  1. Thanks for the updates, off to Lexus I go then, hopefully they will be able to sort it. I have had another electrical issue with the car where the whole center console stopped working apart from the screen and the stereo, this has been to Lexus and they couldn't figure that out, it kept coming back intermittently and going off again, not sure if linked or just symptomatic of lots of dodgy electrical work (Seems unlikely from Lexus though)
  2. I have a 2007 GS450H and after using the car an parking up the other day I pressed the start button to turn the engine off but the climate control fans stayed on and the headlights also stayed on after opening the door (They are set to automatic and should turn off at this point) I have pressed the start button multiple times and started and stopped the engine but it won't turn the electrics off. I am also unable to lock the car with the central locking as it recognises the ignition is still turned on and have to lock it with the key, I can see the start button is illuminated as well. Eventually the battery drained and the alarm started going off and the battery died, I had to jump start the battery and drove around to charge it up but when I finished it exhibited the same behaviour again. Any ideas? anyone ever heard of anything like this before?
  3. Hi My 2007 GS 450H Clock & Outside temperature is not displaying, it is just off. I have checked the owners manual and looked at the fuse guide and searched the internet but cannot see anything about this. I couldn't see anything to do with the clock display in the fuse guide and checked every fuse inside the car on the left and right hand side at the front but couldn't see any blown fuses. Also when I press any of the buttons next to the screen nothing happens, the screen is on and I can turn the audio on by pressing the volume / power button, but the map / info / climate / audio buttons do nothing. Anyone have any ideas which specific fuse I should be looking at or any other ideas to try next? Thanks in advance.
  4. Many thanks for the reply Conor, the description of the air suspension is a huge help, it does sound like it is functioning as it should, thanks. We can live with the lights as well but no cd's would be pretty annoying, does anyone know how easy it is to get the system looked into or to add a usb lead to add an ipod so there would be some way of playing something other than the radio?
  5. Hi I just helped my parents purchase a 2004 Lexus RX300 SE-L but there are a few little things I need advice on. It has the Mark Levinson 6 CD stereo, but when I press the load button the green light flashes to insert a cd and no matter what CD I try it goes all the way in makes a sound and is then ejected. Has anyone come across this before or have any ideas? I did a search on the forums and saw lots of issues on IS's with similar things stating there may be an incorrect disc in but I'm not sure there is as pressing 'Disc' when the radio is on does nothing. The air suspension........I know there are issues, but I tested it before I bought and it seemed to be working, I'm not sure how long it should take to go to the high setting but it seems to take at least a minute and then after about 5 minutes I have noticed it has switched back to normal setting again, have tried a few times and it keeps doing this. It appears to be ok in normal or low mode but doesn't stay in high mode very long, is this right or is it a fault? Finally the auto lights, not sure where the sensor is but the lights are always on when driving, it was bright sunshine today, not a cloud in the sky and the middle of the day and the headlight icon was on on the dashboard and the lights were on? After parking up, I got out of the car, locked it, started to walk away and then noticed the headlights were still on. There was no warning buzzer when I opened the door and I went back in to check it was on auto and confirmed it was, turned it to full and back to auto and then the lights went off. Doesn't appear to be operating correctly either. :( Anyone have any ideas on this one?
  6. This means the alarm wasn't set, whether that is a condition of the insurance policy I couldn't say. The console screen is essentially the same for a Nav and non-nav vehicles. The cost is probably correct from a UK main dealer. Hi Thought I'd give an update and also say thanks to everyone for their advice. I advised the insurance company what I think happened, was that the battery drained whilst, we were exiting the car as someone was sat in the car with the lights on for about 20 minutes after parking and then the drivers side door was locled with the key, if the battery was drained it wouldn't engage the central locking and checking the drivers door was locked we walked off into the house not realising the other 3 doors were unlocked. Given this the insurance company changed their mind, it may also have had something to do with posting a review on reviewcentre as advised here and speaking to one of their public relations team who has been looking into my grievances with the whole claim. The car has now been declared a total loss as to replace the screen and the damage to outside was about £5-6K They never told me exactly how much. My parents will be picking up their replacement next Saturday a Lexus RX300 2004 SE-L in Dark Grey and they are very happy with this. Again just wanted to thank everyone for their help.
  7. They stripped the car of everything that was in the glove compartment and the centre armrest, their haul amounted to a set of caravan keys, a chamois leather and the felt bottom of the centre armrest compartment, I believe annoyance that there wasn't anything else worthwhile in there stealing. In reply to the question if they didn't smash the screen that would mean I did it for an insurance payout, the screen was working perfectly, if it hadn't been I would have been asking questions on a forum such as this about how easy it would be to replace it and where can I source the parts from.... This insurance company flatly refused to even consider replacing the caravan keys with an alarm fob on them as I should claim that on my 'house insurance' My parents do not have cover for items out of the home, but this insurance company didn't care, that is some insight into the minds of Hastings Direct insurance company. On a side note if anyone is ever thinking of using them, this claim was logged with them on the 22/12/2013 I have had to call them every day since about the 25/01/14 to push them along, their level of incompetence is staggering. there has been nothing in writing from them at any point, no phone calls form them and I only finally got wind that they will not out on damage to the interior yesterday, nearly 2 months after reporting it to them. The crash repairers sent them their report on 17/01/14 and they apparently never received it, Nor did they receive it the 2nd, 3rd, 4th or 5th times when I chased it and confirmed it had been emailed through. Not once did Hastings chase it up in 2 weeks that nothing was happening.
  8. Thanks for the updates guys, I am not sure of the insurance company & repairers competence anyway - they were quoting about £2,000 to replace the navigation screen, but it is a non-navigation model and as far as I am aware they are 2 different screens? Would anyone know if it easy to get hold of a replacement non navigation screen and whether fitting it is easy? Thanks in advance
  9. Hi My parents Lexus RX300 was broken into and the thieves smashed the centre console display, the insurers are refusing to pay out as they say their engineer can't see any evidence of a break in (No damage or smashed window) Their Lexus is a 52 plate 2002 Lexus RX300 and they are positive the doors were locked when it was left. Has anyone ever had this happen to a Lexus RX300 or know any ways it could happen to go back to the insurance company? They basically asked me to prove how someone got into the car to which I replied I didn't know as I am not a burglar or a car thief, I was slightly annoyed with them at the time! The only other relevant piece of information I can think of is the remote key doesn't work so they lock the car from the drivers side door lock with the key and when they discovered the theft the battery was dead on the car. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
  10. Hi I have had a GS450H for about 6 months including a service with Lexus Milton Keynes. I have looked in the manual and can't see an answer to my query. Is the boot supposed to open automatically and fully extend when you press the boot release button on the dash or on the key? I have read that it automatically closes when you close the boot to halfway (This doesn't work on my car, I asked Lexus to look at this and they didn't bother) Has anyone else had any issues with the closing of the boot, if I close it right down it seems to mechanically connect then and close the boot. I just don't know how the system works or how I go about trying to get it working properly. Any help would be gratefully received. Thanks
