  1. Just had a sudden problem. Car was driving fine yesterday. Today I went to start the car only for it to not start. If you've tried to start it while the steering wheel is moving into position, then that is exactly what its like. I get a click which might be solenoid. I thought it could be the battery being low on charge so its been recharged throughout the day but still, all I get when I turn the key is a loudish 'click' coming from what appears to driverside wing, Any help appreciated guys please!
  2. Hi TF Windscreen would lose me my ncb on insurance so would prefer to go with a used one ideally. Bloody p in the a. Same week two rear tyres went.
  3. Just got a nasty crack of about 3" situated at top corner of passenger side of windscreen due to stone chip. Can anyone give me a ballpark figure for a second hand replacement? Its not a chip but rather a crack so I doubt I can repair it. Help appreciated
  4. Hi mate Welcome to the site. Enjoy taking part in it :)
  5. Hiya. Welcome to the club mate.
  6. Hi mate Had mine for a few months now although had a few different Lexus previously. 1997 Mk1 unfortunately with about seven owners although low(ish) mileage. Its a great feeling getting into a Lexus every time. You will enjoy it

  10. Lol, I can't remember ever seeing inside a 430 so I was looking at it thinking that it was less spec'ed than I expected! DOH! Love the finish on the car. Exhaust tips look wonderful. Great photographs
  11. If memory serves right, you can falsely trigger the lock when its open by pressing a screwdriver blade in the lid side. It would be worth trying this to see which part of the lock isn't working. Are the jaws open (unlocked) or closed? If you can close them using a screwdriver, can you unlock using the key or boot release? It might be that they (the lock and catch) are not lined up properly (they can loosed over time) or it could be that the lock is knackered (to use a technical term)
  12. Hi Guys Welcome to the forum from the opposite end of the UK :)
  13. Hi there Welcome to the club. If the handbrake fluid is okay, it would seem likely that its either the sensor for the brake fluid OR that the sensor/switch for the handbrake is dodgy. I've had the latter on a different car. With regard to the boot lock, as Tigerfish asks, what kind of 'broken'?
  14. I'd agree with Steve regarding the sunroof. Its happened on a couple of cars of mine so would be my first point of investigation.
  15. Ay Up Welcome to the forum
  16. Lovely looking car. That grey colour really contrasts well with the silver wheels. Mine is the mirror image, silver with gunmetal wheels. Paintwork is in superb condition.
  17. Condensation is a common problem when a car is stood for some time. Once its dried out, its relatively easy. Drying out can be done on the car or, if you take it off then a good way of sorting condensation is to put the piece affected in a tub of rice. The rice will absorb and draw out the moisture. The key though, is finding out where it is entering (the damp). A quick seal with silicon is the best way. There used to be a product called Comma Seak n Seal which changed its name and is a nautical product now (if its wanted I can search it out) which runs into the tiny gaps and solidifies. Its great for windscreens and really works. Can't quite remember the name but I know its a really daft name.
  18. Welcome to the hub of Lexus ownership!
  19. Yeah - here are the item numbers for them 250840009694 110671933276 Both are push twist bulbs. I saw the 'how-to' and saw that you can get ones that don't need pushing into the holders. Not sure I've got as many or the variety that is fully needed but don't aim to start the project until I know I've got enough for the whole job.
  20. I bought mine from ebay. Haven't fitted them yet but in my box of 'to-do' things for the New Year. I know there are only two types of bulb. One of the companies delivered in less than a week the other took nearly a month. Both came from China though. Only hope ten of each is enough :)
  21. I reckon the best bet money wise is to see if someone you know has AA recovery and get them to call the AA saying they are with you as (if I remember rightly), AA covers the person and not the car including passenger. I think there is some relevance to the battery going flat in the first case when it was unexpected. Something caused that. Just wondering whether it is the alternator as once the car is started, then the power for everything should be coming from the alternator (I think!).
  22. Hi mate Seasons greetings and welcome to the club
  23. I'd guess its related to the battery condition. Either the battery isn't keeping any charge or the alternator isn't charging it. If it starts on jump then the car is running okay but if the car isn't taking the charge, it will sink and die. Might be worth taking the battery out and check it. Either that or get someone to check the state of the alternator. I'm sure someone much more knowledgeable will be more help. Welcome to the club though.
  24. Hi mate. Seasons greetings and welcome.
