  1. I now drive a 15 plate Supercharged 3 litre Jaguar XE and road tax is only £315. How much is the tax on an 07 plate Lexus IS250 auto? £360! I actually get slightly better mpg from the Jag too.
  2. Definitely the alternator. This happened to me a few years. No advance warnings whatsoever. Any competent garage can do the job.
  3. My next car will be a Jaguar XE. I'll probably be using my phone for satnav directions, as the Jaguar unit is pants...
  4. Just to add my 2p worth, I have a 2008 IS250 with satnav and it works perfectly fine. I installed a updated 2019 disc, which enables me to input post codes whilst on the move. I've also added a digital CD changer which can play music from a USB stick, and I can also plug in my ipod. This is all controllable from the touch screen or steering wheel controls. The Mark Levinson system is simply one of the best systems I have ever heard in a car. My previous car was a fully loaded 07 plate BMW 330i M sport.
  5. Thanks for your quick response. It does seem strange that it has been behaving like this for a year. I had the alternator tested, and it all checked out okay. Strange that neutral turns off the light?
  6. I got a intermittent battery light coming on. It only comes on if I'm at a standstill, but I can get it to go off if I select neutral. Seems to occur first drive of the day mostly. My local garage told me the alternator was on it's way out, but that was over a year ago... Strange that selecting neutral always turns the light out. The battery is also less than a year old. Any ideas anyone?
  7. My battery warning lamp has recently started intermittently flashing. I recently changed my battery, after having to jump start the car. My local garage tested the alternator last weekend and all seems okay, but the battery lamp flashed twice this morning on my journey to work. It only seems to flash when I am stationary, or coasting to a stop. Anyone have any ideas what could be causing this issue? The serpentine belt seems to be fine, and does not sound like it is slipping. The car has 130k miles on the clock, but drives like brand new. Sorry for the long post.
  8. Clean the inside if the rear screen with some glass cleaner. It's quite a common problem, not exclusive to Lexus.
  9. There's a company that sells transmission oil on ebay, and they also advertise a transmission fluid change service. They are in your neck of the woods too. Look up Lexus or Toyota transmission oil, you should easily find there details that way.
  10. As said in the previous responses. It's also in the owners manual. My car won't change up to 4th or 5th gear for at least 4-5 minutes until up to operational temperature. It is a built in safety feature to protect the transmission.
  11. It's quite a common fault on various brands, as I've experienced it in my previous IS250, and a Honda Accord I once owned. A good wipe on the inside of the glass with some glass cleaner, always did the trick for me. Give it a try.
  12. I bought my disc on Ebay. Cost me £13.99. Now I can put in destinations whilst on the move. Sorry but I can't seem to post the link.
  13. Good evening folks, ive noticed that my battery lamp has started to flash occasionally. It seems to happen when either I'm coasting to a stop, or at a standstill in traffic. I've had the car since last October, and I think the battery is fairly new. Any thoughts on what could be causing this? The car drives perfectly.
  14. I've got a 121,000 miles and counting. Bought the car last October with 115k on the clock. I've added 2 litres of oil since then, but no other upsets. It still drives like a new car. I sometimes drive with the radio off just to listen to it softly waft down the road. No squeaks or rattles .
  15. I bought a 2018 disc last October from a vendor on eBay, and it worked perfectly. I can now enter destinations whilst on the move. Cost me £10, and I did not have to disconnect the battery.
  16. I had the same problem a few months ago. Definitely radio interference. I asked my new neighbours if they had any new equipment, but of course they said no. Shortly afterwards, everything went back to normal, and I was able to use my keyfobs again.
  17. Hi folks I'm looking for a set of metal pedal covers like the sport type for my 07 plate IS250 auto. I would prefer covers rather than the type which require me to remove the original rubber covers and drill into the metal pedal base. Any links would be much appreciated.
  18. You didn't mention your budget, but I bought for £4,200 last year on a 07 plate with 115k on the clock. Unless you are paying less than £3k for this car, I would pass on this one. It sounds like it has been a little neglected.
  19. I will ask the neighbours if they have any new devices, but don't hold out much hope of getting a honest answer. No new cars in my neighbourhood though. It such a pain really.
  20. Mobile signal is good where I live. Played up again this morning, but fine for the rest of the day, until I got home. Then it didn't want to lock!
  21. I'm having a issue that started a few days ago. Both my keyfobs wouldn't open the doors recently. After several attempts it finally opened. I can nearly always open the passenger door by pressing the sensor on the handle, but not the drivers side. After driving to work it's fine. Only seems to play up when parked in my driveway. No new wireless stuff in my house. Any ideas?
  22. Hi folks my rear pads will need changing on my new to me 07 plate IS250. I always try to upgrade when changing parts, so does anyone have any recommendations. I was looking at drilled discs with a set of Mintex pads.Is there any real advantage to having drilled discs beside heat dissapation. What about slotted and drilled discs? All opinions wanted. Thanks in advance
