  1. second tankfull today. 387 miles but must admit i drive like a purple rinser going to bingo.!!!!! my second month with the lexus, and although i'm saving on petrol the rest of the car is costing me a fortune. to try and solve the front nearside 'knock' i've paid for a new lower ball joint and a new link arm. whilst the wheel was off the mechanic noticed splits and tears on the inside of the nearly new tyre.... so on with 2 new fronts. drive away £400 lighter and has the 'knock' gone.? has it F@@K so along with the recent cambelt and service i am now £800 out of pocket and my love affair with the lexus is waning fast.........
  2. you lot must drive in lead boots lol. i must admit i haven't given her any welly at all, tried the power button just the once for 200metres,
  3. well just done me first tank in the is200 95% town driving, and pottering about 350 ish miles, which is a lot better than my last car a golf v5..... but is that good/bad/indifferent for the lexie.?
  4. Gareth i had a similar prob when i bought my is200 a few weeks ago the owner only had one key, which was stucktogether with superglue........ bought a good quality blank key £15 from fleabay went to a local key cutter, told him i wanted the blade cut to match my cruddy original.they ask where you got it from,as they do a better quality one! for (in my case £45.no thank you), tell them you got it from lexus! he then cut it for £15,going on and on about it may not work, theirs is better blah blah...... then carefully open and remove case get at transponder,(i had to very careful as the superglue had worked its way into the case as well... then just swap it over to your new case, and bobs your auntie £30 is a lot better than, sit down while i tell you the price from mr lexus!!!!!! regards johnboy
  5. Hi, you will have to have the key/blade cut using your current key and then programme it using the directions/instructions on here or i could forward it to you as i have also got them. hello that would be great scudney thanks i don't know how to remove the old blade as they are sealed so i'll have to buy an empty blank and swap the transponder to that i suppose?
  6. hello again bought a key today via fleabay as my is200 only came with one i know i cannot use the blade, or change it as it looks to be sealed, but i'd like obviously to re code it to my car, i have found the page with directions on doing this, but is it the same process for all cars? or different for earlier models such as mine? regards johnboy
  7. no i think the screw holds the whole key together?
  8. hello all another key question that may well be covered here, but i couldn't find an answer my lexus came with only one key.?(3 button) so i've bought another on flea bay, complete with transponder.(3 button) for the wife. now obviously it won't work, but have seen topics here where you can reprogram the transponder to suit. but how do you change the blade, as i dismantled mine to have a looksee and the blade seems to be a sealed unit? regards johnboy
  9. yes steve, now to get this bloody knock sorted on the front nearside. changed lower ball joint, but its still there.!!!!
  10. just got my car back today cambelt, oil, filter service £285 all up :D i'm a happy bunny...
  11. right took the car to my mates garage he is gonna take a look tomorrow to see what the knocking is? its the frontnearside not the rear as i had first thought. is this a common prob with the is.? i've heard that the front end does suffer on this model. cheers johnboy
  12. hello today bought a year 2000 is200se auto in slate grey?, with 90k miles..... after selling my golf v5 have i done the right thing ooh er.... already found a couple of things the owner 'forgot' to tell me about 1;the catch on the petrol filler has snapped,so it won't lock.. 2;the cigarette lighter assembly is all looose.. 3; a slight knock from nearside rear over bumps? 4; only 1 key, it is the master key though. 5; it feels a bit gutless low down, but saying that i like the looks, and the toys, its history is patchy, but was told that cambelt was replaced at 60k....can i check this? but apart from that, very good nick. regards johnboy
