did you try mytyres?
they have hankooks in stock but at £300 each i would,nt bother with the amount of snow we get.
remember these will be useless in any other weather and will burn up on a dry road.

All that weight should give you an idea of how it will look when you lower it
its getting there although the body now looks more like an RX under cover :winky:

the Gs has gone into a mates garage today for a cambelt change, new plugs, gearbox and engine oil change for a very reasonable price. mates rates are great arent they? anyway while he,s got it he,s also going to have a look at the suspension to see what kind of job a spring swap will be and quote me on that. fingers crossed :winky:

WOW, awesome car B)

i work in the truck side of ATS so i,ll be asking one of the car fitters to do the job if its a pretty straight forward job. i,ll have no worries getting the geometry sorted after either. i,ll get some springs ordered me thinks :winky:

ive always been a BIG fan of dark wheels. what about anthrasite? B)

Hi
I am thinking of getting 18x8.5 & 18x9.5 staggered alloy wheels. 225/40/18 tyres for the front wheels, but what tyre size for the rear staggared alloys?
Any issues I should be aware of relating to offset? What should the offset figure be?
Thanks in advance.
mine came with 235/40 fronts and 265/35 rears and sit perfect on the rims :winky:

cheers for the comments :winky:
i cant wait to get it lowered but i,m getting silly quotes for fitting springs.
are these bad cars to work on or something??? i mean £350 labour to fit my own springs.
-
are these cars any harder to work on than any other and what sort of job is it to swap springs?
i,m only asking as ive just been quoted £350 by a specialist to fit my own springs.
WHY???
anybody???

last year i ran a 3L omega. 1800kg with RWD, auto, traction and snow mode.
IT WAS TOTALLY USELESS EVERYWHERE. was slightly better with all the nanny buttons OFF though.

ok thanks.
i,ll see whats out there and make a decission after ive had the cambelt and plugs done and see if theres any budget left.

so without spending a fortune on coilovers i can only go 25mm lower?
it looks like my options are lowered springs or just stock sport ones then?
how do people lower sports or dont they bother?

Must admit, I thought 97 on an R plate was the last year for the mk1, but I guess there could be the odd straggler that were registered late as an early 98 R plate??
I have RS*R springs on my mk1 Sport, no complaints with them.
can you tell me how much did they lower your sport by and were they listed as sport springs and do you know how much higher an SE sits as standard than a sport?
cheers.

sorry got the year wrong. just checked the log book and its 03-10-97.
i fancied the sport wheels at first but they seem very rare and expensive even in poor condition. when i priced in a refurb and new tyres these came in far cheaper. i love the look of these anyway. big barges look awesome on deep-dish wheels IMO B)

ive just bought a 97 gs300 SE and its on stilts so which springs do people recommend? (preferbly cheaper ones)
ive seen a few but they only drop 25mm. is this figure for the sport model as i wanted a bigger drop than that?
cheers in advance :winky:

hi from a very happy new lexus owner.
here,s the first pics of my GS300 SE. it was a totally standard car 3 weeks ago but i,m affraid i dont do standard.
its a mint 97 car with 100k miles but it really looks as new and i,m well happy with it. i,m addicted.
up to now ive added some 8.5 and 9.5x18 wheels, smoked gen6 celica side repeaters and de-tangoed the front indicators.
next on the list is a set of lowering springs. does anyone recommend any???

cheers guys :winky: just had another quote from prestige services in wakefield. £380 which is only £35 less than lexus. not sure its worth risking for that much. has anyone used these for anything?
-
cheers mike :winky:
i had a 2.5 CDX manual estate before and recently a facelift 3.0 elite auto estate.
both good cars but this thing blinds them in all areas IMHO.

hi all, ive just bought my first lexus 3 weeks ago, a 97 GS300 SE and i,m well happy with it. i,m a real petrol-head as this is my 24th car in 16years of driving. ive always been addicted to buying and tastefully modifying cars (other peoples comments, not mine) mostly fancying the 90,s vauxhalls and alfa romeos with a few fiats and a volvo T5 thrown in but ive just replaced a 94 JDM celica and primera GT with this beast. as i,m now getting old(er) 34 on teusday, lately i,m really into big luxury barges having previously owned a couple of omegas but this is totally in another class. i,m into anything motorsport related and have also prepared and track-dayed more cars than i can remember and ive already started on this with some deep dish 18s, smoked side repeaters and de-tangoed indicators.
thats all about me but i have a couple of Qs.
where is the best place on here to start a project gallery thread as i like taking loads of pics of my car and updates?
and does anyone recommend a specialist in the south yorkshire area? i need the cambelt and plugs doing asap. been quoted £415 by lexus sheffield and £420 by toyota rotherham. seems reasonable but being a tight northerner, every bit helps. i need to buy a new flat cap and have whippet to feed.
all comments and feedback welcome, cheers...
