  1. Going to a main car dealer isnt always best option only thing i think of is FLSH that may be better for resale value ? if theres a reputable japanese car specialist i try there & you still save alot money for just as good quality of work imo/experience, luckily where i live i got a toyota/lexus specialist thats top notch, gd service & excellent work etc.....& uses OEM toyota parts, they got few a few ex toyota techs working there, Get In ! so if you find somewhere like that it be a bonus, i only use a lexus garage if its under warranty like a new car or fairly new bought from them.......
  2. Judging by pictures of various cars here in this site can anyone care to share experience of 'replica' kits they fitted/had fitted to thier cars ? i found 2 site selling the OEM style front spoiler designed for original front bumper (TRD as most call it) replikit sell it for £159 & typerkits.com sell it for 99 euro's think its a irish site, my previous 323f i had no problems with a fbre glass front spoiler nor did i with a fibre glass body kit for my altezza years ago but the chosen body kit the place i bought from for my altezza either dont sell them anymore or stop trading but i wouldnt choose that style given another chance anyway!! i want to go for OEM :) however a fibreglass bumper i stay away from goes without saying jst as well i no plans changing bumpers !
  3. I agree with Rory here, guess its the perks of being a 'older' driver well ok 28 y/o i am, i thought insurance co's were clamping down on people as named drivers using a car as a main driver few yrs ago i know lot people use to do this few still do so it seems like people buy a cheap runaround car so they be insured to drive another car under their parents name. :duh: another reason why insurance cost alot is people claiming when they shouldnt(false claims & claiming more than necceasary so they can spend more on goodies) did i say driving too fast then crashing due to car being too powerful & same reason why speed limit is 70 in uk, how many times you go 70 or little bit more & still get tailgated & seeing the car /lorry behind you flashing their headlights as they want to go faster, it be same story if speed limit is raised to 80 no wonder insurance is high :(
  4. Im lost here.... it cant be £440 yuor mate paying ? is it a lexus IS your talking about ? you're lost cos you didn't read the last line of my post? ie what was planned to be £440 per year was changed to the current rate of £245 Yeah i realised after wards sorry ! didnt edit as i switched off comp & go sleep lol, never knew this was planned at the time pointless seeing the state of roads in UK & dont get me started when it snows lots excuses as to why the roads wernt grit :tsktsk:

  6. I was thinking that then i looked it up just now, its 98-2001 your pay £112.86 half yr then after(2001 onwards) that its £134.75 half year even though the performance & co2 emissions are same ??!! stupid government!!! so i have to pay £134 or £245 as mines a 53reg :( Is it?? please correct me?? i dont want to pay that amount!

  8. Thanks for reply nah isnt a dodgy car dealer i bought from a reputable one that gets alot of his cars from car main dealers, in my case he got my lexus from lexus of reading i know all of his cars he sells dont include them he may be able to buy from me if i requested, but i think im capable of buying it myself unless he can get if for me with no extra charge, no such thing as free lunch! & yes i got the log book & relevant paper work with the car ! & the taxdisc site still says i got no insurance(i have it just started today) so cant proceed to buy yet!! & insurance comp says it could take up to 7 or 10 days for them to update their site!!!!what a surprise more inconvenience from these people!! grr!! :(
  9. Make sure its been serviced, make s big different in terms of sound, fuel comsumption when a car is fully serviced, also where in China you from ? Im from Hong Kong but living in UK now, i came back from Hong Kong last month & while over there i went to China for a day trip to visit family as that part China is not far from HK, i didnt see many IS200's china i see alot Lexus ES300 & some Ls430
  10. OK I took delivery of a Lexus is200 on saturday before i bought the car i asked if it includes road tax the garage owner said something about new rule that they dont include them you need to buy it yourself ? Then i tried buying tax online & said i couldnt as i dont have valid insurance ok fine i wait as is going to be valid from 1 nov(jst as well i didnt as it said it be valid from 01/10/2010 losing a month & still paying full whack i think not) & something else on taxdisc website while typing info about the car it said 'A new licence is not due for this vehicle until: 01 02 2011' so it seems the tax is still valid from its last owner for a good few months but i havent got a tax on the window hence not comfortable driving it mean time so question is can i drive it legally without one displayed on window? its not as if tax expired & still driving the car as i know the answer to that one. Or would it be case of new owner, new tax ? That seems like wasting unnessecary money imo
  11. It is easier to key agree but im thinking if the alarm key pad is worn or suddenly not work then how you lock the doors??? as my old corolla key pad was worn i then got a new key pad was the only way to work,so in mean time i used the key at the time, same story with a mates Rover 25, aother mates Honda Civic, both tried changing battery, no go so in end new key pad was only way. + as said alot other cars isnt like this, Thanks for clearing that up though !
  12. Got my car today 2003 IS200 SE, everything seems fine but the central lock, can you manually central lock the car using the key rather than key pad? as using the key to lock all doors doesnt seem to work ! it only works using the key pad button, my old altezza didnt come with a factory fit alarm so that was different! & i all my other cars i owned (toyota, nissan & mazda's) with a alarm key pad you can use the key to central lock & unlock the car if you didnt want to use the key pad button.
  13. According to What car? the IS200d is available as automatic option but yet again What car? said the IS220d had a auto option just before it got replaced by the IS200d....dont think the IS220d did tho.
