  1. In my old IS my bag and four bottles of beer on the passenger seat were enough to set off the annoying 'fasten seat-belt bongs'. Fortunately the GS is not quite so senistive!
  2. Have been a member of the LOC for quite a while now and it's got me thinking. How many members actually work for Lexus? You know who you are! If not then why not? If I were a company like Lexus I'd like to know what the proletariat are saying about me!
  3. If it's under warranty I'd definitely get it sorted if it's not performing as per the manual.
  4. Does anyone on here own this LS 430? Am watching an old episode of Lewis and it drove past!
  5. That's interesting. Mine is on but not really sure what it does. Will try again tomorrow with it off to see if it makes a difference. I really would expect all Lexus to operate in the same manner. Try that Chris, I'd be interested to know if it helps you.
  6. Yes, it's useful. How I've set mine up is rev counter in the main display as I found the eco display distracting as I found myself spending too much time looking at it to keep it in the eco range. I also think the rev counter looks better. I have the HUD set to show speed most of the time and change it to eco displaying when I feel like driving economically. I think huds should be fitted to all cars as a safety device. I rarely take my eyes off the road now. It even shows sat sat directions. The fact that you can switch between mph and kmph is also really useful as I drive in Europe quite a bit.
  7. I guess these are aimed at owners who have a driver and sit in the back. I've got them in my GS which seems a bit daft as if you can afford a driver I guess you can afford an LS! Had my GS 9 months now and the only time they've been used is when the missus sat in the back for a short journey and played with them. She only did it cause it was there and annoyed the hell out of me. Was listening to music on random play and if something came on that she didn't like she forwarded to the next track, despite my thoughts!
  8. I don't think the top of the range Dacia comes with my 'need'. I don't know how I could live without the rear blinds or ICE controls in the rear armrest! The problem I find with 'extras' is that once you have them you feel you'd be lost without them. It seems great to have all these things that you can adjust and play with but generally after you've set them to how you like they don't get touched again.
  9. Yes, I agree. If no passenger in in the seat the temp indicator never comes on. I assumed that all Lexuses fitted with this system would operate the same!
  10. Interesting thought though about 'options' and our perceived need for them. I'm not sure we need many of the standard fittings to cars these days. Forget things like sat nav, interweb access or buttons on the steering wheel. Not sure we actually need electric windows! Right, I'm off to the Dacia owners club!
  11. Sorry was assuming they would all work in a similar way. And mine's not even an RX!
  12. "We started off 4k apart. 4 hours later and one tired salesman and we shook hands" That's a grand an hour. I wouldn't mind that myself!
  13. I’ve just checked mine and no matter what I do the temp indicator on the passenger side stays off. The display also shows the back off but I can feel air coming through the vents! It doesn’t seem to make any difference if it’s on Auto or not. Also, opened the back door and it stayed off. Maybe mine’s got a fault! See attached pics.
  14. Haven't tried this. Will need to check. On mine as soon as I press the button the temp indicator on the passenger's side goes out if no one is sitting in the passenger seat regardless of outside and inside temps. In the rear nothing seems to change as I can stilll feeel air comniung out of the vents between the front seat. I think the whole thing is a bit of a gimmick to be honest!
  15. I once had a Volvo I wanted to sell but had no idea what I wanted to replace it with. As I turned up on the dealer forecourt two salesmen ran across to try and engage me in conversation (obviously both looking at their targets!). The one that got to me first asked me what I was looking for. Told him I wasn't sure. He then asked me how much I had to spend. Told him it depends on what he gives me for the Volvo. He asked me what I wanted so I asked him what he was prepared to give me. He told me it depends what I was after. Told him that depends on what he'll offer me for the Volvo. That way I'd know how much I had to spend. He refused to give me a figure until I'd shown interest in one of his vehicles. This game of cat and mouse went on for quite a while until I relented and said I wanted 20 grand for my Volvo (worth about 4000 at the time). He laughed, I told him impolitely where to go and have never been to that dealer since!
  16. However, no one is forcing anyone to pay over the odds and no one is forcing anyone to accept under the odds. Of course it's all a game. The seller wants as much as possible for their car as does the dealer. Part exchanging is sometimes worth the loss to save the hassle of selling privately. The price we get for ours and the price we pay for theirs is not really relevant. It's the difference that matters.
  17. On my GS you can change it via the DISP button on the steering wheel. Scroll though to the settings menu and you might find that you can select rev counter all the time, eco display all the time or auto which changes from eco display to rev counter when in sport or sport +. I have mine set to rev counter all the time as I find the eco display too distracting. And welcome to Lexus!
  18. Thanks Rayaan, will give that a go. interesting about SRP. Thought I'd got rid of all the light scratches in the door handle bits only for them to return!
  19. Hi, Have noticed that the shiny plastic on my B pillars have lots of fine swirl marks on them. What is the best product to remove them? Could the polish I use for my paintwork be ok? I currently use Autoglym Super Resin. Thanks.
