  1. I just had my ls430 done having had to source a new compressor from the states. Even with postage of $100 plus import duty, it was half the main dealer price! Full flush and special drying out kit before fitting by my specialist. Then a revisit a week later to ensure no debris still circulating in system. Big job. He also stripped and soldered a fix in the two rear height sensors. £40 instead of £720!!!!!!! Now a front parking sensor is not liking the heat and is randomly going off in city traffic. This will be my third one. Also, the alloys refurb need redoing because of corrosion coming through in just 18 months which seems to be a common problem. 3 sets of brake discs with a warranty claim going into lexus to resolve the slight brake judder. Only 66k miles on 2006 but a lot of issues. Getting tired of the hassle of visiting the garage all the time. So much for renowned Lexus reliability?
  2. Thanks Steve. It looks like I will have to bite the bullet! JB
  3. I know this topic has been done to death but is there an alternative to paying £299.95 plus VAT for each sensor from the main dealer? I am reluctant to fork out £720 on top of replacing the Air Con Compressor. I cannot find an aftermarket alternative in the USA nor eBay etc. As the part seems to degrade quite easily, I haven't bothered with scrap yards. So, if anyone has a helpful suggestion, I would be much obliged. Thanks JB
  4. Thank you gents. That is very helpful. My garage has stated it could take anything from 30mins to 2 hours to fit depending on whether or not they have to take off the bumper. The only problem is that the unit i have bid on is silver so I will have to spray it black to suit my car. Hopefully this extra layer of paint won't cause the same problems. I had the front corner replaced last month before extended warranty expired - sod's law! Thanks again. Jerome
  5. Hi all, "Lurker" here who bought his in March this year............... My rear offside corner parking sensor has failed. The "check sonar" warning is on and I have tried repainting and oiling the sensor to no avail. The local Lexus dealer has quoted £125 plus VAT but will not release the part number. Does anyone know if part number 89341-50011 will fit a 2006 LS430? Thank you. JB
  6. Thank you John. I will take some measurements over the weekend although if anything was radically wrong , I expect Lexus dealer would have mentioned it during the MOT. Thanks again. Jerome
  7. First of all, thank you for the wealth of information on this forum which was very useful in securing my first LS430. I bought privately a 2006 model with FLSH plus 4 months Lexus warranty remaining and 50000 miles on the clock. Despite having read the instruction book, I find the array of functions mind boggling! Anyway, I wanted to know if there is a set measurement that I can use to determine whether or not the car is riding a little high on the front? The ride seems fine but despite running in sport setting, the gap between the top of the front wheel and the wheel arch seems larger than I would expect. Front offside tyre is well worn on inside despite plenty of tread on rest of tyre. ,The mot threw up brake pads worn 80% and front discs should be replaced despite looking fine to me with no "lip" to speak of. No really noticeable judder evident. Also one of the back boxes is "leaking gases" and that replacement is £460 odd so I am considering replacing both with stainless steel alternatives which seems to be a more cost effective option. Wheels could do with a refurb too. She is certainly an awful lot of car for the money and the silent ride is sublime. Thanks again. JB
