  1. All, I have had a quick look at trading standards regarding my issue with Lexus Oxford and came across this article: http://www.gateshead.gov.uk/Council%20and%20Democracy/news/News%20Articles/Motor%20Trader%20Guilty%20of%20Misleading%20Customers.aspx It is not identical to my situation but pretty close. I have pointed this out to the Lexus dealership. Steve
  2. Thanks for the posts but I reckon the small print "All offers & cars are subject to availability and change without further notice..." covers them not offering it, despite the e-mail offer detailing an identical deal. Dave1 - I can't paste the e-mail as it was all html and images etc. They did come back with a revised offer. However this was less that 50% of the vehicle price, over 60months at 6.4% APR. This might not sound too bad, providing you are not comparing it against 50% of the vehicle cost over 60months at 0% APR. I suppose this all comes down to the existing versus new customer issue. I am an existing Lexus customer - I have an IS 250 that has been in to this dealership for upgrades and services etc over the last 12 months. They clearly see me as a 'Lexus man' all the way, after all I am looking to buy my second Lexus in as many years. This unfortunately gives them the impression I will buy come-what may. Well this attitude lost Oxford Lexus a guaranteed sale and also my future custom; I'll not be using them for my services next year. I'm not paying anymore than was offered in the e-mail deal and I don't have the time or patience for these kind games. If they can't honour it then they shouldn't advertise it. Steve
  3. I have not been able to find a post about this, probably as it may not be restricted to just Lexus. Anyway, my query regards a specific offer run by two Lexus dealers - Oxford and Liverpool. The deal was sent to me via e-mail and indicated that they were offering 0% APR up to 5 years on a used Lexus. Great deal I thought. However, when I looked at their worked example (sent in the e-mail) it became apparent (it was not stated explicitly) that the 5 years APR only applied on 50% of the vehicle value. Still undeterred, as this deal brought the value of the particular vehicle within budget (initial outlay at least), and gave me 5 years to pay off the rest, I made an enquiry, went down to the show room for a test drive. Following the test drive the sales assistant went through deal and told me that I could only get 24 months APR!! This was despite the e-mail I received having a worked example on exactly the model/year/colour I was looking at, and at roughly the same price (less £500). I was just wondering if anyone had had any experience with this sort of thing, either from these two dealerships or in general? It is quite frustrating because it means my monthly payments are more than double what I had anticipated and as my initial outlay is almost my total budget, the high monthly payments now make a very attractive offer practically worthless. I am wondering if they are allowed to do this as surely this could fall under trade descriptions. Can I insist on the 5year 0% APR from the dealer as they advertised it in their e-mail? Cheers SJB
  4. Thanks for all the posts on this topic. I have decided to update my Sat Nav discs to the latest version which apparently modifies the firmware and allows functions to be accessed on the move. I am doing this through my local Lexus dealer as it is just easier that way. However, if you go down this route you may have to eduate the staff that the unlocking function is available on the newer versions of the software. My initial enquiries with the showroom personel regarding this were met with negativity, inisting that the locked screen is always a 'feature' even in the upgrade. Only after some gentle coaxing to make enquries with the technical side of the dealership did they realise it was really an option. I have not had it installed yet but will confirm its functionality when it has been done. Unfortunately, with regard to my origional post, my Lexus experience is getting worse as each week passes. It's not the place to discuss it here but if your interested in tales of Lexus woe, see my recent post in the "caliper seized " thread in the IS 250 Brakes and Suspension forum. SJB27
  5. Oh by the way, I forgot to mention my IS 250 with all the issues above has [apparently] only covered 15292 miles. Also, I should say I'm annoyed with Wolverhampton Lexus not Oxford, the latter have been very helpful thus far. SJB27
  6. I have similar problems with my Lexus IS 250 SE. I have a 57 plate which I purchased just over 2 months ago from Wolverhampton Lexus. I had a couple off minor issues with it but nothing that I thought was particulary probelmatic; door trim rising up and some tyre catch when on full lock. However, this week I got an amber engine and traction control light appear in my dash and a message to "check VSC". Lexus, Oxford told me not to drive the vehicle and get it rceovered to them ASAP, which I did using the Lexus roadside assistance. Incidently, this was a very good service by the way. However, today I have received the news that my rear brake calipers seized, I have warped front brake discs, a dangerous bulge in the near side front tyre and odd wear across all four tyres (2, 5, 2, which all need replacing. My issues are currently beign assesed for repair under my extended warranty so I'm not sure yet what I will have to pay for. However, it seesm likely that I am going to get stung for four new tyres at £200 a pop! Unless I can prove that this has been caused due to negligent vehicle preparation by Wolverhampton. All I intended to get sorted this week was the passenger side door trim and an update to my Sat Nav.I now appear to have a virtually unusable vehicle which I have owned for little over 2 months and covered only 2900 miles. It looks like to get it back on the road I am going to need to spend a minimum of £1000 (4 new tyres and a Sat Nav). Lexus "peace of mind", my a**e, their getting a piece of my mind tomorrow!!
  7. Apologies if I am asking questions that have previously been posted, but I am new to this forum and have been searching for ages for an answer to my problem. I took receipt of my 07 plate IS 250 SE with Sat Nav and multimedia last Saturday (30th). Unfortunately the Wolverhampton dealership did not provide a manual for the navigation system and so I am left trying to work it out by myself. For the most part this is okay, it is by no means intuitive but I can get by. However, I am really puzzled about whether or not I should be able to set the sat nav using voice control. I appreciate Lexus have locked the screen whilst driving and so I niavely assumed I would be able to use the voice commands to set a destination whilst in motion. This does not seem to be the case. Whenever I use the command "set destination" it adds the position I am at as the destination - bloody useful, eh? Furthermore, when I use the command "address" it indicates that this command is only available in the "scolled map" screen. Without a manual I have no idea what a scolled map is or how to access it, anyone know? I have watched You-Tube videos about sat nav programming by voice control but this was on a US model. Is sat nav voice control therefore not available: in the UK, on my IS model or do I just need updated discs? I inherently like(d) this vehicle but my first few days of Lexus ownership have caused nothing but frustration, mainly due to the impossible sat nav! It may be a minor issue but coupled with the absence of manual, a broken key and missing paper work my first experience of Lexus ownership is leaving a little to be desired. As I have the Lexus "peace of mind" guarantee I have half a mind to return the vehicle, although I would then have to exchange it for another Lexus! Any advice would be appreciated. Steve
