  1. Hey all, I've got a problem with the trim at the bottom of the drivers door, it seems to have come loose half way along but all the clips look intact. It looks like if I can remove it i'll be able to re attach it but because the clips appear to slide together it doesn't look like I can do it without removing the whole trim piece anyone done this and can tell me how I re-attach it?
  2. So i'm thinking about getting a second lexus for my driveway and still having fond memories of my IS-F i'm looking at the LC. What I was looking for is any details of model changes since release? I know there are some changes to engine performance due to emissions but was their anything more significant - other than colour options?
  3. So.... for various reasons I’m looking for a bike carrier for my RX 450h F-sport anyone got any recommendations on what fits? Ideally boot mounted.
  4. Yeah it's a shame, as someone who did track their IS-F i'm disapointed that the RC-F isn't a bit lighter. I'll reserve judgement till i've been in one though.
  5. Yes basically I found that to get it to turn in well on sharp corners you need to brake way longer than you expect. Certainly true with hairpins. Can't say I tried the method Mr. Harris has been known to use as i'm paying for the tyres :D
  6. So on GT tracks it's great, Bedford's Sen circuit was mighty but you'll struggle more on twisty stuff like Brands where the weight of the car and the short gearing counts against you. This is a little bit of my GoPro footage from a wet day at bedford in the IS-F http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=glhNTnLIy4E Not happy with that...wanted to watch more of it It just makes me want to do a track meet even more now. It's well worth it, I did 4 during the time I had the car. I'd say do them but that you need to pick your tracks, Bedford was great, Rockingham on the international circuit was also good - Brands Hatch on the smaller circuit was fun but not a great circuit for the car as you've not really got the chance to stretch it's legs. Fundamentally the biggest problem i used to have was getting the car turned in, it's heavy and that shows sometimes. But if you're going to do a couple of days a year then you'll be absolutely fine, the brakes and tyres both held up really well. So can't remember which setting the TC was in for that Bedford day but normally I did some runs with it in sport and some with it switched off. Sometimes in sport it was a bit conservative coming out of the corners so you'd struggle a little to get the power down as early as you'd want.

  8. yeah a couple of track days will wear the pads more than just road use
  9. Yup, with only 200 or so around its a small world
  10. Not surprised they aren't budging on price...at that price it will not be around for long. Strange they are selling it off so cheaply when we know there should be no issues with it. I dread to think what PX they gave the owner though. PX price wasn't bad But as with all these things it's the whole package, PX was decent and good discount on my RX - those added together are more than they are retailing the car for so I don't feel hard done by.
  11. Does looks stunning, I wouldn't mind knowing if the TVD only comes with the Carbon pack - Because i'm not that keen on Carbon roofs as I've known a couple of BMW owners who've had trouble with theirs.
  12. 470 would be impressive, looks like the carbon package would be a must if thats the only one with the active diff. Guess we'll still have to wait and see once we get the UK spec confirmed as the last I saw the diff was standard but the carbon roof etc was optional.
  13. I used Admiral for mine, but it was on a multi-car policy with my commuter mobile so that helped with the costs.
  14. Yeah I'm keeping it in the family, I've found myself on a couple of occasions since picking it up complaining how slow the RX is and even the F-Sport version corners like a barge compared with the IS-F, so who knows what the softer setup ones would be like. I will get something else speedy in a while I'm sure, the RC-F is really appealing but until they actually publish the price I'm not going to get too excited - I suspect it's going to be on the high side of £60k which puts it into some serious company. Thats used 911 Turbo \ Audi R8 money....
  15. So the day has finally come, today I'm leaving the IS-F club. After 28 months and almost 40,000 miles of pleasure i'm P/X'ing the IS-F on a new RX450h F-Sport for the misses. The car has been simply brilliant and I'm going to miss it. 3 track days completed and several trips to Le Mans, Spa and the ring. Only costs, tyres, brakes and fuel (25mpg average over the time i've owned it). Warranty covered a slightly leaking water pump but beyond that she's been totally flawless. Since i've been commuting more i've been using my run around (diesel Golf GTD) much more than the IS-F and with the other half needing a new car this seems like a sensible time to take a break from F ownership. But i'll be watching the RC-F with interest and I suspect in a year or so i'll feel the need to have another V8 Lexus on the driveway. Though from what my dealer tells me there are only going to be 175 RC-F coming into the UK in the first year so it could be a bit of a wait..
  16. Cheers all, Yeah believe me I don't want to change it, it's the only car I've ever had when after 35k miles I have no desire to get anything else. But I'm about to start doing 20k mileage a year and even though the ISF does great mileage for a performance V8 it's still going to be a big bill. Might sell it privately spend 8k on a run around and keep the difference for an RCF deposit next year :D
  17. Hi All, Depressingly I might have to change my car - I'm using the word might because depending on how good my man maths gets I maybe able to justify keeping it.... But anyways, has anyone had a PX price for one of these recently? Mines a 2008 with about 60k on the clock - any ideas on what it's worth as a PX? I know retail would be between £18k - £20k but all the online estimators seem to have no clue about the IS-F.
  18. I think it's the standard RC that is available this year with the RC F due in 2015
  19. The RC-F will be here in 2015. Heard rumours about a GS-F also but haven't seen anything further about that. I'll be down at my dealer in 2015 though looking seriously at the RC-F
  20. Must confess to having looked at the A45 - But i'll wait until the RC-F comes along and see what thats like.
  21. So for any interested parties out there - I can confirm the standard IS-F brake setup is fine for track work. No issues all day at MSV Bedford SEN circuit.
  22. Yeah this is the same as BMW - the speedy versions get released typically 2 years after the standard models. I've had my dealer offering me the new coupe with the V8 already so I can't see why they wouldn't have the IS-F available. It's a halo car they make their money on the IS250 and IS300h the IS-F is as much about marketing as anything else.
  23. Yes it's still a polyglycol fluid but it has a much higher boiling point than DOT4 fluids so it makes it less likely that you'll boil your brake fluid on track.
  24. Well I spoke with Lexus today and the IS-F gets DOT5.1 fluid when it's serviced anyway so an upgrade is kinda pointless. Good result.
