  1. Mine never did that, I did lose effectiveness, but that ended up being a pressure problem on the whole cooling system, which was easily fixed. I think they're telling porkie pies.
  2. Thanks all, car came for DC Automobiles in Banstead. Looks like my old car was OK for them to re-list :) http://www.dcautomobiles.com/lexus-sc-430-in-surrey-6150517
  3. So I've joined the ISF club, sold my SC, so been on the forums for a few years. Anything I need to look out for, this is a 2008 with full Lexus service history, seems to have eaten brakes.discs/tyres, but that's about it? I was warned about water pump issues, but my local Lexus dealer, that I've used for 6 year +, says they have never fitted one to a F.
  4. I'm looking to ditch my 2002 SC 430 and get a 2008/9 ISF, anything in particular I should be looking for?
  5. This guy seems to have one : - http://www.ebay.co.uk/usr/supercarparts1?_trksid=p2047675.l2559
  6. Neil, I haven't read back through all the posts, but i would certainly suggest a new battery, Mine started perfectly and I had a few odd things playing up. A new battery fixed everything. Even if you've had one recently, it could be a little under par :)
  7. I leave my lights permanently in AUTO, and have never had the problem described here. My car is regularly not used for 2 weeks + and then only for short jourrneys...I guess they are all slightly different :)
  8. Interesting, the manual doesn't actually say you shouldn't, although it does say you should stop in a safe place. Personally I'd never risk it, if damaged the cost would be prohibitive!
  9. Sorry, I'm down south :( , most examples I've seen have been very well treated, with most used as second/third cars. Good Luck...Paul
  10. I take my SC to France every year. Roof down you are very limited with space in the boot, and I bought some of the specialised luggage in the link below. Realistically long motorway drives you will have the roof up if you want to make some pace, so plan accordingly. As to Bluetooth, I added a Dension kit, see other link below. It's brilliant, limited only by the SC Mark Levison kit. It's also my daily driver, and I get most stuff into it somehow! Agree with everything else above. Check any car you look at is on proper tyres and not the original run flats, they are very noisy. Later models have better gearbox and suspension, but are quite rare. Mine is an early model with later model wheels, which seems to work OK. Servicing is normal Lexus prices, but not much ever goes wrong (touchjing more wood :) ). As above make sure the 100k/10 year timing belt change has been done if you go for that age. Budget for around £500 if you need to do it. I did see the one rusty one mentioned, but it's the only one I've ever heard of and I think it lived near the coast all its life. http://www.clublexus.com/forums/sc-430/42378-custom-fitted-luggage-for-sc430-2.html http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/topic/74681-ipodiphone-link-by-vaistech-soundlinq2-sl2i-up/
  11. Pump price seems OK, for MP3 I've used Dension for about 4 years, see here for full detail:- http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/topic/74681-ipodiphone-link-by-vaistech-soundlinq2-sl2i-up/
  12. Sounds like you need to call Lexus head office, I wouldn't stand for that. My recall caused the ashtray to jam, so they took it back in and resolved it all free of charge. Complain like hell, preferably in front of other customers.
  13. Thank Mike ordered one off the bay, also a solenoid repair kit....will tell you how I get on but won't be quick!
  14. Thanks Pete, ordered a kit today, although the guy wasn't sure it covered the SC, said it was for a 300 but should be OK. Any advice on getting the starter motor out, looks like a bit of work, reading the posts above?
  15. And today it did it again....back to the drawing board....relay first then....anyone know the part no, and best place to get it from?
  16. Went into Motorline Tunbridge Well for MOT (success), they couldn't find a fault and it's been fine since....must be the warm weather!
  17. Service and cam belt cost is normal Lexus main dealer price. Battery is ridiculous, I bought one online from the Battery Guys, make sure you measure height properly as their best one was too tall when I got mine. Should be £60-70. Wheel refurb sound expensive too, shop around for those.
  18. Since it goes up with the roof, that proves the motor works. So I'd start with the door switch. Should be able to test by switching the cables with the passenger window if you can get the door card off.
  19. OK I'll have a go, any recommendation on where to get the parts from?
  20. Battery is fairly new, and terminals are good and tight. Thanks for the help, I'll let the garage further diagnose.
  21. Yep confirm the above, 100k or ten years, and around £500 all done.
  22. Thanks, it's in for its MOT soon, so we'll get it fixed! A relay is better than a new starter.
  23. Engine bay, front right as you sit in the car (O/S/F to us oldies). Battery is fairly new, so I'm thinking starter motor, which I'm sure will be expensive :(
  24. Sadly this did not fix my problem (I replaced the battery in the master key), but I do appreciate the thought. This problem also occurs with all keys. Any more ideas anybody?
  25. My SC has started just clicking when the key is turned. Eventually it will start, after a few goes, If this was an older car, I would suspect the starter motor. Any ideas anyone?
