  1. Happy Birthday Becgram65!

  2. I have converted several 4 x 4s to LPG, namely a 2001 Range Rover Vogue 4.6, a 3.2 "Vauxhall" Frontera Limited and, most recently, a grey import Harrier (RX300), which I kept for 3 years after conversion. It cost £1200 and was done by a team of Poles in Wales, and, once I got my local LPG expert (Dave Croft in Chesterfield) to sort it out properly, it worked a treat, which is more than I can say for the RR. It made the fuel guage a bit tempremental (in other words, rubbish) but as it was completely automatic in the switchover, it didn't really matter. It was clean, green and improved the mpg in terms of cost, but not in actual fuel use. Doing an average annual milegae of around 10k p.a., I reckoned it had paid for itself in less than 2 years. Having said that, when I traded the Harrier in on a 2004 RX300, I got about £600 more back because of the conversion, which effectively makes the payback time shorter still. I'm still considering whether to convert the RX...... I didn't consider that the servicing costs were worth discussing, as, once Dave had sorted the system properly, it never needed anything else doing to it over the nearly 3 years of use, apart from having to tap the tank occasionally to free off a sticky sender unit......
  3. Hi, thanks for this - maybe it's time someone offered a bolt-on update for the earlier satnavs to upgrade them to current standards?! I should be so lucky....! The satnavs work quite well, but the lack of post-code input and the inability to set up destinations on the move is very frustrating, especially when compared with £100 off the shelf satnavs that are available these days. So, will the updated disc that I purchased for the SC430 (2001), work in the RX300 (2004)?
  4. Hi, a bit late for this particular thread, but I updated my 2001SC vis Lexus Sheffied, for around £140. I have a couple of questions about the system, however; does this updated system NOT accept post code loadings? And is this system the same as is on my 2004 RX300? Thay appear to be the same visually. Any comments would be greatly appreciated. PS, regarding numbers of SCs, I have spotted at least 6 different ones in Sheffield over the last year...
  5. Not quite an answer, but I bought an upgrade disc from Lexus Sheffield for around £140 early this year - for my 2001 SC430, which has worked fine. However, having just bought a 2004 RX300 as well, does anyone know if this disc will fit and upgrade the RX's sat nav? The screens look the same...... Also, is there any reason why the Sat nav doesn't accept post code locations? The RX has replaced the faithful, reliable grey import '98 Harrier, still running well at 83k miles, but with the usual import problems - radio not fully functional and sundry electrical problems over the 3 year ownership. Still, it turned us into Lexus avids!
  6. My 1998 grey import Harrier is excellent, low mileage, reliable, comfortable, what more can one want? Answer: a radio that works properly! The CD part is fine, but the radio manages to pick up Radio 2 for about 3 tracks than fades away in a mess of static; Radio 4 is non-existent and 5 Live sometimes appears. Overall - it's rubbish! It has a band expander on it (so I was told) and a rubber "bee-sting" aerial. I have looked at replacing it with an American 2nd hand radio unit, but I am unsure as to whether this will be compatible with the UK radio system, waveband / lengths, etc. Can anyone advise on this, please? Is it possible to fit the Lexus SatNav to the radio/CD unit? Or, is there a used UK radio/CD unit out there anywhere that will fit the Harrier? My local Lexus dealer in Sheffield wasn't very interested in assisting when I enquired there, stating that they couldn't help as it was a grey import and therefore beyond their mandate. Perhaps I should've told them about the SC430 in the garage.... The Harrier has been converted to LPG, which has proven to be very successful. I've previously done this to a 2003 4.6 Range Rover and a 3.2 Isuzu based Vauxhall Frontera, of which the Harrier is by far the most successful conversion, with the exception of the fuel guage, which goes up and down like a fiddlers elbow, so an educated guess is required to ascertain the petrol level, the LPG indicator works fine, however. I can thoroughly recommend Dave Croft Motorsport in Chesterfield as an LPG expert. Hope someone can help, many thanks. Richard
