  1. Had a service done today and have just received a video. They mention a slight damp patch on the AC condenser. I have a couple of questions before I ask Lexus their thoughts. I’m assuming that there is a leak somewhere. Is it something I should worry about? Is it a wear and tear issue or something that should be covered by the warranty? IMG_4048.MOV
  2. Thanks. Interesting reviews. Am struggling to find the price though! Is there any specific tyre shops that do them? Have always had my tyres changed at Lexus as I know they know what to do with regards to the tpms.
  3. Hi all, am looking for any recommendations for tyres for my fourth gen GS300H. I have always bought Dunlop Sport Maxx but feel like a change. I’ve heard good things about Michelin Cross Climates. Lexus can supply and fit Cross Climates for £185 per wheel and Sport Maxx for £135. I obviously prefer the price of the latter! Can any current or ex GS300H owners recommend anything else? I’ve 18inch wheels and prefer comfort and quietness over handling prowess. However, safety and longevity are also important factors. I currently do about 7,000 miles per annum. Thanks.
  4. I’ve got an intermediate service planned on 2nd November. I will be waiting at the dealer. No wash. Will let you know how long they take.
  5. Just polished and waxed mine. Have a service on 2nd November. No way am I letting anyone near it with a bucket and sponge!
  6. No matter what car I’ve had I’ve barely been able to hear my wife in the passenger seat!
  7. As an aside it may be pertinent to mention that I’ve no intention of selling it it the near future so I’m not interested in keeping up a full Lexus service history for maximum returns. In fact I cannot think of anything out there that suits my needs better than this. I know some may suggest going to an independent but as a non gambler I like to keep the warranty for peace of mind.
  8. That’s my thinking. Am just wondering if I have missed anything!
  9. Apparently not. My extended warranty will be valid until March the the one year thing will take over. Most of the checks on a full service cover wear and tear items which aren’t covered anyway. Knowing my luck the infotainment system will pack up next April!
  10. I was wondering what other members would do? I have a 2014 GS300h with 70,194 miles on the clock. It is due a service at the start of November. Technically it’s due a full service for £630. As I have done just over 5000 miles since the last service. Prior to that service I covered less than 2000 miles since the previous one. I am therefore thinking of doing an intermediate service for £325. From what I can see the main difference between a full and intermediate is mainly checking more things! The only major difference, I think, is changing the brake fluid. I know that moisture can get into the system but surely the problems with that will be a gradual reduction in braking performance rather than a catastrophic breakage? £305 seems expensive for a brake fluid change. Am I missing something? According to the dealer I will get the one year warranty regardless of which service I have. I also have my previous extended warranty till March next year. What would others do?
  11. Is that calculated or from the on board computer? I have a 2014 GS300h premier and according to the computer have averaged 44.7mpg over five years of ownership. That has been on a variety of journeys from the occasional 400 miles plus to short shopping trips. Over the last four years it’s mainly been on the quiet Lincolnshire roads. Not bad for a 2.5 litre behemoth! Our second car is a 2008 1.4 litre Honda jazz which has averaged 42.2 over a slightly longer period than the Lexus. I’m happy with the economy I’m getting from the Lexus. I drive it how I expect it to be driven. Relaxing cruising with the occasional burst of speed when required. I’m also old enough to remember my Vanden Plas 1300 and was well chuffed when I managed 28 mpg!
  12. As an aside to this our leather sofa shows signs of wear. What product would folk recommend? The sofa is only three years old. The leather seats in my GS are eight years old and show no signs of wear!
  13. This is also my experience. If I fill the tank and the engine is warm and I poodle along for a few miles the range is huge. However if I fill the tank and drive sportingly the range drops dramatically quickly. But over time with a range of driving styles the calculated range balances out.
  14. I find that normal mode normally gives me my best economy and range. EV mode is only useful for moving the car short distances around my drive to save the engine starting for a short period. ECO mode gives the best economy when travelling in 50 mph motorway roadworks when brisk acceleration is neither needed or desirable. I have found that using ECO mode in normal driving reduces fuel economy because you have to accelerate harder to achieve the same response that you’d get in normal mode. Sport and sport + improve acceleration and reduce economy if used briskly but in normal driving doesn’t make much difference. I think that normal mode is the most efficient because that’s what Lexus engineers have designed it to be most efficient. I may be totally wrong but that’s my experience. I also have a GS which may work differently.
  15. I agree with this. Always better to speak to someone and explain your personal circumstances. I used to work for a charity and had to occasionally use my car for charity purposes. I wasn’t sure if this was ‘business’ use. When I explained the situation my cost dropped by £10.
  16. Surely the insurance company needs to prove you were negligent. If they can’t do that they can’t say it’s your fault!
  17. This thread has intrigued me. I have a 2014 GS300h premier. The seats are obviously real leather and beautiful. Semi aniline I believe. However, I’ve always had doubts about the door panels and front arm rest as they feel different. The Lexus dealers I’ve spoken to have assured me that they are leather but I’m not so sure!
  18. Interesting. I’ve a GS300h premier with semi aniline leather and wondered if it was genuine as it doesn’t smell as nice as an old vanden plas 1300 I had many years back which smelt wonderful if you could ignore the rotten wood scents!
  19. I buy relatively small purchases on line but expensive stuff I like to see what I’m getting for my money. However I have been known to looking at things in shops then buying it cheaper on line! The difference is that I’m buying a general product not a specific one!
