  1. Hi all, I've just got a new phone (an HTC One S) to replace my HTC Desire. The One S paired OK with my 2007 RX400H, but people I phone complain that my voice quality is very poor, although I can hear their sound just fine. This didn't happen with the old phone, so I suspect some sort of Bluetooth incompatibility. I found my way into the Handsfree Phone setup menu (hold the info button and turn the lights on and off twice), and have had a tinker with the settings in there, but nothing seems to make much difference. Perhaps the RX400H needs a software update? In the Bluetooth menu, it says it has: General version 1.01b API version 1.01b Upper Stack version 02.0508 Lower Stack version 2.03.02 TIA
  2. I've had my RX400H (an '07 SEL) for 14 months now. At first it felt very odd to drive, compared with my previous car, a Mercedes Coupe, but once I'd got used to sitting up very high and remembering to look down to see other cars instead of up, it was fine. I now really like it. In fact, when it was serviced the dealer loaned me an IS300, and it felt small, cramped and even a bit slow(!) by comparison. My RX has been absolutely no trouble at all, and over the year it's averaged 30.5mpg. It definitely does better in 'moderate congestion' - e.g. 25mph trundles round the M25 will often produce 40+mpg, but 75-80 mph motorway stuff produces 28-30mpg. Overall I'm very glad I bought it!
  3. I think some US-spec cars have the rear DVD player connected to the external CD Changer i/p of the ML stereo. So pressing DVD twice on the ML input selector toggles to the rear DVD player. In my car, I've got an iPod adapter fitted to this input, but in addition to the iPod connector it's also possible to connect a second audio device via a 3.5mm jack lead. In my car this lives in the glove box, but I suppose it could be routed somehow (under the carpet?) back to the DVD player instead. So I think it's possible if you want to spend some money on it!
  4. It's a dealer-settable feature. There's a menu that only dealers can get to (or I don't know how to!) which can set squillions of things around the car. When you buy one new they ask you how you'd like them all set and then 'personalise' the car for you. You can choose between 30,60 or 90 secs delay. So go and smile sweetly at your local Lexus service agent and ask him to adjust it for you.
  5. Hi, I've been an ordinary member of the LOC for about year now, since i bought my RX400H. I've now also taken out Gold membership, having discovered that I can get discount on servicing via the club. However, I can't log in to these forums using my Gold membership ID, and I can't access the Gold members forums using my ordinary ID. How is this supposed to work
  6. As a matter of interest, who did you use? I've got a s/h RX400H, and although I won't need a service for a while, MK Lexus would have been the logical choice for me until I read this!
  7. AFAIK the 'official' Lexus dvd screens are always properly integrated into the rear of the headrests, I've not seen anything else. The DVD player for them is under the driver's seat - not very accessible when on the move! The front DVD player only plays on the front screen, and then only when the car's stationary, rendering it basically useless. There are 'mod kits' available from Japan/USA to fix this if you're inclined, and it is possible to feed the output of the front player to the Aux in of the rear player - US spec RX's are supplied this way as standard, I think. As for what £18k buys, it seems to me that the price of RX's is quite mileage sensitive, so if you want a low-miler it'll probably have to be an '06 reg I suspect.
  8. My system didn't work too well when I first bought the car, but then I realised that the LEDs had got pushed in to the door pillar somehow. A bit of fiddling with a screwdriver to pull the trim back allowed me to get behind them and push them back out. All now works well.
  9. Oh well... In that case, next year's disc will have to be the real thing.
  10. Ah, very clever of them! So if I load the 2010 firmware from a proper disk and then pop my bootleg back in, all will be well?
  11. No, it didnt. I don't know if there's anything I should do to load the software from the disc, or if it simply doesn't have the right software on it. It's just nice to have up to date mapping! Anyone know if there's an update procedure I should do?
  12. I bought an 'E13' satnav update disc for my rx400h from www.sat-navi.com for £39.99. It was obviously a copy, (surely illegal?) but it works ok.
  13. Hi all, I've had my RX400H for 3 months now, and I've decided I've got to do something about the crazy motion lockout of the phone, audio and nav systems. It's an 07 RX400H with the Mark Levinson audio package, and I've added a Grom ipod adapter. Looking around, I've come across this: http://www.beatsonicusa.com/nav-dvd-bypass/toyota-lexus/beat-sonic-tvk-37-dvd-control-bypass-module.html Which I think may enable the audio system and phone - I'm not sure. Has anyone here tried this in a UK-spec RX400H? If so, would it still work with the Grom ipod adapter installed? They also make a nav bypass, but I've ordered a new nav dvd that I gather makes this unnecessary. TIA
  14. Hi, I've had my rx400h for 2 months now and I've averaged 28.6 so far, doing a mix of all sorts of driving. It's definitely showing signs of improving now that the weather's warming up a bit, and I reckon it'll gradually head towards 30+ in the next couple of months. I'd be very surprised to get to 36 though!
