  1. Yeah those tdi units tune very well. I'm not planning on modding this car - just wondered what difference the button made on a sprint - absolutely nothing it seems
  2. Just done 4 timed standing starts to 60, 2 with xtra pwr on and 2 with it off. All 4 runs hit 60 in 9.9x seconds (I think the Speedo is out quite a bit hence being quicker than the book speed as I doubt a decat would make a second difference) So xtra pwr seems to do nothing for standing starts except make the petrol gauge go down quicker - which this car has no problems with anyway. Anyone else have any thoughts on this button as the 300 boys seem to think its a form of magic which drops a new engine along side the original one. To me it'd be better to reduce the weight by removing the button for the extra gain!
  3. Out of interest - this is an 8 speaker system so doesn't it have a sub?
  4. Cheers for the advice and links fella I'll have to see what Pennies are knocking about
  5. Yeah saw them but didn't know what am amp bypass does. I want to use the amp if possible, does this lead do that or as I thought literally bypass the amp and just use the speakers on their own?
  6. The reason I ask is I'd like to got a new head unit and need an iso converter. I have read that all se models have an amplifier but the only leads I can find for amplified systems are for 2001 and on cars. Anyone know if a lead Is available or does the pre 2001 se not have an amp?
  7. Hi mate bought one of these things a few Weeks ago and having the same problem, also at idle with lights on etc the battery drains but bring the revs up slightly and its charging again. I've been a bit lazy so far as am fed up with the amount of problems I've had in such a short space of ownership so haven't gone in to this problem much yet - its on a very long to do list. I do know however that quite a few owners have this problem. If u find a solution please post or if I get off my arse and find one I'll do the same
  8. Lol on the beamers they call it a ski hatch - I can't think of a car I'd be less likely to take up a snowy mountain. My 5er used to spend most of its time looking in the wrong direction when it snowed!
  9. transporter - I did have to carry a stick the other day, well a wooden curtain pole anyway and the stick hole proved very handy lol
  10. To be fair mate even if they did fold down I doubt you'd get a bike in the boot as the opening is quite small. As another poster suggested though a sport cross should do the job
  11. As I said I don't usually write figures - guess I've fallen foul of my own rules there! Rule number 1 - don't quote figures. Top trumps was great - be surprised if the members banging on about is300's being rocket shops will remember them though as I'm assuming they're about 18 An just for the record my dicks bigger than yours too!
  12. I don't actually like quoting figures but here goes anyway Hp o-60 torque weight is300 211 7.9 288 NM 1500kg E60 m5 500 4.9 520 NM 1800kg Just looking at those figures should tell you something. oh and for all of us out there that have never heard of the motor industries biggest kept secret - power to weight ratios are Is300 141:1 ton M5 278:1ton Lol even if the m5 was a bank down and running on just 5 cylinders it would have more horses and near identical ptw As I said - dillusional My old e39 523I was only a 170HP 2.5ltr and it was only 0.3 second slower to 60 than an is 300 - I certainly never called it a serious ly quick car. did 6mpg more too - perhaps I need to start looking at the beamers again!
  13. Wow - some of u guys are really dillusional!!! Quite scary that u would.really believe an is300 could even think about taking on an m5 or c4s. Its simply not in the same class the difference is like touring cars and f1!
  14. New coil pack in, air filter and iridium spark plugs and she's running great again. even the warning light about the de cat derma to be taking a break God knows why this started when I hit a kerb but that's honestly the exact time the light came on! At least she's sorted now and a spare coil pack in the garage for next time - I gather they go regular on these cars
