  1. You need to make your case about why your car was worth more than offered in writing to them. I.e. you definitely need to send over similar examples on autotrader or Lexus dealer websites atleast 5. You also need to make the point that currently CAP prices that they use are not representative of the current market. You also need to send over service history / MOT / Invoices if applicable for the vehicle. You also need to make the point across that the insurer has a responsibility to put you in the same position as you were prior to the vehicle being stolen and their offer would considerably put you out of pocket. You can always threaten to take to small claims court as well as the financial ombudsman. Its common for insurers to give you a low ball figure to begin with. Make sure you don't limit yourself to 50 miles when searching similiar vehicles by the way as they do take the value across the country into account, not just in one area
  2. Website isn't accurate sometimes In the first instance compare to the brochure.
  3. Seems like the southern ones have the most complaints. Never had any problems with Lexus Leeds, Stockport, Chester
  4. Id aim for a refund. Its unlikely theyd do anything about the actual marks themselves - you will have to sort that out yourself. Get a hairdryer on it, itll sort it out but if you're going to leave it for a month itll make it more difficult
  5. That's the case with most cars and indeed the 4th generation RX as well. The solution is either to have the seal higher up which would lead to dirty trousers or as it is now where the dirt is on inside of the door and cleaned by the owner.
  6. Unless its a medical emergency - its not touched. The hair transplantee is asked to go back to the provider who did it similiar to most private operations.
  7. Number plates aren't worth anything unless someone wants to pay for them as mentioned already. £500 maybe as a starting point if you were going to sell and assess interest from there.
  8. I mean, I had a repair job sent to Lexus and it took a week - whole rear bumper repair. It really does depend on which dealer / bodyshop you use. I use the RRG bodyshop in Bolton by the way just in case anyone needs to use them for Lexus cars. For any insurance work you can use your own repairer
  9. They are underneath the glove box. You have to get your head down underneath there and there is a small cover that pulls off revealing the fuses
  10. The other option is you could get something like Carly dongle and with the dealers permission stick it in the USB port and run the "used car check" built in. It will have the confirmed service history dates and mileage in KM. There is a chance the paperwork has been lost. With most car manufacturers now, their approved used scheme just means that it has been checked and warranted - they don't have to have a full service history or a manufacturer service history at all as long as the supplying dealer has inspected and serviced it.
  11. Not a massive concern. Old car - bound to have some missing history and the main thing would be condition / mileage. Check mileages between MOTs, if its done less than 20k in those 4 years I wouldn't be hugely concerned providing the price is right.
  12. In that case sounds like a flat battery in the key fob. The key fobs have a backup secondary battery for when the main key battery is low/dead which is where the "push the start button with the fob" thing comes from. Id change it and see if it begins to work again. I have had that once where the car opens up, can recognise the fob is in the vicinity of the car but then doesn't recognise it inside.
  13. They don't have to be turned off. Its up to the owner whether they want to take the risk or not and regardless, they are still a feature and selling point irrespective of their security issues. Think about new home which are built - theyre sold with locks which can be snapped in less than 10s by a burglar. The owner upgrades these locks or takes the risk and I dont think the home companies provide a disclaimer suggesting that their house is at risk of being burgled due to the locks that have been fitted. Cars still get stolen without keyless entry - thieves frequently enter homes to grab the keys even now.
  14. I have no idea about IT and therefore can't comment on most of what you have written above. Keyless cars have been in existence for a long time. The keyless theft didn't become a huge issue until about 2-3 years ago. Again, with the canbus issues, the RXs have been out since 2016 and these thefts have only started about 1 year ago. The point being is that most things can be "cracked" and cars stolen given enough time has passed. The solutions are available - i.e. turn off the keyless feature if you prefer and it is a well enough known problem covered by the media that the general public should know by now about this.
  15. Best thing to do is call the AA out - they will trailer it to Lexus and they can do the diagnosis. Not sure what could have caused it apart from a corrupt OTA update Lexus Link on some cars cause the drain because the module on the car never shuts off when it should be doing.
  16. Michelin CC2's are good in the wet, and the snow. The ratings dont mean anything much - they're rated by the manufacturer themselves. All it means is that the wet performance may not be as good as the Michelin Pilot Sport 5s but they may be better than another tyre. I've had absolutely no issues in the wet with them so I think it would be slightly foolish to discard them considering how good they really are as an all year round tyre
  17. I genuinely dont see what your problem is. Its ignorant to suggest that keyless entry should be removed from the specification list. Many owners use it everyday and find it extremely useful. They are either willing to take the risk of keeping it active, or adding their own aftermarket devices to protect their vehicle. Your "Solution" suggests removing it entirely and giving owners no choice whatsoever
  18. This is an utterly ridiculous post. Firstly, this is not a Lexus only issue, many vehicles with keyless entry have exactly the same problem. I can't see any other manufacturers offering anything vaguely similiar to what you have suggested. Additionally, security risks have always existed. Its the owners responsibility to protect their vehicle too and there is an option to turn the keyless entry off, either temporarily through the buttons on the keyfob or in the menus of the infotainment system permanently. Third party immobilisers are available as well. All my cars have had keyless entry since 2012. Lexus as a manufacturer have fitted keyless entry to their car and as far as their responsibility lies, its to provide the option to turn it off if the owner wants to. They have no further responsibility whatsoever apart from that.
  19. Its a common issue in London and hence why they've had protection plates out to prevent theft for a few months now. Won't help now but get them fitted by the dealer when its done to prevent it happening in the future.
  20. You can still get in the car. It used to happen consistently on the UX 300e where lexus link was on and every 2-3 days even if it was driven the car would unlock and open as normal but wouldnt start because the 12V battery was flat. Nevertheless, looks like its not the issue anyway as the battery is fully charged in OPs case
  21. 12V battery will be flat causing this. Likely due to Lexus Link app. Turn it off and you won't have the problem
  22. Supagard is rubbish. Its a sealant and not a very good one. Most of the time slapped on by valeters without proper preparation. I dont think anyone has got it to last 6 months nevermind 1 year or whatever they claim In the first instance I would use a hairdryer on the bird marks - they certainly dont need polishing straight away. Sustained heat for 5 minutes should cause it to disappear. Secondly, I would try to get a refund of the supagard and get a detailer to apply a proper ceramic coating
  23. Although its not really a fair comparison. Ive got the Merc W205 and the build quality is rubbish in comparison. Squeaks, rattles all over which I had to rectify, and its the same with all the newer models. Not just an isolated case either, the forums are rife with it. Ride quality is okay but only after removing the run flats - still relatively harsh and nowhere near as quiet as the Lexus on a move. I dont think many Lexus come with passenger memory seats..... Merc reliability is rubbish too - Ive had about £3k worth of work done on a car with 40k miles. And lets not forget about the "Artico" pleather which screams vinyl. The Lexus offering is much better. I do genuinely think the Merc is very good at looking very good and giving the impression of quality, but its certainly not a quality product. I believe the W206 is even worse - material quality is worse lower down than the W205
  24. As above should be covered.
