  1. Hi Guys, Does the Tezza and IS300 share the same shocks? I keep seeing Tokico Illumina specified for the IS300 but nothing for the IS200. I'm looking to change the shocks on my Tezza but I don't want to change the height so I don't need full coil overs. Does anyone know if the IS300 Shocks will work on the Tezza?

  3. Just pointing out something. Turbochargers are generally more fuel efficient than superchargers and lag really isn't that big a deal anymore so if you are already experiencing poor fuel consumption I'd suggest a Turbocharger. I'm with the rest though.. go for it. BTW... Is your RS Auto or Manual?
  4. Thanks JDM, I'll probably give you a shout in the new year to source me a set.
  5. Thanks man. I now I had promised this stuff a while back so I hope it will still do some good.

    Radio Expander

No Prob, I had promise Scott I'd do the post some time back. I had the pics just sitting there so when I saw this post I figured I should stop being lazy and contribute.
  7. For those of you who have not read the "How to Dismantle the Tezza Dashboard" you need to before this section. It can be found here: How to dismantle the dashboard First the little I know about expanders: There are apparently powered and non powered expanders. This post will shows how to install the powered kind. There is also a difference in the frequency expansion. I know of 14MHz expanders and 18 MHz expanders. The picture below shows a 18MHz expander. 18MHz Expander You will notice the inscription says INPUT: 94-108 MHz OUTPUT: 76-90 MHz. In simplified terms this means the expander enable the radio to pickup frequencies between 94-108 though your display will continue to show 76-90 MHz. (So if you want channel 102.5 you will tune the radio to 84.5 - Just add 18 to obtain the right freq being displayed). Of course if it were a 14 MHz expander you'd add 14 to the displayed freq to obtain the correct freq. Here's another view of the expander explaining where the cables should be connected. Expander connections Now that the dashboard is dismantled, You will need to locate the ports and connectors to which the cables of the expander is to be connected. The hardest is the source of power. You will need a multimeter/voltmeter. There are two connectors at the rear of the head unit. Head Unit rear view Head Unit connectors Use the multimeter to probe the metal contacts of the two connectors with the ingnition on (Connect the black probe to the any exposed metal connected to the chassis touch each metal contact on the connector with the red probe). You should find two contacts reading 12V. Switch the ignition off and probe the two contacts reading 12V again. One will not have a reading. That is the one to which you will connect the power cable for the expander. The above picture shows where on the '02 Tezza this power source is....confirm before the connection is made. The expander I bought had a nifty device for connecting the cables without having to cut and splice the cables. It is the blue dohicky seen in the pic below below. If you can't source one of these then you have to splice the power cable to the rear of the ignition cable identified with the multimeter above. Ignition connected That being done no all that is needed is for you to connect the antennae to the expander (see pic of expander connections above) and connect the expander to the antennae port on your head unit (see pic of head unit rear view). You are good to go. I used a tie wrap to position the expander out of the way of the head unit. Before assembling everything do yourself a favour and do a test run. Wouldn't want to have to take everything apart again to fix problems. ;) That's it your done
  8. Thanks again Guys. Guru, Do you know specifically which adjustable KYBs can fit the Altezza. I had KYBs on my 96 Tureno and I loved them. I will do some checking. If I find anything I'll post the result.
  9. Hi Guys, I doing this post as the first of three. The ultimate aim is to show how to install an expander and how to manually clear a CD Jam from the 6 disc changer. * The first (this one) will show how to dismantle the dashboard. * The second will show how to install the expander * The third will show how to dislodge CDs from the changer I hope this helps. Sorry about the links.... .I tried using the "img" tags but it won't allow me to post. Here is the basic dashboard. My Car is a 2002 RS200 6sp man with Sat Nav so it may differ slightly for new or older cars. '02 RS200 dashboard First you need to lift the Sat Nav screen. You will see a notched plastic cover. Remove the cover. Sat Nav tray Lifted This cover shields two screws which need to be removed before the Sat Nav tray can be removed. (for those without Sat-Nav Trays I read in a post on IS300.Net that you should be able to pull out the top tray with a firm yank...........Be careful!!!! ) Sat Nav tray Screws After the screws are removed, lift the Sat-Nav tray. This will expose the two upper screws for the AC and head unit mount. (Loosen the screws but wait until the lower two screws are removed before totally removing these) San Nav tray lifted Now you need to remove the panel housing the TRaction Control buttons. This is done with a firm pull. Traction Control panel This exposes the two lower screws. Remove them. Lower Screws Remove the Upper two screws and with care, lower the headunit assembly. Detach Cables Detach the cables for the AC and the Head Unit and Voila!!! :D Dismantled Dashboard Stay tuned .... I'll have the rest up in a bit.
  10. Thanks guys, I really didn't want to go the route of coilovers, too expensive for what I want to achieve. Colin, Do you know of any good coilovers in the sub $1000 range? Scorpion, Does ShockTactic have a website......and would they ship internationally? I live in Jamaica.
  11. Hi guys, I want a marginaly harder ride than my stock shock absorbers give but I don't want to change the ride hieght. Are there any aftermarket shocks I can get to achieve this.
  12. Externally, there is no way to tell the differences between the models. If the site says they are both RS 200Z well I'd go for the second like you said except in the case that the first is a Manual and the second an Auto. (0-60 Man 7.1, Auto 9.4) If they are both RS they should be 2.0L Inline four engines. The Altezza AS has a inline 6. IT is the equivalent to your IS200
  13. I thought it funny that I haven't seen it mentioned. My car is a 2002 RS200Z, 6 MT. The tachometer is in the center on my dash and I have a digital speedometer as well as an analogue one to the left of the tach. I'd show pics but I don't know how to post 'em. I installed an band expander and wanted to post a "how to" but have no clue how to get the pics posted can some one tell me how?
  14. I'm loving this car. Driving to visit my parents, it struck me as strange that I had no reading for distance on the dash except the odometer. I had never really checked my milage so I wanted to used the trip to do so. To cut a long story short, I started fooling around the odometer (digital) and to my surprise I found two separate meters for recording distance travelled (Trip A & TripB) and a meter that estimates fuel consumption (km/l) realtime and one that estimates the total distance you can travel on your remaining fuel at "cruise speed". Maybe I'm easily impressed but I bought the car because I love it's performance and looks. This additional gadgetry just adds to my grin.
  15. Hi all, Just took delivery of my Altezza RS200Z this week :D I already love this car...the thing is I think it has a HKS Hiper (115mm) muffler. The thing is too loud. I did some research and there are silencers for 'em but I need to confrim that it is indeed a HKS Hiper. Does the Hiper have any markings or distinct features which I can identifiy. I see none from all the pictures I've seen.
