Yes can see those but there's no reference to being able to change any speed sensitive lock/unlock setting. Previous to today my doors stayed locked when stopping in traffic etc...today they unlock each time I stop automatically even though the car is still in D(rive) .

No setting for that and not how it should work.

Get this shown to the dealer as its not exactly safe in terms of car jacking.

The driver's side wiper blade on my NX300h has split in exactly the same place, twice in the last 12 months. Last December I replaced the original 2019 blades with a new OEM set from Lexus Parts Direct. In July I noticed that the driver's side had already split only 6 months later. I had to order new a new one from LPD to replace it (they wouldn't offer any warranty replacement on it)... then today I've noticed the new one has split again, in exactly the same place. Any one else had this? I'm now thinking that I have some sort of problem with the wiper that is causing the blades to keep splitting. 🤔🤔🤔

To be clear, the problem is at the far right hand side of the offside (long) wiper (so the bottom of the blade sweep).

Might be an issue with the wiper arms

Having said that the flat style Lexus wipers are rubbish. Change them to Bosch ones and see if you have any issues. Will probably be cheaper than oem too

  3. Ive looked into this further.

It seems that if you go on settings > Drive assist and hit the notification tab you should have options for "excess speed caution options", "speed limit change notification"

If you change the speed limit notification slider to off, it will come on again when you start the vehicle. Instead, leave it permanently on and change the "excess speed caution options" to "visual".

That should leave the system on but it shouldnt give you an annoying bong all the time. It seems to have worked in the States but lets see if it works here in the UK

My wife and I have recently purchased a new RX350h and I am getting frustrated with audible warnings relating to speed limits, both changing of limit or exceeding the limit. I have looked through items in this and other forums, but cannot find what I am looking for.

I have used the options I can find in the various menus, and successfully muted these audible warnings.  Unfortunately these settings only seem to be transient as next time I drive the car the audible warnings are still given.

    • Obvious cause is that I am doing something wrong, don’t know what ,but suggestions welcome.
    • Second possibility is that it needs to be integrated into my driver profile.  I have not found out how to do this, but it would be very useful as my wife, who also drives the, does not have the same need.
    • Third option is a bug in the software, but, I think with Lexus, this is EXTREMELY unlikely.

Any help would be very much appreciated

    Thanks

It's not a bug. Supposedly designed so you have to turn it off each time you drive.

Having said that I think the Americans found a way to turn it off permanently. I'll do some research and see what comes up

  5. Thats a very low offer for a 19 plate ES.

Just give it time - you'll always have time wasters and low ballers.

You can always put it up on motorway or carwow.

I think the lowest priced one on Autotrader is £20k. They probably want to make a large chunk of money! Roughly £5k!

    Hi All,

Can I get some opinions on tyres to put on my IS300h.

I currently have Dunlop Maxx RT on all corners as I did not like the firm ride from the original Bridgestone's. They're not bad, but I find they wear a little quicker than other tyres I have had and they suffer from crawing (I think its called when it slides on the edge of the tyre when you full lock).

    I'm currently considering:

    - Goodyear F1 Asymmetric 6

    - Bridgestone Turanza T005 (which I believe are new and softer than the previous Turanza's I had)

    Any feedback/opinions, would be great.

Also, my car is an F-Sport. Front wheel tyres are 225/40/R18 rears are 225/35/R18 and are much more limited in choice and more expensive than fronts. Does anybody know if you can use 225/40/R18 on the back as well or it will cause issues?

Lastly, I need to change a TPMS sensor. Lexus have quoted me £86 for the one ands my mechanic can program for another £40. Has anybody used a non Lexus sensor and did it work ok? Or should I not risk it? I find their parts are exceptionally expensive. It's £210 per sensor supplied and fit at my local Lexus dealership.

    Cheers,

    Ken

I believe you are having the crabbing issue.

The goodyear F1 Asymmetric 6 are heavily performance orientated. They're extremely good in the dry and wet when its warm but they become quite hard and slippy in temperature less than 10 degrees. I quite often spin them out in my c-class.

Its funny you should mention the Bridgestone Turanza T005. Ive had these fitted to the rear of the C class 1 month ago and they replaced the Asymmetric 6s. I find them softer and quieter. Also more of an all rounder than the Asymmetric 6.

I believe you can use other TPMS sensors and have them calibrated to the car. Dont think there are any major issues

Id like to purchase a 2016 RX450H. However I think the price is pretty steep and also hear SUV prices are down and slow sales in Nov/Dec.

They say its an auto price but whats the best approach and where is best place to find a realistic comparison?

Ticket price is £27k. Any advice welcome!

There's little information in your post to suggest a reasonable price.

How many miles, what trim / spec and overall condition of the vehicle including MOTs / services and is it at an independent dealer, private seller or main dealership?

SUV prices are actually up in November and December due to pending winter / poor weather.

Perhaps. But the equipment isn’t my biggest issue. The drive really is good (ride quality excepted), but the general decline in interior quality combined with the big screen mean it’s a no from me. Hard plastics on the front door tops? Really? For £70k?!

    Just my opinion, obviously.

I mean I didnt notice anything unusual with the door cards - the ones ive had were the F-Sport and the Takumi though so they both had suede lined doors

    Hi all,

absolutely devastated, just scratched my black alloy on a kerb due to an incompetent driver (not me 🙄

does anyone know where I can purchase authentic black alloy paint?

    Thanks all

    very upset Sarah 😢😢😢

Its hard to know what the exact colour match is unfortunately as there is no paint code

I would first start with Velvet black 212 as thats likely to be the colour.

Otherwise it may need a spot repair - non metallic black is quite easy to spot repair

Really? Honestly I do not know how my previous cars as I never experienced, and tried my wife´s current one (Toyota) and it´s impossible to lock if not fully closed.

Making sure will mean to walk around always to see if children closed all doors properly when leaving the car:(

Yep happened on all my RXs. And the Merc too, as well as the new Golf.

My two year old RX 450h is having its second service today, and as a courtesy car I have the new model RX 350h Premium. Interesting to drive them back to back and compare.

What do I like about the new RX?
    - it feels far more nimble to drive, and noticeably sharper than the previous model RX

    - performance is strong. I’d worried about the drop in engine capacity and the added turbocharger, but I couldn’t notice much difference in performance, if any.

Unfortunately that’s about all I am positive about!

    - styling - which I know is subjective - doesn’t do it for me. The colour I’ve been given doesn’t help, being Sonic Copper which I don’t think suits the car at all. The rear quarter view is dumpy and, to me, has more than a hint of Maxi/Allegro about it! Yes, really…and the front view is just ugly.

    - ride quality. The drive is sharper, but the trade-off is ride comfort. On the exact same roads it was noticeably jittery in comparison, and I much prefer a softer ride

    - quality. To me, it feels as though interior quality has declined. Some of the plastics don’t do a car of this price justice imho, and certainly feels like a step backwards. Also, why remove things like proper door handles (seems like the answer to a question nobody asked) and kickplates on the rear door sills etc. The column stalks feel cheaper too. I guess weight saving is at the heart of this, but again given the price I’m underwhelmed!

    - tech. I just don’t like the big central screen being something of a Luddite. Yes, I’d get used to that, but I don’t want to!

    - equipment. Given the price increase over my current RX, I’m surprised to see no glass roof, no HUD etc. It is well equipped but the comparison given the price difference doesn’t sit well with me.

Don't get me wrong, it’s a good car. I do like it. Problem is, I don’t like it as much as the previous model…

Is it cos perhaps you're comparing apples to oranges?

I think the Premium is the lowest spec in the range so won't have the options you've mentioned. The premium plus does have the option to add a panoramic roof amongst the other gubbins.

I found the ride smoother tbh. I wonder if it's the ridiculous tyre pressures the dealerships put it at. The loaner I had was running 40 psi

In general the RX is still good value compared to other vehicles. X5 to a similar spec is almost £10k more as is the GLE

Hello, let me raise an issue I have faced with my new NX350h, I am curious if some of you experienced and how is your car status. Once the alarm started suddenly, few minutes after I left the car. Luckily I was still very close to it so went back, and the reason was the car was locked but the rear door was not fully closed. I didn´t know this is possible, tried to simulate again and confirmed the same with both rear doors. Repeatedly, the locking system is made this way - if I push the doors slowly, in some moment a sensor recognizes them as closed, it´s visible also on the screen inside, but physically it´s still partially open. Car can be locked, it looks fully locked, but then a small vibration or whatever small movement of the door is making the sensor off, the system is evaluating it as unauthorized opening and alarm starts...

I called my dealer, telling me this is impossible and asked me to come. Showed to him there, he was surprised, and he tried his own NX and it was exactly same, just he did not recognized before. So he told me this is probably  a standard design of locking on this generation NX.

Can you please try it with yours and tell me your opinion about that?

    Thanks a lot!

    I'm not surprised

Because every car I've owned does the same. Just make sure it's properly closed

I don’t honestly know what I would get and how vulnerable it would be but I now know that a Lexus ES300h is very vulnerable. I wouldnt have peace of mind with another Lexus sat outside.

I recovered the dash cam and was able to watch the whole event and subsequent journey, not possible to identify anyone except hearing them speak

Can you please write to Lexus UK and let them know - I believe they havent released the protection plates for the ES as they think its not as much of a problem with them compared to the RX so every attempted theft needs to be emailed to them.

Also, how did they take the car with the steering lock on?

    Good afternoon all,

Quick question on everyone's favourite topic here - tyres! Currently looking for a new set, was looking at Michelin Crossclimate 2's, as per the general recommendation and consensus on here but have seen that Costco have Goodyear Vector 4Seasons Gen-3 SUV's at the moment for less than £480 fitted which seems like great value.

I guess the question is whether or not Crossclimates are really worth the extra £200?

    Thanks

I dont think they'll be worth the additional £200

Go for the Goodyears - they also have good reviews

    Hi there

My RX 450h 2021 was stolen using the can bus method just over a week ago in London. It was due to have the anti theft plate fitted just a few days later.

The insurance offer was quite a bit lower than expected. I have researched the same model, year and similar mileage on the Lexus website and Autotrader to compare.

The valuer told me that they take an average value across the country which seems a bit unusual as I would be looking within 50 miles at most

He also told me that he would not accept any examples from me of other cars for sale or change the offer.

The only option if I disagree is to dispute this offer, in which case it gets passed to an engineer who will evaluate the offer but will not take any examples from me. After this I can complain to the Financial Ombudsman. This may not be successful as by the time they look at the complaint the value of the car would have dropped.

Has anyone had experience of this and managed to get a better offer, which steps did you take?

    thanks in advance

    tk561

You need to make your case about why your car was worth more than offered in writing to them.

I.e. you definitely need to send over similar examples on autotrader or Lexus dealer websites atleast 5.

You also need to make the point that currently CAP prices that they use are not representative of the current market.

You also need to send over service history / MOT / Invoices if applicable for the vehicle.

You also need to make the point across that the insurer has a responsibility to put you in the same position as you were prior to the vehicle being stolen and their offer would considerably put you out of pocket.

You can always threaten to take to small claims court as well as the financial ombudsman.

Its common for insurers to give you a low ball figure to begin with.

Make sure you don't limit yourself to 50 miles when searching similiar vehicles by the way as they do take the value across the country into account, not just in one area
