  1. Is there any particular 'Kit' that you would recommend please?
  2. Just a bit of an update on my 220d. Many of you will recall that some time ago I started a thread entitled 'Problems headed off at the pass?' in which I discussed the cleaning of the EGR Valve on my car and, that I had used the Bardahl Cleaning Kit and subsequently have used the Bardahl B10 Fuel additive at each fill-up of the tank. I also reported on what I thought were splendid mpg returns on my trip to Lincolnshire. This then is just to tell you of my findings on a more local trip. Yesterday I went on a 75 mile round-trip to North Devon by way of the A376, and then passing through the centre of Exeter and then on to the A377 through Crediton, on these roads I encountered areas with speed imits of 20, 30, 40, and 50 mph, no real chance to use the Cruise Control because the roads have too many bends! On arriving back home, the trip computer was showing 48.9 mpg. Once again I am very pleased with this. Under the circumstances I will be contiuing to use the B10 as the car seems to run very smoothly. On my run to the local snooker club on Saturdays and all on 'B' roads, I find that I am always showing 42mpg, once agin I am pleased with this. One futher point on the 220d, I am really impressed with the acceleration. On Saturday I went to Plymouth and on a few occasions I found it necessary to accelerate to get past a few cars so I thought I would give it 'bit of a go' and was pleasantly surprised at how quickly the car got up to 3 figures! All in all I am very pleased with every aspect of my car, I just wish that I did more annual miles to have justified my buying a diesel. So deep down I am still concerned that I may run into the problems often highlighted on here so am still looking to change to the 250
  3. Thank you for your input. What sort of money were you selling your cars at? I have sold most of my cars privately in the past but they were all at the lower end of the market, i.e. probably less than £2000.00 whereas I am now trying to sell at nearer to £10000.00 and I don't think that is so easy. It would be nice if you came back to me to tell me that yours were higher value cars, this would give me a lot more confidence. Not that high value unfortunately, all under £3k. It's still definitely worth a punt though I'd say as it'll cost you between £15-20 to place a decent ad for a month and mine all sold within that time. One even sold within two days, although it was only a rusty M reg corsa for a couple of hundred quid. One thing though is that I have a fairly accomplished ebay account with a 100% feedback rating, if your a brand new member selling for the first time it might have an impact on attracting potential buyers. Hi again, thanks for coming back to me again. I'm not a prolific user of ebay, I am currently showing a count of 82/83 I think it is,but I also have a 100% feedback score so hopefully this might work in my favour. The cost to advertise is minimal at £14.99 and I have noticed that there has been 25 page views so far so the ad is getting looked at. Still got me fingers crossed!!
  4. After reading your post I decided to pop out to the car and check mine. I only need to press my button once and the radio comes on OK. I too have the 220d so I'm not sure if the previous owner had anything done to enable this.

  6. Thanks again mikeyv, I think that I will give it a go today, who knows, I might just strike it lucky.
  7. helo mikeyv, yes I've spotted a few for sale on there and did wonder whether or not to give it a go, I might just have a gander again. I'm always a bit concerned as to what sort of response I might get, but then i can always take it off again.
  8. just wondered if any cars do get sold via the Lexus Classifieds. When I look at that particular section, there are lots of views recorded but not many replies. I have tried Autotrader without any joy. Anyone got any ideas? I would prefer to sell mine privately as the P/X figures are uninspiring!
  9. Have you managed to find something suitable to use to get the unit out? As I say, anything will do as long as it is close to but no thicker than 1.5mm and is sturdy, i.e not flexible.
  10. Did you just clean the EGR Valve? When i did mine I used a complete cleaning kit that is sprayed into the system whilst the engine is running, I also continue to use a fuel additive at each fill-up of the tank. For the full story, have a look at my thread "Problems headed off at the pass" which was a little earlier this year. I have had great results following the cleaning process and when I've finished using my supply of B10 additive I'm going to have a go with AR6400 (I think I've remembered that correctly) as recommended by normski2. (Providing I've still got the car of course!)
  11. I had these fitted to my Rover 75 and had no problems with them whatsoever. This was about 18months ago so can't remember what I paid though.
  12. Very short response to this and that is to say that I absolutely love the colour of your car. I'd just love a 250 in this colour.
  13. Hiya, I had the same problem when I collected my car from the dealership. I pointed out that the light wasn't working and a guy from the workshop came to the car, eased the bottom of the panel away at the bottom adjacent to the light, put his hand inside, found the trailing cable and made the connection and wallah, light worked a treat! As sjrainsford says, just ease the panel at the poppers and the panel will come away, definitely no need to remove the complete panel though, unless of course you can't locate the cable. Hope this helps.
  14. Is there anything else that I may be able to help you with, information-wise?
  15. You will priobably find that you have got something lying around at home that will do the job. There is nothing special about these pins really, They are very similar to a couple of watch repairers screwdrivers with the flat or phillips ends ground off them. If your gran (lol) has a number of knitting needles lying around, then these will do the job perfectly. What you are looking for is something no thicker than 1.5 mm and which is quite sturdy. Don't forget to put a bit of masking tape across the holes in the clock unit so that if you slip you won't scratch anything. On the back of the clock unit, at each end, is a small piece of springsteel that holds the unit in place, all that the 'pins' do is to compress this springsteel so that you can slide the unit out. I managed to release just one end of the unit in my car (the clock end) and then eased it forward and the other end just freed itself so you may find that you can do it with only one pin. When you insert the pins you will then need to angle them in towards each other, at the ends you are holding, this action compresses the springsteel and you can then ease the unit forwards towards you. Hope this helps. Just take it nice and easy and don't try to force anything and you will be fine.
  16. Hi there, the part number for the latest disk is PZ445-X03EU-0C Hope this helps.
  17. Decide to go for it then, well done, looks a nice buy. enjoy it. Have a look at my threads, one in particular called 'Problems headed off at the pass' this will give you some useful info on the EGR Valve. There are other useful threads too.
  18. Car looks really nice jason61c, love the colour, shame about the black leather, I mentioned before that I do prefer the lighter colours. I think that you will have yourself a good buy there. Are you close to a decision yet? Don't forget, if you really do want an 07 car, my 57 plate jobby is still up for grabs. it's possibly the only 220d around that has closing/opening mirrors when doors are locked/unlocked, so it could be unique. I'm sure that you will be pleased if you go for the blue one.
  19. If the car is up to scratch you should get your required 40mpg, no trouble. If you look at one of my previous threads you will see that on a run to and around Licolnshire a couple of months or so ago, I was getting 55 to 57 on the motorway using cruise control and, on the overall trip of in excess of 600 miles I averaged 48.6mpg which I was very pleased with. I am continuing to monitor the cars performance and I am pleased to say that even on the short runs that I do I am constantly showing in excess of 40mpg. There is no doubt in my mind that the decision to clean the EGR Valve PRIOR to experiencing any problems has resulted in the mpg figures that I am now getting, plus of course, the car runs smoothly and sounds good too. Good luck with your viewing and negotiating on the car.
  20. Which one are you going to try to get for £8300.00 then? Let me know if you have any success and i will try some arm twisting too!
  21. Thank you normski2, just wish I could get a bite. Yes I spotted that one but, it is only an SE as opposed to the SE-L which I think is much better equipped, plus of course, it must have SatNav for me. That would be a good price. I'll have a good think about it, ideally I was looking for a dark car inside and out. I'm not a great fan of black leather, depending on other things, I might not let it be a deal breaker though. I much prefer the lighter coloured leather, I always think that it adds a bit of class. Judging by the weather forecast i may need to use the seat cooler tomorrow, I find that a really good addition to the car, nothing worse than hot leather seats in the summer. Of course you then have the alternative option of heating them up in the winter!
  22. Yes I have, this should get you there.....hopefully! http://www.autotrade...20010?logcode=p That does look nice but also makes the one in the lexus dealers look like sensible value...... Mmmmmmm Hello jason61c, I would probably have let it go for £9500.00 and then if the buyer bought themselves a 12month Lexus Warranty for, I think it's £735.00 (which they wouldn't need to do until the end of October anyway, which is when the current one runs out, they will have themselves a car with a very high spec for £10235, with a full Lexus service History and you won't buy that sort of thing for that price at a Lexus dealership.
  23. Thank you normski2, just wish I could get a bite. Yes I spotted that one but, it is only an SE as opposed to the SE-L which I think is much better equipped, plus of course, it must have SatNav for me.
  24. Absobloominlutely!! nothing better than the smell of quality leather when you get in a car. I would insist that they leave it alone if I should win the lottery and then go into the dealership to buy one. No smell...................no car!!
