Thanks for the reply Steve but the corrosion is right at the end near the valve and I don't think there is enough room to get any fitting on the pipe and without further investigation don't know if the factory fitting can be taken off the pipe and re-used, hey the fun of owning a lexus. Hi I have an 03 ls430 there is a pipe that delivers air to the rear suspension it runs from the comp to a valve at the rear of the car and then splits to each wheel, this pipe is badly corroded in one small area and costs about £200 to buy and according to Lexus takes a little over a day to fit so labour is going to be mega bucks, has anybody come across this if so is there a quick fix or does it have to be replaced front to back. Sorry to bring up an old topic but due to corroded pipes I am going to get the rear air pipes welded up but after reading old topics am not sure if they should be welded up as two seperate pipes or made into a loop, I cannot find a schematic in my manual and talking to other owners there is an arguement that they should be looped to allow coolant to circulate. Can anybody confirm the correct way to isolate the rear air con Many thanks in advance Eric

Sorry to drag an old topic up, I was going to have the rear air con pipes cut and sealed due to corroded pipes but even reading old topics cannot be certain if they just need to be cut and sealed as two seperate pipes or cut and welded together to form a loop, this is after to talking to other owners who argue that the liquid needs to circulate around the system, I cannot locate a diagram in the manual I have to confirm or not. Any info most gratefully received Eric

Hi Steve thanks for the prompt reply, it was the AC guy that was asking what difference blanking the rear AC off would make to the amount of gas required. They are prepared to blank off as requested. Regarding the repair to the pipe it was just a blanket can't be done, not the location of leak,not trying for more work,not even an offer to make one.

Hi can anybody tell me how much gas and oil is required after blanking rear air con off on a ls 430? A leak on the rear pipes has resulted in me going down this path, I was also wondering why these pipes can't be repaired joined or have a small section fitted to replace the leaky section Thanks up front Eric

I have developed a leak in the pipe to the rear AC Iv'e been told that replacement pipes are in the region of £400 and are a pig to fit (fuel tank out plus lpg gas tank out) I wonder if it would be possible to bridge the pipework out and do away with the rear AC. I understand that the coolant must circulate and the pipes can't just be blanked off. Any comments would be most welcome

Yes did sensor 1 bank 2 in 2013 no further probs from that one, I think this code was p0135 but I'm guessing without going to garage

Thanks colin does this mean that they are the same sensor and the only difference is the actual cable? the reason I ask is that I have replaced bank 1 sensor 1 and still have the same fault code (faulty heater circuit) so before I get under and swear a lot while trying to dissconect to test and then try to get a free replacement. I know I have fitted correct sensor. Thanks again Eric

Just fitted replacement lambda after alarm showed for heater cicuit failure, same alarm has come up after fitting replacement, any idea's were I could look next as to reason for alarm?? Thank you up front Eric

I have a 03 plate ls430 and on a recent service at lexus I was given a advisery for both back boxes and an O2 sensor I did the O2 sensor and noticed that the whole of the exhaust was showing it'e age but not being able to pay lexus prices for a full system started to look elswere but being out in the sticks in South West Scotland finding somewere that will supply and fit is being a problem does any member know were I may get this done without having to travel hundreds of mile. Hi I connected the two pipe stubs on the rad together just in case the thing failed again this should stop the loss of all the coolant. I am a bit paranoid after paying for a gearbox rebuild.

Hi Iam sorry just at the moment I have no means of producing a photo, but yes I do have the same car. The cooler is bolted to the alloy cross member infront of the rad with small right angle brackets that places it just below the cross member to the right of center,my cooler is about 10"wide *3" high* 2" deep. You need two right angle connectors and fittings to come down to 10mm for the pipes to connect to, one will be long enough but you will need to extend or as I did replace the other with a longer piece of pipe. The whole job once all parts were obtained took about two hours, bottom cover off to expose pipes.drilling the alloy cross member was by far the most time consuming you need one of those gizmoes that allows you to drill at right angles and the space in front of the rad is tight but it can be done, fit brackets to cooler and bolt in place ,if you have the car up on ramps when you take the original pipes of yoy should only lose a tea cup of ATF at most. I will try and sort some shots once I get my camera sorted. |Eric

Hi Just had a look to se if I had any record of the size ofcooler I fitted but not to hand. I got mine of ebay there is a fair selection I think it was about an 8 row unit ,but as they are only really needed in hot climates or if towing any small unit should suffice.

Hi I can't be 100% sure regarding the coolant that was used but the vehicle had a fsh and I managed to get the Lexus dealership look up i'ts history it had a new rad fitted at some time in it's life before i purchased it no reason why was shown. So no obvious reason for failure. The ATF cooler I fitted is working a treat, no problems so far done some lengthy motorway runs at the legal speeds of course

Hi I have an 03 ls430 thats due for some new tyres but I'm struggling to make sense of all the lettering the tyres fitted at the moment are 225/552r17 101xl they also have 9500 in the tyre wall. Can anybody tell me what the speed rating of these tyres should be? and also explain what letter equals what speed. Thanks up front eric

Hi I have an alarm up on my 03 ls430 showing a air valve fault but no symtoms ie it ticks over fuel consumption OK emmisions from MOT all fine so I suspect the sensor but were is it and how do I get to it, Lexus won't get involved as it's gassed so it's a D.I.Y. job. any advice would be much appreciated

Any thoughts on why my mirrors have stopped dipping when reverse is engaged, they were working when I left home for a MOT but had stopped when MOT was completed was in attedance through most of test so I don't think anything was done that should have affected them just coincidence or what?. Re previous topic still not got to the bottom of the p1651 alarm yet. Eric

Try looking alongside and below the engine dipstick on mine it is red, hope this helps.

Hi again, After managing to fix the last alarm with help from the furum I have only just stopped patting myself on the back and another alarm has come up this one reads p1651 and p1651 p had a quick shufty in the code book and these numbers are not listed with ref to the manuall the only number shown there was p1651/96 assuming that it is the same it is the VSV for ACIS circuit which appears to be something to do with the air control valve. Any thoughts on how to progress with this would be most welcome. Eric

Hi thanks to all who responded to my post. A quick up-date I have ordered new sensor, got he old one out to-day I borrowed the lambda socket but it started to slip so I did away with that idea and loosened the heat shield that allowed me to get a ring spanner over the elec plug and onto sensor and off it came. Hopefully this will clear the fault. I will let you know the outcome. regards Eric
