I've been towing a 1.5 tonne caravan with an LS430 for two years now and it's the best tow car I've ever had, far better than any 4x4. (But I've not tried an RX.)I've fitted a gearbox oil cooler, and I would recommend you fit one, if you are going to tow anything over a tonne on a regular basis.

Can I ask which towbar you've had filtted please and a rouge idea on cost?? Also how much is the oil cooler for the auto box?
