  1. Raj, The trouble is that my vehicle is almost 2 hours away from Richard of hybrid battery solutions. I’m contemplating the cost to take the vehicle there and then also the problem won’t be solved as my vehicle has a leakage somewhere so the whole of the hybrid battery is corroded. Not sure if replacing cells would work on this one or not. Lexus have said that they’ll investigate and fix the leakage for me so that this problem doesn’t arise in the future. My question to them was that the vehicle has been coming to them twice a year for MOT and service but they didn’t know in the last couple of years that a leakage is corroding the battery. I’m surprised at the dealership. I need to have a final chat with them before I decide the further course of action.
  2. Hey Raj, Thanks for your replies. I have been quoted circa £4800 for replacing the hybrid battery, relay and sensor. And Lexus are saying they still need to find the leakage point otherwise this all will be of no avail. Since my vehicle is less than 10 years old and Lexus provide a 10 yr warranty on the hybrid battery my first question was why can’t this be replaced under warranty. To which the Service Manager replied that to maintain the validity of the warranty, the hybrid battery needs to be checked every 12 months. Mine was checked last in Jan 20 so was due for a check in Jan this year, but I couldn’t get it done due to the lockdown with the dealerships closed. Now they’re saying that the warranty cannot be honoured as I missed getting the test done in Jan. I’ll be debating that and need to have a word with the dealership again. I’m not sure what’ll be the outcome. But the thing is that if I don’t get the hybrid battery replaced, the vehicle won’t start and is of no use. Keeping my fingers crossed.
  3. Thank you to all for your valuable inputs. It’s much appreciated.
  4. Hi All, My 2011 Rx450h sat on my driveway for a couple of months and wouldn’t start. So called the RAC, they tried their level best, but couldn’t help. The error displayed was ‘check hybrid system’. Took the vehicle to my local Lexus dealership and the diagnosis began. First it was a relay in the hybrid battery which was faulty, replaced it, still no joy. The next error code was for a battery sensor, again replaced, still the vehicle wouldn’t budge. Now, the final diagnosis is that the hybrid battery needs to be replaced as it has been damaged due to water ingress potentially from a leak of the rubber seals and grommets on the bumper. Have been quoted circa £2700 for the hybrid battery without labour on top of the 1000 quid for the relay and the sensor. Does anyone have any similar experience on their vehicle of a similar model or year. I’m just contemplating, is it worth spending close to 4/5 grand on a vehicle which is 10 years old. But, if I don’t, no one would buy it as it’s dead meat. Any suggestions/comments are very welcome and appreciated. Cheers.
  5. Thank you for the reply. And where do I find a breaker in Surrey/Hampshire etc.? Any ideas?
  6. Hi The roof moulding which sits in the recessed portion of the roof below the feet of the roof rails has gone missing from the left side of my car. Went to Lexus Guildford and was quoted £ 96 inclusive of VAT for a 2 inch by 4/5 feet of piece of rubber!! Though the nice service guy suggested to get it from one of the salvage companies or Lexus breakers. So far no luck with eBay or the internet. Any genuine pointers please? Cheers.
  7. Is there a device available to stream bluetooth music if the car already has bluetooth installed but works only for calls.
  8. Hi DanD, The dealership has actually checked the mirror and found it to be faulty. I guess the heating element on the back of the glass has blown up even thought the wiring at the back of the glass assembly is fine.
  9. Hi, The side view mirror on my vehicle on the driver (RH) side does not get heated and evaporate the moisture anymore. Called my local Lexus main dealer and was quoted a price of £321.92 for parts and labour and £282.32 without fitting. Didn't think this would be so dear. Tried calling eurocarparts and carparts4less but unfortunately they don't store them and have pointed me back to the main dealer. The ones selling on ebay are not auto dimming, though they are heated. I do need the OEM replacement. Spoke to an ebay seller and was advised that to fix these is relatively easy - just firmly grip and pull out and put the new one and push to engage the clip. Has anyone been on this path before. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
  10. Hi Folks, I have a 2006 400h with inbuilt blue tooth connectivity to pair my phone for making/receiving calls while on the go. Can this be used to play songs on my mobile (android) through the speakers? If yes, please advise how. Any assistance would be appreciated.
  11. The bottle of champagne and £40 worth of fuel is a replacement for the Inverter Recall on any Lexus RX. I guess every dealer is doing this irrespectve of the service they offer (Got mine done from Lexus Hedge End and was offered the same). Just wanted everyone to be aware that this is a Lexus policy and not a dealer freebie as it seems to be. Lexus's way of saying thanks to bear with them while they solve yet another recall issue. Cheers
  12. Hi there, I've got a 2006 400H SEL with the same problem. I have sent my vehicle thrice to Lexus HedgeEnd (closest to me) without any joy. It is going back again in a couple of days. I was told by the Service Manager that they cannot hear anything in spite of me taking the technician on a road test. Let's see what can they do this time to fix it. Will keep you posted.
  13. Go for the second one. I call Lee (First link) and he said he doesn't do Lexus update disc. So no other option then , I guess. Cheers
