  1. The use of hydrogen in thermal engine is obsolete, here a Toyota Mirai:
  2. Not really. Hydrogen is used to generate electricity by fuel cell and then alimentating electric engine. A rather small battery is necessary as a "buffer".
  3. Ehm, also hydrogen cars have a battery comparable to a hybrid one. But I think that your opinion about "hybrid cars are not good for uphill roads" is wrong 🙂 My suggestion is to try a eCVT hybrid Lexus in a mountain trip.
  4. Some energy is better than "none"... If up and downhilli traits are usually done a solution more energy efficient could be a plug-in hybrid, with a bigger battery that can be discharged driving uphill and recharged downhill without reaching full charge.
  5. More heat to dissipate and also current in wires to lamps, I would not like. Better trying more efficient lamps.
  6. If I remember well, on my RX instructions manual they say to NOT use E10. May be it's different in other countries but better giving a look to manual.
  7. In instruction manual I remember that recommended oil is 0W-20, and if not available you can put 5W-30 but better while available to put 0W-20, and I would say the specific Toyota oil, as hybrid engines work most time off with frequent start-stop, and this is also the reason to change oil more often , every 15000 km. (10000 miles). An exceptio could be to use a thicker oil with fast and long trais percurrences, but for these ones I would get a diesel 😇
  8. A point to consider is that AUDI plug-in is basically a gasoline car with electric engine and a big battery added, so, when battery is no more charged Q5 gets a gasoline suv mpg, while LEXUS NX450h+ is a Full hybrid vehicle with a bigger battery to permit electric longer range but when battery end it's extra charge you obtain the fuel spare of a eCVT Lexus NX. So, if you do less than 50 miles everyday and you may charge there is no problem, but if you make more or you can't o forget to charge a NX450h+ (or also a simple NX Hybrid) is quite better for fuel costs.
  9. Before my RX I had a 2014 GS 300h with all bell and whistles , 19" wheels and Night infrared vision, and it was a WONDERFUL car, more than sufficient to cruise in total comfort and with great mpg, but I agree that a 450h with V6 engine gives all another feeling if you like performance. Just talking about 18 vs 19 inches wheels, I had 19 but with nowadays potholes they may be easier damaged because of /40 profile.
  10. So John, you should have the original dvd with maps. An option is trying to reset the system and charging maps from dvd, or a newer one. Reset keeping the knob for 10 seconds. With total reset you will have to set all your personal data and adio choices , so consider to spend some time.
  11. Are your maps updated? Mabe you were in a new route not registered in map...
  12. It's just a suggestion, give a look to oil, if they put a 5W-30 it could create that issue... Jusst a question;: does knocking happen all the time whrn you start engine or only when engine is cold? If only when cold the chance for wrong oil is more probable.
  13. Usually interface has about 1,5 m. of cable, so you should connect a mael-female usb cable 3 meters long..
  14. It needs a proper interface connected to windows laptop (or pc) via USB.
  15. It's a mistake. If you need all the possible power you have to floor accelerator not caring of noise: no risk for engine to exceed max rpm.
  16. You should read the DTC before erasing it by techstream.
  17. Just to say something more, why, needing a sports car, let apart RC and buy (in Toyota brand), a Supra?
  18. The right comparison in BMW with RC300h is not 430i but 420d. I understand it would be nice a RC450h or a 350 only thermal one, but probably is not in the target for Lexus customers. Besides, in whole european market Lexus will be sold only with electrified models (excepts for top ones and very few ones): it's a consequence of CO2 limitations.
  19. Ehi, I bought a RX450h after having a GS300h because I was missing V6 engine, but not caring about sportyness 😸
  20. It's your usual lithany, Linas , but you don't consider that firstly Lexus is a luxury brand, if one needs a more sport oriented car may choose a BMW with the proper engine. The right comparison for a RC300h is with another coupe, with a diesel engine to spre fuel, and in some way it's at the same way a nonsense from a perpective of "sport" use from a purist point of view.
  21. Probably if you would like more power and wanting a Hybrid you should try a LC500 h. About maintainance costs, hybrid "sport" car by Lexus are far cheaper compared to their thermal only engine versions; just talking about brakes, they last twice or more time.
  22. The "lag" feeling is common to all drivers accustomed to associate engine revs with speed like it happens in cars with manual gears or also in automatic with frictions and a discrete numbers of gears, and it's a common mistake. An eCVT , where engine revs are not related to instant speed leaves the driver accustomed to associate sound with speed somewhat confused. It's the same habits that make many people to say electric cars are not sport cars because there is not the roar of a thermal engine.
