  1. Geoffers, Firstly it's a 2005 GS300 not 1995 (I'm a plonker). The sensor connected and is damaged - scraped and remains on if reverse is selected. If you push it in it stops bleeping but the moment you release it it beeps. The guy who is repairing the bumper thinks only possibilty is to buy the lexus part (£145) as these are factory fitted I did wonder if it could be left disconnected but cant find out until bumper is off which doesnt leave enough time to get part and I dont suppose lexus would reimburse me if we didnt use the part. hope this now make some sense
  2. Firstly aplogies to Rick I meant 2005 GS300 not 1995 - I plea mitigating circumstances due to extreme marital stress. Steve - My wife has had a bad car week after inexplicably reversing into a wall with fully functioning sensors and rear camera, she managed to close the garage door as she was reversing her merc out of the garage scraping the roof and today flew to scotland with the intention of hiring a car to meet clients when she arrived she realised she had my driving licence not hers!
  3. Geoffers, Yes that may be worth a try for £20 but I'd want it to work with the park assist on screen so wonder if it will.
  4. Hi Rick, No It's definitely a 1995 GS300 with Xenon headlights as new.
  5. Just had quote from Lexus for 1 nearside rear sensor --145!!! I wonder would a Toyota one be the same?
  6. My wife has just kindly reversed my 1995 GS300 into a wall damaging the rear nearside parking sensor such that whenever reverse is engaged it activates and beeps which is a tad anoying. I can get the damage to the bumper repaired but need to procure a replacement sensor. I gather it needs to be a genuine lexus (or Toyota?) spare. There seem to be lots of companies offering rear sensors for lexus but those I've seen are not genuine lexus spares so will not provide exact replacement integrating into the parking control system. I havnt tried lexus yet but the last time I needed a xenon bulb they quoted about £500 and I got an exact repacement for £40! So I'm trying every avenue 1st. Any suggestions or help even sympathy gratefully accepted.
  7. I have a 2005 registered GS300 and yesterday whilst driving in normal road conditions the screen came up with "CHECK VSC" and the slip indicator light and engine warning is lit. I rang Lexus and they want £80 to run the checks. I've had a look on the web and there seems to be a number of possibilities. I fear that Lexus will use this as an excuse to give me a large bill if I take it into them.(I've already had an experience whereby they want to charge me £600/bulb for Xenon which I sourced quite easily for £35) The manual seems to indicate that the problem is not serious implying that traction control will be switched off and assisted hill start which hardly sound life threatening. I wonder if it would really fail an MOT? I certainly dont want to pay out £3000 as someone has suggested to remove this problem. Anyone have any suggestions?
  8. Ordered a pair of DS4 bulbs 6000K from HIDS4U.co.uk yesterday, they were delivered and fitted this morning and are brilliant at a total cost of £70 plus £10 for fitting. As it happens one of the old bulbs had blown but the other is OK. I wonder if Lexus would offer me the £600 they quoted for 1 new bulb for my spare! It shows an astonishingly high profit margin and has made me reconsider using Lexus again I'm affraid.
  9. Thanks but I've just ordered a pair of new bulbs @ £70 pair from www.hids4u.co.uk (08448842600) and if they fix the problem I will have saved a fortune over the lexus quoted price. They will take them back if for any reason they do not work.
  10. I have a 2005 LEXUS GS300 and about 18 months ago i one of my ZENON headlamps started to drop out during a journey. If I switched them off/on they came back on but would drop out later. I went to Lexus stoke and they wanted £600 for a new bulb which I thought outragous. The bulb is now failing all the time so I am faced with having to do something about it. Looking at the web this seems to be a known problem. I dont want to fork out £699 if there is a better/cheaper solution. Any help gratefully recieved.
  11. Have you still got the link you used to buy your bulbs? I clicked on your link and it was no longer listed. Thanks John
  12. I have a 2005 GS300 and it's now displaying same symptoms i.e. head lights when dipped intermittantly go out. Lexus want £518 to replace both headlamps so I'm looking for an alternative source (my local garage will fit them for a fraction of the lexus cost) Is there a website in english I could use? Are you still happy to recommend above? John
