  1. Gents. thanks for the replies. Paul, I didn't realise you can't set destination while moving - I thought I had done so before, however it could have been that I edited or changed destinations on the move. I will play with it over the next few days. Thanks Again. Gareth
  2. All, Has anyone else had problems with the OEM sc 430 sat nav? I loaded the car's boot up this evening for the drive back to London and after about five minutes of driving switched on the sat nav. It switched on as normal and tracked the cars progress but wouldn't allow me to use most of the options including setting a destination. I left it on in the hope that it would reboot itself but it didn't. Once in the London traffic (and constant braking) it blinked back into life and I set the destination and it worked as normal. I am thinking there could be a loose connection somewhere, esp as the boot was loaded up and there could have been some weight on the dvd unit. Anyone had similar experiences? If so how did you cure it? Thanks in anticipation Gareth
  3. Hi Paul, Thanks for the detailed information, you got a great deal, I contacted safe n sound today to get mine done. Regards Gareth
  4. Hi Paul, Was this dificult to instal? have you still got use of the cd unit? pls let me know as it seems a good solution. Thank You Gareth

  6. Hi thank you for your response I started to reseaRCH parrot systems and found this advice on one website : The Kit itself (parrot mki 9200)as a built in 4 x 20 watt amplifier, the kit takes over the speaker system in the car as it does with the phone call, for all the audio functions. Now this is why people with Harman Kardon or Bose are going to have a problem. Modern HK or Bose uses MOST (Media Orientated Systems Transport) or Fibre Optic to you and me. This is why your problem exists, you can't put a high powered amplified signal into a power amplifier. At least not without causing damage. The only way you will be able to use the Ipod/Memory card ports is change the output from the MKi9200 into a Pre-amp MOST signal. Now there is an interface just become available that allows you to connect the kit via the Fibre Optic MOST system, thus giving a clean amplified signal to the speakers. The interface converts the Line out pre-amp stage of the Parrot kit into a MOST signal. Right just so we are on the same page, this interface is NOT cheap, it will cost you somewhere between £220 to £250 to buy retail. a any idea how this advice relates to the Mark Levinson system in the sc430. Any advice appreciated Gareth
  7. I trawled the forum to find how other members had connected iphones/ipods and found a reference to the above device. Has anyone fitted one? If so please let me know if you are pleased with it and how easy it was to fit or if you have something beter. Many thanks Gareth
  8. Hi Guys, Thank you for your replies. The car was parked at my girlfriend's flat in a private car park, it could have been hit by another resident but no one has admitted it (surprise surprise). I thought about purchasing one of these - But settled on one of these - http://www.maplin.co.uk/500gb-network-security-system-with-smartphone-viewing-and-2-x-480tvl-cameras-590010 Its easier to install and less messy - set it up, it works fine and is good value esp when you use the online voucher I found giving £20 off Gareth
  9. Thought I would post this as it may help someone else. I returned from holiday to find my beloved sc430 had a large (dinner plate size) dent in the front bumber. Needless to say the driver who caused the damage left no details. I wondered if I could simply remove the trim from the inner wheel arch and pop the dent out by applying direct pressure. The trim was easy to remove and I managed to squeeze a hand in however could not get enough leverage to move the dent. I looked on the net and found this clip on you tube. This worked a treat, I need to get the paint touched up, however the dent has gone and the car looks much beter. All the best GBGJD
  10. Thanks for the replies guys, picking the car up next week as it needed a cambelt and service. Comments re clarkson made me lol. One of the guys from Lexus in Birmingham told me he was at a trade show a few years ago and had been on the hit and miss all day, pitched up at the Lexus stand expecting to be treated like royalty, instead they f**cked him off. Could help explain some of his ridiculous comments re Lexus on the other hand maybe he's just a Knob.
  11. Hi, Purchased my SC420 on Friday, it's being prepped prior to picking it up next week and i can't wait! Read a lot of rubbish on the net about Lexus cars being boring and the SC in particular being a poor car, that is inferior to the Jag XK8, Merc sl etc. Having compared and driven an XKR and SL, came to the conclusion that many "experts" have simply viewed the SC from a pure performance angle. Meanwhile in the real world where reliability, build quality, comfort, cost (purchase/running) and flexibility of use are issues the SC wins hands down. I applaud their stance however, as they have enabled me to purchase a fantastic car at a fraction of its true value. Be interested in your views. Gareth
  12. Thank you for the replies - Yes will get some picks posted after I pick it up. Been looking for a nice SC for a while and prior to viewing was a bit skeptical re the milage on this one, however buying from a lexus dealer who has verified milage via services/HPI/Mot's (plus the condition/ownership history also stack up) so I am convinced its genuine. Great forum, Thanks again G
  13. A quick note to say Hi, Just bought my first Lexus (SC430 on 2001 plate) 17k with FLSH. Saw it, drove it fell in love with it and pick it up next week. Had a look on site pre purchase - loads of great advice, so thank you for sharing your experiences, look forward to adding my own soon. Gareth
