  1. Moving house and found a brand new set of Lexus front and rear mudflaps I bought for my long gone Series 2 2008 GS450h, which also fit the same body GS300. In original boxes with manufacturer instructions, front set have been primed in grey. Two fitting screws missing but they are standard wheel arch so Dealer would be place to go. Of no use to me now - the Club helped me a lot through the happy days of my SC/RX/GS ownership so happy to see them go to a member on here. Collection preferred, near St Neots in Cambridgeshire. Pics available. Any interest? C
  2. It’s alright for you LS owners but ltry running a 2006 RX350. This year, additional to servicing it cost me £10 for new positive battery terminal cover, after only 14 years! OK, I’ll get back to the RX forum now, just wanted you to know how costly Lexus SUV's can get as they reach middle age.....
  3. Currently for sale on Autotrader for £30k https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/202005279574574
  4. is this an example of the early Lexus systems not allowing phone book access while driving?
  5. Did the RX450 have tpms fitted from launch in 2009 or did they come later? tvm Michael
  6. Comfortable? Tick, very....... Spacious? Tick, loads of room Power? 3.5V6, reliable, powerful Tick Waft? Tick, tick Cheap to run, no, but cheap to buy, yes. Get an SE Nav to avoid suspension trouble. 25 to 30 mpg, v easy on tires I stopped my GS450h for our RX350 due to a need for 4wd. V different, the GS had real speed and acceleration but the RX is a supremely comfortable spacious 4x4 with proper Haldex coupling and reliability to die for. Ours is now on 109k miles and will go on for many more yet. Two things to watch: 1. Have spark plugs been changed cos it’s a big job if not 2. service history is always better if Lexus Good luck and enjoy
  7. Download and view these pics large to see the info you need. Sorry anout the shadows!
  8. Hi, The button switches your front parking sensors on/off. They are not aftermarket but a Lexus dealer fit. I'll post the relevant page from the Lexus instruction booklet later. Michael
  9. afaik the only plug in electrics kit for the 350/400 towbar is the Lexus one, and yes it is a plug in to the car loom on the lh rear area. hth
  10. ps, if any RX350 or 400 owner wants to switch off their rear sensors then there is a switch fitted in the o/s boot cubby box visible in the pic with wire coming from......I never knew that👀😅
  11. Thanks all for the feedback and suggestions/observations. Have to say for a 14 year old the car is in good condition overall, which given I’ll be towing around 1600 kg is encouraging. In my experience Lexus do build to a different (higher) standard than most and it shows. Why have cotton when you can have silk as the saying goes. Service history is all Lexus👍
  12. Cheers for that great tip Pete, will check them out at the weekend. Wouldn’t surprise me at all🤔
  13. So picking up a caravan from the Lake District in a couple of weeks. Tow bar needed, Lexus want over £1k, err no thank you. Take to an independent, job done fine, but oh no. Parking sensors now throwing a fit🙄 'Not us guv, just a coincidence, honest, we've checked it all over' hmm. So this morning stripped the entire boot out, cleaned and reconnected all the bits, including the sensors, and after two hours all working again👍 two clips missing from the wheel arch liners each side, which might explain small amount of water present in corners of the boot so off to get replacements. Trouble is however good a job done, it seems there are always bits missing or clips left lying around. Not good. Anyway proper job done now and feeling good about getting it sorted.
  14. Jack, ‘Let me know if you have no luck with a spare wheel. I have an new and unused SC430 spare wheel with tyre in my garage which is no longer needed. Best Michael
  15. Steven Eagell Lexus cover the East of England with a number of dealerships. Rang their central service booking call centre for a RX diagnostics check. ‘Certainly sir, that’ll be £160 for the first hour’ 🤪👀 👀👀 picks oneself up of the floor and laughs, a lot🤣🤣🤣🤣 But then thought, I wonder can that figure be beaten? Over to owners club members, have you been given a bigger laugh/figure? Wouldn’t mind but over the years have spent a shed load of ££££ with them, but this is first time have asked for diagnostics help. Have worked out it will be cheaper for me to buy and fit a part. These glass palaces need paying for eh👍
  16. you don’t heed to prove ownership, the retailer needs to prove you don’t have ownership. Invite them to prove it, they cannot, unless you didn’t pay, then your stuffed👀🤣
  17. Quite! Lexus should be guarding their reputation for quality better than Lexus Bristol's approach to customer care seems to suggest.....
  18. Apparently it covers 'administration' whatever that means. In reality its just another way of bumping up the price. Some less savoury car supermarkets have been trying this on for years. But Lexus main dealers???
  19. In their own words....... "At Lexus Bristol we want to provide the ultimate buying experience which is why...................*ALL VEHICLES ARE SUBJECT TO A £139 MOTORLINE ADMINISTRATION FEE*" So now a Lexus Main Dealer will charge you a fee additional to the price of the car for the pleasure of buying a Lexus from them!! Have just started looking around for an RX450H, Lexus Bristol have a good looking example in Black, but early in the Autotrader ad the fee gets a prominent mention in capital letters. It does make you wonder what these jokers are on. This 'fee' makes it certain I will never darken their glass palace doors. Am surprised that Lexus are not challenging main dealers who do this, surely fleecing customers so blatantly is not a good look for the brand, is it?
  20. lol, just caught up with this to finish the tale, but first thxs for the humour guys🤣 will let Andy know next time I bump into him!😉 Anyway, next day, after them putting the car through the mot and it failing big style on everything but the exhaust, the boss of the selling garage contacted me to pull the car from sale, just as it disappeared from AT! I think I must have been asking all for them the wrong questions about the right things. So if anyone on here sees a 2005 non facelift in grey at a 'good' price, check steering wheel motors, tpms, tyres and exhaust - or just avoid. Thxs all for help, am not giving up just yet on the SC. An old skool V8, convertible that eats the miles and is soo comfortable? Who could say no.. Best Michael
  21. Thanks Andy, that is really useful information 👍
  22. thanks John, that is v helpful. Now have these pics. Seems to me the car needs a new back box and pipes out, together with the twin pipes forward. Thoughts welcome, but could be a solution and negotiating point.
  23. Am temptingly close to returning to the SC fold. Saw one yesterday where the main advisory on the last MOT warned about entire exhaust system badly corroded. So the selling garage guy says 'ok lets find out worst case shall we' and rings a Lexus Dealer to get a price on a full system. I did warn him but he insisted. 'That'll be £3550 inc VAT sir' says the man from Lexus. The face was an absolute picture he heh, so might be a good negotiation point. Anyway might go ahead but does anyone know of a place that could make me up a normal soft metal system at a more reasonable price? Want to avoid stainless as I prefer the signature quiet Lexus noise. All advice much appreciated; watch this space. tvm M
  24. Was minor. They suggested I invest £100+ for a fluid change on the day but decided against as not really vfm....
