won't be for canbus theft but more for relay theft
  6. You've justified it wrongly then because you've always been able to choose your own repairer for an increased excess (usually £200) or free most of the time if youre not at fault. So unless its less than the £200 a year difference, there's no point going for Lexus insurance, and even then, you'd have to have a claim every year for it to make sense even at that difference!
  7. The obvious question is - have you tried a comparison site? Choose the cheapest one. The RX thefts in London are the cause of this.
  8. I found out on YouTube and it was actually a Toyota. Then research led to Lexus vehicles being affected and finally the availability of plates on this forum and got one by emailing Lexus directly. What you're suggesting is that owners should just buy any car without doing prior research which probably happens a lot but then we also have people who still have cheap barrel locks on their house which snaps with a pair of plyers
  9. Looks quite cool - the stance is on point Would be quite interested in one of these
  10. I sold mine 65 plate RX F-Sport to a Lexus dealer with 60k miles on it for £20k recently. its up for £24k. Theres a reason for the stringent sticker prices that Lexus dealers dont tend to sway from. Turned out its to do with the used car market as a whole and they would prefer to keep the sticker prices as high as possible (obviously) for the longest period of time. Therefore, more likely to give you more money for the PX or throw bits in
  11. So Ive hooked up the Noco Genius 2A (good discount from Halfords) and it took about 2 hours to fully charge. Currently on maintenance mode but doesnt appear like there's anything majorly wrong with the battery itself....... The battery is tiny though - 32ah standard 12v
  12. I disagree. It is in part the owners responsibility as well to understand their vehicle and the risks that come with that particular vehicle especially when there is a (free) solution to the issue, similiar to how they have responsibility of their property security / health etc etc etc. The whole world seems to know about Range Rover thefts and Keyless thefts of various marques for example. The problem is that humans are generally stupid and oblivious to their surroundings - it takes very little research to find canbus theft articles on Toyota / Lexus vehicles.
  13. Why would they offer you the plate? I understand that this is a difficult time but some of the responsibility does lie with the owner as to their car security. Many owners are well aware and had the protection plates fitted. I had mine done many many months ago when I had the 450h and the information is quite readily available
  14. The handbook suggests using the bare metal piece roughly in the center of the engine bay for the UXe
  15. All it's got is a dash cam which is 12v socket powered. It's taking 0.5amp when asleep so not much. Weirdly after the 20 mile drive on Sunday, it started first time today so took it for another 15 mile spin and left it on for 60 mins after. I've found my starter pack jump set so I could use that potentially. Used to use it for the lawnmower and for emergencies so should be fine. I'm going to get a trickle charger though as well and give it a full 2 days on there just to get the battery up if possible. Just been sent a Halfords 15% off code so why not
  16. Will have to see. Car is under 3 years old so wouldn't expect a battery to die on any car during that time. Solar charger wont be any good as the car is garaged. There is a mains about 3m from the vehicle so will have to use an extension lead.
  17. Great stuff - have one on order Im just wondering, do any of you have something to prevent the battery from discharging in the first place?
  18. Nice one, looks like a good bit of kit and certainly small enough to keep in the car
  19. Its already off I had an issue 6 months into ownership where the battery would discharge every 3 days despite being driven daily. I turned it off an its been fine since. So the battery today when AA man came was at 6V. With car locked and key away it was using 0.5V so no parasitic drain as such. Car was charging the battery at 16V when it turned on but this went down to 9.5V. Ive taken it out for a 20 mile journey to see what happens. Which battery charger have you got? Im thinking either a jump starter pack or a trickle charger
  20. So the 12v battery on the UX300e is tiny. I went on holiday for 12 days thinking it should be fine - obviously was discharged on my return. It was started by AA and I took it for a 15 min drive thinking that would be enough to sort it out - unfortunately wasnt and 1 day later it discharged itself. 2 questions really - what is the best solution for this? a trickle charger and any recommendations (ive never used one so don't even know where to start and how to set it up) or something else?
  21. Can't be done. I do think it's a better solution though than in some German cars where you need to turn it off for small movements or parking. Think Mercedes takes it though for the function of theirs which is activated by pressing the brake down harder than normal.
  22. The key syncing definitely works when held up to the power button - didnt know that was a thing but glad its sorted. Will register my face at some point! Many thanks!
  23. I have the same issue. Do you mean the key when you say remote? Didn't realise you had to hold the key near the start button
  24. I would appeal on their website stating that the letter was received after 15 days to no fault of your own (Christmas holidays, postal backlog etc etc). They should reduce it to the lower amount. At that point just pay it. Parking eye have and will take people to court, sometimes it also ends up on your credit report if not paid and they issue proceedings.
  25. Doesn't matter what brand is fitted as long as it's the same size and load rating / run flat. Can get these at most tyre shops
