I bought a replacement on eBay for £15, but it would not fit properly, the top locating lugs were too large. Also the existing mirror has four wires, two are for the heating element and plug into two terminals on the back of the glass, the other pair are in a plug-in connector and these did not exist on the replacement - no idea what they are for. Now looking for a genuine replacement

One of the catches for the auxilliary storage box in the rear boot compartment has ceased to function. However, I cannot find how to remove the covers to get access to it. Anyone had a similar problem and found out how to get inside?

The glass on the drivers side wing mirror has started to 'fade' - it looks like a film is peeling off. I'm trying to find out how to remove the glass as I can see a replacement is available but it states it clips on. Before buying one I'd like to know how to fit it. I can't find a manual thatshows this - anyone know how to do it? Thanks

I downloaded the DVD from an ebay site many years ago

Anyone know of a later DVD for the sat nav other than the 2016 version, I love the RX400h (on my second) but the satnav is getting a little dated in its content and lack of updates.

It was but no choice, switch wouldn't work

The rubber cover on the switch for the tailgate had totally melted and turned into tar, no idea why as this happened in the UK before leaving for France plus I owned one in California. I managed to find a replacement on Amazon for about €20, much cheaper than a new switch assembly for which I was quoted £55 plus shipping. Getting the old switch off was a PITA, one screw would not turn and the angle for the screwdriver is impossible for any sort of power tool. I had to resort to removing all the interior trim from the tailgate, then removed the chrome bar which has the switch in it. Then I had to drill out the bad screw and start cleaning all the mess - took ages of soaking in petrol and stiff brushing after totally dismantling the switch. Eventually all was reassembled and remounted after about three hours of work. So, if yours has done the same thing, save yourself a ton of aggro and buy the new switch!

GOOD NEWS! Rx400h passed its CT on the original UK headlights, no problems. The flat top beams are acceptable. I used the AUTOSUR station in Chabanais, the guy doesn't speak English but that was not an issue, he was very thorough and very helpful.

Application for Carte Gris is underway, using the MoT instead of CT which is allowed if the MoT has more than six months to run. The FaceBook group has modelling software than can calculate the fees

I finally go the Quitis Fiscal this morning, it took 5 mins but this was after a long drawn out process following an unscheduled visit to the tax office. Lesson 1, research your local tax office and go loaded with multiple copies of your documents.

Interesting - I got the part numbers for both RHD and LHD cars and they are the same 81135 (right side) 81175 (left side) - anyone got any other data on these numbers?

Never got any sense out of Lexus - France UK or USA. They will always quote for new parts and won't give any help whatsoever - they have an attitude that says "we know best" - just try using the sat nav with UK postal codes. I've also spent some time looking for 2nd hand lights but to no avail, let's hope it'll pass with the flat top beams.

What ever price for an Rx you find in the UK, double it for France - then subtract the costs of registration (possible headlights) and it starts to look a bit better. As you have French cars already logistically this won't be too hard; for me with one car only it was looking like a challenge so I decided to bring my Rx. I've now sent off the QF docs and waiting for the appointment

Well that does beg the question of why not just buy a French Rx, apart from the price that is. I now have the complete process for the Quitis Fiscal in Angouleme which I'll be doing today. It involves sending them copies of documents by email, post or in person and then them giving you a date/time for an appointment. At the appointment you should get your QF. Note this HAS to be done in the tax office where you live, hence the problem with Angouleme as they are (so far) the only ones doing it this way. Watch this space Quitis_Docs.pdf

Good, that's the guy not too far away. Rx headlights are upwards of £600 each!!!! so pray for flat top beams getting past the CT.BTW, I am reliably informed that instead of a CT you can use a UK MoT if it under 6 months old - going to test this theory soon
