IMHO the LS400 MK4 is the better car, better mpg, handling, finish, looks. I have owed mk3, mk4 and face lift 430. If you like the look of the 430 maybe go for the early model w/o air suspension
You could try by disconnecting the battery, both pos and neg. Leave off for about 5 min. Short the pos and neg cables together AFTER you disconnect them. It may also reset itself after some driving.
I have owned both the mk3, mk4 and now the LS430. I think the main problem is owners feel let down by Lexus because of very poor quality control. For what its worth I believe the LS400 was a better car because better quality control was in place at that time
I do not think that is the right hitch for the euro LS400 unless the rear bumper is differance from the mk3 and mk4. The one in Steves post looks something like the one I had made.
I tried to buy one years ago for my mk3 but I could not find a company to ship outside the USA, so I got a local company to make one based on the american design. They keeped telling me it would be cheaper to buy one, I did not tell them they were no longer for sale. Changed it to my mk4 a couple of years later but it would not fit my LS430. Once you use the correct steel you should not have a problem. 3 bolts hold it on to each rail. I toed a 4 wheel box trailer without a problem.
My advice would be fix it when it breaks. £5000 may appear a large sum but when it comes to lexus cars you can spend that very quickly. If it is working ok leave well enought alone and just enjoy it.
Thank you for your reply . I do not have a reader but i will find a local garage. I wonder if it is worth buying my own , if you can recommend one that would be helpful .
I have the following warning messages ABS, TRC off, check VSC, and check system. Some days they switch on/off 10 times a day then may not come on for a week. Will a OBD 2 tell me what the fault is or will it require a Lexus garage. Thank you.
Rang my Lexus dealer, you are correct all 430 shocks are interchangeable. To change from air to standard requires extra fittings. Total cost for parts only about €2,500.00. Air shock only about €1,000.00 each. Strutmasters are checking shipping costs.
