  1. The very reason I didn't renew my membership which was due this week. It is also interesting that not a single member of staff or moderator has bothered to at least have the good grace to acknowledge this thread exists. Mike Colin Barber is a moderator is he not? Even though he has answered, I don't think that he is, (I know I wasn't), privy to the costs of running the site/where membership money goes. As for the reference to "subtle pressure" from the moderators to go Gold, the mods follow site rules, which state "only GOLD members are allowed to sell on the forums" This was made clear on joining the club (If you bothered to read the rules). If you are not aware, the Moderators are not staff and do not receive any payment for their time. I personally agree to having to be Gold before selling. I have been the victim of, and have seen what can happen when anyone can join a car forum and sell for free. They can sign up and sell items they don't have only to disappear after receiving peoples money.......... Would you like that on here??????? I myself have advertised some items on here at reasonable prices for members, sometimes at a lower price than I could have got for them on e-bay because sharing with like-minded people is what the site is about.. The biggest thing gold membership gives you is being able to buy with peace of mind. Ian (ex-mod)
  2. Thanks to everyone for their kind messages, we will miss you all. Heather and Ian. if anyone needs to contact me my email is ianbradley2@gmail.com I will only be checking emails at the end of the day so bear with me. Adios for now compadres.
  3. Due to personal reasons as from this weekend i will no longer be active on the site. :( I have enjoyed the last few years on here and most recently as a moderator, I would like to thank everyone who made my stay an enjoyable one. :D I have met some good friends on here and the wife and i will miss you all. Sorry about the upcoming meets, would someone else like to take over??? Finally my Lexus gs300 is for sale in the classifieds if anyone needs a cheap runaround. I wish you all well for the future and drive safely people. Ian.
  4. Dimensions matter as far as fitting in the battery tray, look for one which has the same or higher CCA and mah. Any reputable battery retailer will point you in the right direction.
  5. Im going to leave this as it's not a company/individual advertising their own services/parts. It's more of a review of Lexus southampton's customer service.
  6. Most battery places have both types of battery, halfrauds definitely do. Pity you live so far away, i have a brand new lexus fitment battery in shed.
  7. Yes the coils can be swapped between cylinders, Regarding Steve's answer he is only trying to help/save you money and giving you the benefit of his knowledge...Coming across with a slight attitude will not even get a response off a lot of members.
  8. Here's one could be had for £1700 with a bit of spanner work with him. If only i had the cash... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TTE-Supercharger-Kit-for-Lexus-IS200-RARE-/251533056861?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item3a9089db5d
  9. Just found this on supra forum...note the part about gearbox..not the car. It's not as easy as just dropping an engine in. While the engines are a straight fit into the bay, the v160 won't clear the transmission tunnel (so I'm told) and the stock is200 gearbox is very weak. Potentially a great little sleeper, though I suspect a 1jz+r154 swap would be more cost effective
  10. I have a fully working second hand caliper you can have for £20 plus post.
  11. The is300 manual was only available overseas (USA) iirc.
  12. Welcome to the club Les. Looks very nice in white. Always had a soft spot for white cars.
  13. Might be ok then, but if you find you need a new battery, i have a 3wk old one with receipt from halfords if you are interested. Cost £110, £80 couriered.
  14. £300 for engine/mounts/ecu. But your mechanic or whoever would have to remove it from car. The is300/gs300 ehgine swap would be a lot more straight forward than the gs430 v8.
  15. I also happen to have an engine out of a gs300 which is exactly the same as the is300. If your serious about an engine swap the mounts ect would be free with the engine.
  16. If the is300 injectors fit i have a set of 6 going cheap.
  17. Works on anything, ebay is the cheapest. What does it bond to?Virtually any combination of iron, steel, copper, aluminum, brass, bronze, pewter, porcelain, ceramic, marble, glass, PVC & ABS, concrete, fiberglass, wood, fabric, paper -- just about any porous and non-porous material.. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/JB-WELD-WORLDS-FINEST-COLD-WELD-2-X-28-4G-NON-CARDED-/250843141987?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item3a676a9763
  18. Liquid metal is what i use, (jb weld). Put a good glob where repair is needed, once dry drill hole and your away. Or put a well greased straw ect where hole needs to be and jb weld round it, once dry remove straw.
  19. They are rare to find now Dave, discontinued at lexus, There happens to be one on fleabay at the minute though. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Lexus-GS300-Sport-Wheel-centre-Hub-cap-OZ-M624-PZ405-SO671-01-/131184841953?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item1e8b39d4e1
  20. After reading my own post i have amended it as it didn,t sound how i meant it. Some comments can be misunderstood and arguments ensue, This seems to be the case with this thread. On this occasion i apologize to both members involved if my original post offended. Now can we get back to the spirit of the club and just enjoy the forums.
