  1. My dunlop sport maxx RT's were a new tyre out last year and I have put 8k on them so far mainly local as well and theres plenty of life left still. Good noise, grip and fuel ratings. They replaced the factory Bridgestone which were terrible by comparison. I was specific about the RT becuase there are a few variations of the SportMaxx but the RT were the newest rubber to date. http://www.tyreleader.co.uk/car-tyres/dunlop/sp-sport-maxx-rt/225-45-r17-94y-234113
  2. I've had movement in between pad and disc before now, apparently not sitting firmly wherever they are meant. Result in a dull knocking noise on both front corners.
  3. agreed, you should have the same tread patterns to make everything sound and work like it should.
  4. I can second the SportMAxx RT, much less noise than the factory bridgestones. You have to keep on top of tyre pressures and alignment etc though.
  5. Hi, I had a loud rattling noise on cold startup that would go after a few mins of driving. It was approved used so it was investigateed and some large work was done on VVTI cam followers I think IIRC.
  6. cant say I actually checked. I rely on the the "Check Completed" on the screen which I shouldn't do. Its gone to Lexus today anyway because someone kindly ran into the back of it earlier in the week. I'll ask them to check it over whilst it's in.
  7. hi, i have the 250 and had the same concern, the gauge sits slightly off centre to the left as yours does, and takes well over 10 mins of driving to remotely become warm. The Lexus dealers said this is normal for them because it is a large engine block. As for diesel they always take longer anyway due to less heat produced when diesel burns compared to petrol.
  8. hi, if you put the reg of the prospective car into DVLA Vehicle Enquiry it will tell you definitively. https://www.taxdisc.direct.gov.uk/EvlPortalApp/app/enquiry?execution=e1s1
  9. Hi All, Is there a plug and play way of sorting out the illuminated door sills, wing mirrors to fold with locking and retrofit anti dazzle rear view mirror for my 07 IS250 SE? I have ML and Reverse Cam as factory fitted. Don't want to start opening bits of the car as it is still in 5+ warranty. Any ideas would be much appreciated.
  10. Hi All, Just in response to this as Tango provided some info in relation to this in my post (thanks again). Dealer is apparently replacing cam shafts for me this week to resolve the described problem I had ie. Rattling like diesel whilst driving when engine in cold. I will wait and see what this warranty work does for the problem and report back.
  11. Thanks Tango, I think from the sounds of it mine is the rebuild, the noise is much more than just a few seconds, its much more continuous on press of accelerator for around 2 or 3 mins. I hope that the dealer makes good of this and lives up to the warranty and 5+ claims.
  12. Hi Al, I was the proud purchaser of a 2007 IS250. It was back with the purchasing dealer (Lexus Bolton) within a month for smelly aircon after being parked in heat, and also A-Pillar trim not flush. The trim came away again on the drive back and the air con was still smelly, and also for a whole week my reverse camera did not work and it has been fine again since, so it has been back with them since last friday and only today had a visit from an "independant assesor" to report to Lexus regarding the air con and also a fault I raised since having the brand new IS250 they have loaned me. That problem being a very loud diesel type noise when gathering speed from a cold overnight start. I called them to let them know thatmy car sounded significantly different to the loan car and were the 2 engines vastly different? I was told there were minor things, in any case the in house engineers have applied for a part to resolve as well. I am waiting back to hear from them tomorrow as to the assessors report back to Lexus which will then govern what the dealer can and cant replace. I am feeling a little like I am being called a liar, I have a video clip that has been sent to the dealer to evidence the camera fault, they have heard the engine noise and not really mentioned the air con unit. And never heard of assessors coming to see the vehicle before warranty work is carried out. The blurb on the 5+ warranty on the website almost says its like for like to the original warranty, which are normally very much hassle free but this process isn't feeling that way and the service manager at the branch comes across as a little nervous all the time or something! Anyone have any ideas for what the next step would be if my phone call tomorrow is not what I want to hear?
  13. hi briatore, yes your right, still have to use the phone, but i;m not sure what ios 6 is bringing to iphone, apparently more intelligent voice control etc.
  14. Hi Pete, I have 07 IS250 with Screen, and there is no direct iphone streaming capability until the facelift at 58plate or 09 i think it was. The best option I have found is the HTC Car Stereo clip to go in the centre armrest plugged into the aux and charging al inside, you need a right angle 3.5mm adaptor from Maplins as you cant close the lid otherwise with the charger plugged in. That will at least let you use the phone to skip tracks. There are other A2DP bluetooth aux adaptors but the HTC supports Bluetooth 4.0 so the compression should be less obvious than the cheapo ebay stuff. It works with all phones not just HTC. Hope this helps, there is also a video of people using the blackberry gateway, same principle, but end of line and only bluetoth v2
