Its a Simple fix.. Just take some hot not boiled water from your kettle Pour a little over your door handle and HEY PRESTO Your Door handle will Open normally..IT DOES WORK Its just down to the really cold weather i.m Afraid..

Simple but not good enough on a car that costs over £60k. Also, -3 (at home this morning) is cold... but not that cold. There are plenty of countries in which the NX is sold that experience much colder temperatures.

I was given a NX450h yesterday morning as a courtesy car. Last night as I was leaving work, it took me 10 minutes to get into it and I was unable to give a colleague a lift to the station because I gave up trying to open the other doors. He got a list from someone else. I had the same problem again this morning.

I have never encountered such issues on my previous 4 Lexus.

  2. Personally, I feel it sufficient to double lock the car (two consecutive presses of the lock button on the fob or of the "groove" on the door handle), and to then disable the key (as documented above). This is quick, practical, and does not need any additional investment in pouches (although these are cheap) or steering locks. I also disable the spare key, which has the added benefit of lengthening the life of the Battery.

  3. After a puncture in one of the front tyres, I decided to replace the OEM Yokohama Blue Earth with the Cross Climates which were fitted earlier today. As I have mentioned before, I love the x-climates and have had them fitted to my previous NX and to RXs before that as well as to our non-Lexus cars. I replaced all 4 tyres as it is best to have the same tyres all around on a AWD vehicle. Interestingly, the rear tyres appeared to have plenty of life left in them, but showed cracks in the inside of the grooves, which was a bit of a surprise.

Unusually, my local Lexus dealer were not able source tyres from their usual suppliers, so I went to Protyre.co.uk, who have fitted tyres to my cars before.

    https://www.protyre.co.uk/search#/car/225/60/18/any/H/nonrunflat

    Cost was £152.00 per tyre.

Note that these are Cross Climate SUV, which apparently are being phased out (which explains the reduced stock) and replaced with the Cross Climate SUV 2, which do not appear to be widely available as yet.

  4. I have purchased several cars from Hedge End and have used this dealership consistently for servicing and the odd repair and I have never been disappointed.

Unfortunately, the issue you are highlighting is not currently just with Lexus, and not isolated to the car industry. It relates to the ongoing shortage of computer chips due to the huge increase in demand and the inability of manufacturers to meet that demand. The problem is exacerbated by the fact that most chips are manufactured in China, and the Chinese market itself has seen a 25% increase in demand year on year over the past 2 years. Moreover, it seems that manufacturers are also struggling in securing materials from further up the supplier chain.

Current estimates suggest that it will be least12 to 18 months before the situation stabilises... but I think this is optimistic.

Interestingly, this has a positive impact on the value of second cars which have seen their value shoot up recently.

There are plenty of other articles on the web...

  5. Have you checked to configurator for other Lexus models in Fuji Red?

You could also check the second section and search for cars in that colour?

    Or google it: try this

All these various pics should hopefully give you some idea. Dealerships used to have painted samples for viewing... is this not the case anymore?

It is a bright red. It is also a non-metallic, i.e. solid, or flat colour, but I guess you know that already.

So the ES went back to the dealer today for a new tyre, investigate the roof rattle and I actually got hold of a boot liner which are never in stock.

Todays loaner was an NX F Sport with Tech and Safety pack plus pano roof. I’ve had an NX on loan before and thought they were ok but the MPG is a tad crap - maybe something to do with a heavy foot.

Being on my 2nd ES F Sport with Takumi  pack since 2019 I’ve been spoilt with having all the toys, so it’s immediately apparent with any loaner car that things are missing.

Although the NX is OK, I missed the pano cameras and ML Sounds, but at least it’s had the panoramic roof (non opening type)

    NX Pros

    Driving position

BSM works well but not as clear and obvious as the ES.

For an SUV it drives a little sluggish compared to my boat.

Totally different drive from the ES - this is the only time I remember the ES is FWD

Although there were no ML Sounds, the stock sounds were not bad (See also Cons)

Apple Car Play / Android Auto

    USBs in the centre console

Pano fixed glass roof - a nice touch in an F Sport with a black headliner - lots of light coming in but not so much as to be blinded.

    Rear leg room ok.

Shorter than the ES so can fit into a car park space without the front or arse end hanging out 🙂

    NX Cons

The NX spends little time in EV node even when in traffic.

No HUD - I didn’t think I used mine that much but as it’s usually on it was missed.

I am used to the F Sport moving dial dash layout - the fixed dash pod sucks.

Small and shallow Small boot for an SUV, although you’d get a set of clubs in the back, I doubt you could get a baby buggy and much shopping in the boot in one hit. Not sure if the NX is a proper SUV or just trying to be one.

Cup holders don’t hold a red bull can tightly once it’s open - coke cans tend to slop about a bit when on the move.

    Flimsy parcel shelf.

Sluggish compared to my ES - 300h and MPG is absolutely crap.

No ML Sounds - I tried Tidal Masters in the NX - it sounds ok if you’re not used to ML sounds but the sound is quite hollow. At Vol 40 the wing mirrors are having a bit of a dance.

Multimedia Screen - seems smaller that the 12.3 inch screen in the ES but it’s clear on Lexus navigation and there isn’t much in it when using ACP/

Steering wheel buttons a bit plasticky - they’re the same type used in the 27/18/19 plate IS300h.

Windscreen wipers - passenger side - lots of travel for such a small blade given the size of the screen.

Although I missed the boat for a day, and despite the ES being a bitch to park due to turning circle and length I think I’ve been spoilt having an ES since a 69 plate. I didn’t miss the ES as much as driving around in a UX on the last loaner - The NX is quite a sold car.

Looked around the NX350h plug in in the showroom - still think the screen is massive and the finger prints will put you off if your OCD kicks in.

I still think once you’ve had an ES for a while it’s easily missed when jumping into a different Lexus model especially when you miss half the toys on your own model.

The ES came back from Lexus with a new tyre and a new boot liner but needs to go back in for the roof rattle for a couple of days as they need to take out the roof liner 😞

I’m sure the NX is a good buy for those that are into that sort of thing, I much prefer the ES with the toys.

Interesting review but I think you are a little unfair with your comments re equipment and toys. Panoramic/360 cameras and ML systems are there if you go for the right version.

  7. I have the same issue, had it with my previous NX, and RX450 before that. It seems to disappear when someone is sitting the back so I have always assumed that it is to do with the seats... maybe where the two parts of the seat backrests rub against each other.

I also have a metallic vibration noise coming from the pillar, right by my right ear. I'm guessing it is to do with the seat belt mechanism. It is only noticeable when I have audio switched off though, which is not often.

  8. You will not be disappointed with a switch to the Michelin Cross Climate. Better road holding, more compliant ride, and far less noise than with the Yokos.

I had Cross Climates on my previous NX, and on an RX before that, and will be switching to them again within the next 6 months when my current, standard fit Yokos need replacing.

Unfortunately on many such occasions the OP has simply not tried the obvious and IMHO it would be far more helpful to themselves to actually refer to the handbook.

Now, there have been numerous times in the past where a member has asked a question and after confirming they either don't have access to the handbook or have failed to find the relevant information I and others have then searched online copies and posted up the extracts required and at great length.

So, Daniel, unless you have anything constructive to add to help the OP perhaps one should keep one's frustrations to oneself?

Excellent response, however I remain frustrated. 😉

"IMHO it would be far more helpful to themselves to actually refer to the handbook". The OP is asking for help, not for patronising comments.

I am fully aware of your useful contributions over the years and I have often been grateful for them. I do, however, find it frustrating that some members' almost systematic response to any question is to point people to the handbook, often in an unnecessary patronising way. I do acknowledge that this is not your default response, and it is unfortunate that it looks like my comment was targeted at you specifically. It was not.

But you are correct, I do not have anything constructive to add to help the OP. On that basis, I shall not add anything else to this thread.

Is it not shown in your handbook? If you don't have one, download from the Lexus website

I remember the days when this forum used to be a useful source of information, where members went to great length to help each other with sometimes difficult to find information, or simply because a member has not got the time or access to the right resources to search for a solution that someone can provide in seconds.

I fail to understand how recurring comments such as " have you looked into the handbook" are helpful to anyone. If you really want to be helpful, why not  quote the relevant page from the handbook... or simply provide the information if you have it. If you don't want to help or have nothing useful or informative to contribute... then don't.

    Rant over.

  11. Consistent customer experience and reliability of the vehicles are the two main reasons why I keep buying Lexus cars. I did consider switching to others at time, but the (relatively) poor reliability of German competitors and the lack of interest of dealership staff mean that I will continue buying Lexus cars.

My local dealer is Lexus Southampton (Hedge End) and the quality of service you receive there echoes what you have experienced in Preston.

  12. You shouldn't really switch the aircon off. Nowadays, climate control systems are meant to be left on all the time and are designed to have limited impact on fuel consumption while optimising temperature, humidity and general air quality. You probably use more petrol by the additional drag of your open sunroof than by letting the system do its thing.
